Alien Isolation 2 was the biggest highlight IMO

Didn’t watch the Nintendo one.

But I think the other 3 were all good quality. All pretty much on par for me with plenty of good games across the board.

I may not be the most objective, but objectively speaking it’s obvious that the Xbox Showcase outshone all the other gaming events, with a lineup of truly legendary games.

The Nintendo Direct was 100% the best showcase in my opinion.

XBOX > Not E3 > SoP and Nintendo kinda in the same position.

Xbox Games Showcase was the best by a landslide. It was a masterclass on how to do a Showcase EVEN with Xbox not being anywhere near the force it was during the 360 days (when it could do pretty much anything considering the command of the marketshare it had in the West for most that generation).

Only put the big three main ones.
Xbox pipped it for me over PlayStation.
Nintendo was a distant third, it was not great at all.

This year, Xbox had the best show. Summer Game Fest was also quite good.

@fatpunkslim That's nothing. A Sony fanboy on NL said that the Xbox show was "rubbish" in the comments section of Ocarina of Time. I'm a huge fan of that game, so I was there.

They showed a ton of stuff that cater to my specific preferences.

Meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft was pretty meh in that regard.
As for SGF, I barely recall what was even shown.

It's a toss up between a Playstation's State of Play and SGF for me. There was simply more announced at these shows that interested me than what Xbox showed. Unfortunately most of what Sony showed, I won't be able to play until I get a PS6, it's far to late in the gen now to look at a PS5/Pro.

Didn't watch any of them so I can't really say.

Just want to say thank you to the Pure Xbox team for the summaries for each event. The best way to get straight to the good stuff and not be forced to watch the filler.

Xbox One... I mean Xbox won

SGF for me but I do wish they would cut down on the cheesy fluff and interviews. That show absolutely does not need to be 2 hours long.

As an Xbox gamer the Xbox showcase was my favorite.
I'm also a huge gears fan so it was a slam dunk for me gears looks amazing!

SoP, SGF, Xbox.

All shows were off an equal standard so I have based it on which shows had the most games for my personal tastes.

Direct was the most fun for me overall. Ocarina remake automatically wins it for me, but I admit bias there 🤣. Ocarina is one of my top 3 games of all time.

That said, Ocarina and Fable are by a large margin my most anticipated games. Truly can’t wait for either!

Xbox > Summer Fest > Nintendo > ……. 🍃…….. > Sony

PlayStation State of Play knocked it out of the park!

In my opinion:

1. Xbox Showcase. The one with the best balance of quantity and quality in its announcements.

2. Nintendo Direct. Mainly because of Zelda: OOT, which, in my opinion, is the best game of all time.

3. State of Play. Overall, I think it was better than Nintendo’s, if it weren’t for OOT, it would probably be in second place.

I haven’t seen the rest.

@GamingGod E3 use to be a blast! I knew it was going down hill though when Bethesda threw their own party across the street that easily beat out anything E3 had that year. Was an epic Bethesda showing. Think that was the Fallout 76 announcement year possibly, which I wasn’t even a fan of. 🤣

@Dm9982 A remarkable first-party announcement although the Direct itself was bland. I hope Majora's Mask is next!

They all had plenty of games I'm interested in now just need to find the time to play them all.

Summer Game Fest. It just had the highest ratio of must play games and pleasant surprises.

@Banjo- Square and Capcom had a nice showing in there, love to see their support on S2. And I’ve wanted Metaphor on there for awhile.

The direction Nintendo has been going with Fire Emblem has been odd. I loved the 3DS entries, and Three Houses was nice. But Engage and now the new one seem lacking by comparison.

Xeno Upgrades were nice.

I did have a chuckle when it it was like “We heard you like dragons, so here’s 200 games featuring dragons”. 🤣

There’s a lot of ports I’m glad to see on there like Lies of P, Dragons Dogma 2, etc that are nice for those that may have missed out.

More news on KDC1&2 S2 versions woulda been nice. Same with a Witcher 3 S2 upgrade.

I keep holding out for Baldur’s 3 on the S2. To me, massive games are just more immersive in handheld. Like reading a book compared to watching a movie.

Was also surprised no Persona 4&6.

The State ofPlay had the most individual games I'm interested in however I think the Xbox showcase was the best presentation overall.

@Dm9982 I love that Square Enix is 100% multiplatform and proudly: "Multiplatform at launch." Nintendo is fully supported. The only problem is hardware limitations that may delay some ports and explain why it's getting older games now.

@Banjo- True. It’s mainly due to Epic’s flop with Unreal 5 though, which struggles on every platform; and unfortunately a LOT of developers chose to use it. It’s why Epic is releasing Unreal 6 so quickly. It’ll have the same stuff U5 had, just better optimized and much better scalability. Prime reason they used Rocket League to debut showing the engine, a game they want on every platform.

Capcom has shown what a good engine can do with good devs, just look at RE9 and Pragmata. Both look and run great on any platform.

I hope CDPR forward ports W4 to U6 instead of sticking with U5, otherwise we’re all in for dealing with a rough launch.

@GamingGod Same, I loved tuning into E3 especially on a console announcement year. I genuinely like Geoff Keighley and have nothing against the length of the show it’s more that it feels padded. I may be looking back with rose tinted glasses but E3 used to feel more focused.

@Dm9982 Honestly, I prefer the better performance and graphics on Series X (and controller), but it's great that Switch 2 is getting so many ports, and I'm looking forward to Ocarina of Time. 😊

@Banjo- I’m good with 1080 or 4k, but def like the smoother performance on the X. I just love handhelds, and have been tempted to get the Xbox Ally. Rather wait for the next version though so that everything is smooth and any kinks are ironed out.

For now I settle for remote playing the X through my Steam Deck, which works just fine honestly. Finished MH Wilds and RE7 completely remote like that. I just would prefer not to be tethered to a network if possible.

Speaking of…. Wish Xbox would come out with a Steam app to make the remote access easier. Annoying having to go through Edge. Need to check out the xstreaming flatpak and see how that works

@Dm9982 The new Rog Xbox Ally X20 (OLED) is more than tempting me! They are improving Xbox on PC now so Helix and Rog Xbox Ally X go smooth and that will benefit all these devices.

100% XBOX, there were 10 games from that I really want to play and because of GPU they're free! 😂 Sony have 2 games and from SGF only interested in the wolf among us 2. Nothing from Nintendo as usual. I really need to get rid of the switch 2.

Xbox had a great show but so did Sony so 50/50 for me

@Banjo- out of interest I take it you have a pro controller on S2? Is an absolute must have in my opinion!

@datamonkey Basically, a Brook adapter for using Xbox controllers on Nintendo systems. I also have Mobapad M6 HD for the Nintendo Switch OLED in handheld mode. I ordered the 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Controller for Xbox - Rare 40th Anniversary Edition four days ago. 😁

2 favorite moments were Dragons Dogma 2 at Nintendo and the 20 minute Exodus gameplay at the PC Game show. Favorite show overall was probably Xbox led by Gears. SGF was also good. Really spread out the love for me this year.

I think as a JRPG fan, the Nintendo Direct Showcase was the best for any JRPG fan. The Xbox showcase was a close second as Persona 6 was there, and I love the upcoming RPG style games like Fable and Clockwork Revolution.

SOP and SGF didn't offer too much for me beyond the odd announcement/release date update.

Nintendo direct was my favorite by far, Japanese stuff, and the best of it is all coming to xbox.

@Banjo- haha ok so you’re set by the sound of it! I can’t stand the joycon but the new pro controller has quickly become my favourite of all. It’s so comfortable!

@datamonkey It's funny how much better Wii Remotes and nunchuks feel, not to mention how better the Wii IR pointer works. What's the point in ditching a sensor if you need to recalibrate the controller every 30 seconds?

They joy-cons are designed for handheld mode, but still there are better, more ergonomic options. Even the button placement is annoying, like the minus button over and close to the left stick.

Of the two i watched, Xbox for sure.

I went into the Nintendo Direct expecting to feel remorse for having sold my Switch 2 last fall. I came out wishing I'd sold the company stock too. It dropped another 11% as soon as the Direct ended. Need say no more.

I’m still holding out hope hori release some split pad pros for S2 which were decent on my old oled.

I wasn't impressed with the Nintendo Direct....still not tempting me into buying the Switch 2.

Xbox and the Summer Game Fest were a tie for best show. I thought both were awesome.

State of Play was okayish.

More so than in the past, I see companies that aren't really evolving and just rehashing old franchises. How many God of War, Halo, Gears, Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed, CoD and Zelda games will it take for people to want something else?
