Re: Five Years On, Xbox Series S Is Still A Fantastic Place For Current-Gen Gaming

deadmaker

Bought mine in 2021 and it was the perfect choice for me, as I am not a cutting edge tech user and my TV is still 1080p to this day. The console is so small and silent. It's small size also compels me to take it with me on my future exchange to Japan in 2027. Being digital-only doesn't annoy me at all, as I've been a MS Rewards user since I got the Series S, so most of my games were bought with points, which makes it the most economic device I have ever had. Hope to play on it for many more years yet. ❤️

Re: Syberia - Remastered Delivers Huge Overhaul On Xbox Series X|S In 2025

deadmaker

Oh well, I just played the original Syberia 1 and 2 last month on the PS2 emulator, and Syberia 3 on Switch in order to play the most recent one, The World Before (which I haven't played yet as I'm waiting for a discount).

Truth be told, the first and second games are infuriating puzzle-wise. I hope this one makes things more streamlined so that we don't need to open a walkthrough guide every five seconds.

By the trailer, I'd call it a remake rather than a remaster. It's visually stunning and seems to be using the same gameplay mechanics as The World Before. I'll be looking forward to it.

Re: Xbox Is Adding Three New Ways To Personalise Your Console's Home Screen

There are two things I'd like them to do, though they have more to be with functionality than customization. One is to get the Game Hub mapped to the X button instead of A, because that s*** is driving me nuts (I know there's an option to change it for the home screen, but all other screens are kept mapped on the A button). The other thing would be to show the profile icon of who's using which games on Quick Resume.

Re: The Witcher 3 Drops To 'Lowest Price Ever' In Unbelievable Xbox Deal

@krzysztof81 I did buy it last night and was comparing to the Switch version... Yeah, on the big screen the Switch port is pretty bad looking.

And also I found out something interesting: for the cross progression to work properly, both platforms need to have the same content. On the Switch I have the Complete Edition but on Xbox I got the base edition. The result was that I could transfer my save to Switch with no problems at all, but transferring the save back to Xbox simply didn't work, it showed me a list of things I needed to have installed for it to be compatible. The good news is that most of the DLC is free and buying only the expansion pass ends up being cheaper than if I had gotten the Complete Edition on Xbox. Lol

Re: Talking Point: Do You Feel You've Had Value For Money With Your Xbox Series X|S?

deadmaker

Most certainly, yes. Xbox Series S has so many good features that I never felt I needed to go to their competitor's side.

1. It was the most affordable next gen console when I bought it.

2. Very welcome features like FPS Boost and Quick Resume. Besides, it is a very silent console, which is great.

3. It's a powerhouse machine for emulation, especially for PS2, Game Cube and Wii consoles. Most of the time their games run great on it.

4. Microsoft Rewards program alone has allowed me to get several games without having to pay with my own money.

5. Game Pass is a nice support to play games that you wouldn't buy otherwise.

There are probably other things that make me love my Series S that I am forgetting to talk about, but these are some of the reasons why I don't think about leaving Microsoft's side anytime soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Have You Picked Up In The Xbox Spring Sale 2025?

deadmaker

I got Like a Dragon: Ishin!. Have already played it when it was on Game Pass, but I'm trying to have all games in the franchise on my library.

I was really tempted to get Syberia: The World Before too, but seeing as it's 60% off and it has reached 80% off once, I think I'll wait a little longer to purchase this one.

Re: Xbox Adds Multiple Highly-Requested Features In April 2025 Update

I just tested the Remote Play through the browser and it's amazing to be able to play Xbox 360 games like that. I thought I'd never see it happening. However, I noticed some pros and cons in this method.

The pros:

  • Access to the store and backwards compatible games during remote play work just fine
  • It even works with Joy Cons. All the buttons worked perfectly (in contrast to the Xbox App remote play, which the ZL and ZR buttons are not recognized)

The cons:

  • Some icons keep invading the screen
  • The (...) button sometimes doesn't close completely
  • The screen doesn't turn to landscape mode automatically
  • My phone's screen kept dimming while playing with the controller
  • Had some horribly bad lagging for a while

The are lots of improvements to be done, but the good things are very welcome. Finally being able to play backwards compatible games on remote play feels like a dream to me!

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Compares Xbox's New Strategy To SEGA, Says It's A 'Balancing Act'

deadmaker

It's hard not to compare it with what Sega went through. However, Microsoft is in a much better situation, which means they can choose the path they'll follow. If one day they decide to leave the multiplatform strategy, there's nothing stopping them. It's not like they don't have other options if their vision doesn't bear results.

I read an interesting theory about this shift in Microsoft's business. Being a multiplatform publisher, there would be no resistance from the likes of FTC and CMA against new big acquisitions, which would mean MS could potentially buy any publisher they'd want. Is it possible this could be the reason for the change Xbox is going through?

Re: Xbox On Keeping Games Off Other Platforms: 'That's Not A Path For Us'

deadmaker

First party games should remain exclusive to their own consoles IMO. It's what drives the people's choice between one platform over the others. To be honest, it doesn't bother me that PS users are playing MS games on their consoles, what bothers me is that we get nothing in return.

Also it makes me insecure that it'd make Xbox leave the hardware business, because I wonder if in the next 10 years or so I will be able to access my library of purchased games. How will it work without a console to play it by then?
