Konami's Metal Gear Solid Delta Revival Justified Thanks To Huge Day One Sales Milestone

Last month's Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater marked the grand return of Konami's iconic MGS franchise, and despite this entry only being a remake, early sales figures for the title suggest that it was a worthwhile endeavour for the Japanese game maker.

The Konami team has shared that Metal Gear Solid Delta sold one million units as of August 28th; the day the game came out. That figure is across all available platforms, taking into account both physical shipments and digital sales.

Given that we're now a week on from that release day, it's safe to assume that MGS Delta has sold a fair few more copies since then - but this is still a very impressive number either way. Outside of the ill-fated Survive and the recent Master Collection Vol. 1, this is the first proper full-priced MGS release in a decade. Yep, The Phantom Pain was that long ago now!

Anyway, it remains to be seen where the series goes next now that famous creator Hideo Kojima is off galivanting with other publishers on various projects - but if this sales milestone is anything to go by, Konami will be keen to strike while the iron's hot and get more Metal Gear out there.
