Xbox's New Startup Animation Is Now Live For Everyone, Plus Four Other New Features

Over the past couple of days, we've noticed numerous people pointing out that they've received the new Xbox startup animation on their consoles, and after looking into it a bit further, it turns out this happened on Wednesday.

This was part of a public Xbox system update that included multiple new features - specifically four new things on top of the startup animation. The vast majority of these have been highlighted here at Pure Xbox already (because they've been live for Xbox Insiders for some time now), but we thought we'd recap them for the public release!

The update also includes some bug fixes, which are as follows:

  • Fixes to address issues where some game updates would take extensive time to start in queue and cause the system to become unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where the game card could open but not be interactable.
  • Fixed an issue where game tiles would flash repeatedly during installation or update.
  • Fixed an issue where the recently installed list in the manage queue page would not always update.

Don't forget we're getting another system update today to target Forza Horizon 6 saving issues too:

Right, let's take a look at all the new features added in the most recent public Xbox update:

New Startup Animation

We've updated and improved the startup animation on your consoles. If you like it, make sure to set your console to Shutdown (energy saving) mode if you want to see it every time you turn on your console.

Gamerscore Milestone Badges

All player profiles with at least 1,000 Gamerscore will display a Gamerscore badge that evolves as your Gamerscore increases. There are many evolution levels available ranging from 1,000 to 10,000,000 Gamerscore!

Understanding Your Game Library At A Glance

Whether you're switching devices or jumping between consoles, it's easier to quickly see what you can play and why. New filters make it easy to separate games you own from those shared with you and identify installed titles you no longer have access to with the Game access filter. The Game access filter can be found in your Installed games view as well as your Owned games view in Full library. It's now clearer what you can install and play on your console. Games that are incompatible with your device will no longer be displayed in your Full library. For example, a Kinect required game will only be displayed on Xbox One consoles that support a Kinect device.

New Xbox Rewards Experience

Today we've started rolling out a new Rewards experience to a subset of players starting with a new entry point to access your Rewards and check your points balance right from Home. Highlight your balance and press the A button to check out the new Rewards experience. Track your progress to the next level, claim points the moment they're ready, and tap Explore Rewards levels to see what you unlock as you progress.

Increased Resolution For Gamerpics & Box Art

For players on an Xbox Series X set to 4K resolution, we've increased the sharpness for Gamerpics and certain achievement and game box art found throughout the console experience. We've also improved how Xbox 360 gamerpics appear on profile pages rendering crisp pixel blocks when upscaled.

If you haven't started seeing any of these on your Xbox console yet, you can try and force the update manually by going into the Settings menu and heading to System > Updates.

The Xbox Support website says this update is part of an "OS version released to the general world-wide audience", so we don't believe anyone should be missing out — but do let us know if you haven't received it yet for whatever reason.
