The RGG Summit 2025 just took place a few hours ago, and as expected, SEGA announced Yakuza Kiwami 3 as part of the event - but we've also got some older titles in the series that are getting repackaged for Xbox Series X|S.

Let's start with Yakuza Kiwami 3. This is described as "an extreme remake that evolves every aspect" of Yakuza 3 from 2009, featuring "stunning detail" with reimagined combat. There are new cutscenes and additional side experiences, and overall it sounds like it's going to be well worth picking up when it launches early next year.

In fact, one of the biggest selling points with Yakuza Kiwami 3 is the new Dark Ties story, which is a "separate game" that comes with Kiwami 3 and tells the tale of Yoshitaka Mine.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 releases for Xbox on February 12th, 2026 - and here's more information about it:

"Continue the story of Kazuma Kiryu as he fights to protect those he cares about most in an extreme remake of Yakuza 3 that evolves every aspect of the beloved game. The bustling streets of Okinawa and Tokyo come to life in stunning detail with reimagined combat taking brutal brawling action to the next level. Added scenes deliver more depth and emotion to the story with new and enhanced side experiences that immerse you in the world like never before, and more.

Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine, included as a separate game along with Kiryu's story in Yakuza Kiwami 3. Having once led a succesful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences."

In addition to all of this, it's been announced that Yakuza 0: Director's Cut, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will all be getting native versions for Xbox Series X and S on December 8th of this year. Don't expect too many major improvements with these releases though, as all of them already have existing Xbox One versions (we're assuming a glow-up, performance boosts, and the extra features from the Director's Cut).

For those who are wondering, there's no word yet on whether the new Xbox Series X and S ports of these games will apply Xbox Smart Delivery or any other kind of free upgrade, aside from Yakuza 0: Director's Cut which seemingly won't have a free upgrade as things stand.

And finally, the Summit concluded with a brief behind-the-scenes look at RGG Studio's upcoming game called Stranger Than Heaven. We'll leave the video down below - skip to the 24:30 mark if you want to watch that bit specifically!
