The 2019 CPU needs an upgrade if we are expecting all current gen games like Crimson Desert and GTA 6 to hit 60fps at an acceptable resolution. GTA 6 might not even be able to hit 60fps with the current CPU and that is a clear limitation.
@Titntin PS5 sadly has 3 fan manufacturers, 2 batches with super silent fans and the other with rather loud Foxconn fans. My last PS5 slim had the dreaded Foxconn fans, but my new Pro has either an OG Nidec or Delta fan. It affects about 20% of all new build units, mainly the new slim.
I think it's just a new controller, haha. If it is anything more, that would be good. Asus is a great PC brand to partner with, so I could end up buying more Xbox-branded hardware from them in the future.
I love playing this game, and it will be good to see more players get to play it. I hope there is an expansion next year, too, that would be great! I expect any announcement will be made at the Game Awards Show in December.
More games on more platforms are always better. Hardware should be brought on its own merits and ecosystem features. That's what PC gamers do when they decide between Steam, EPIC, and other launchers. Xbox will be the next big PC launcher, and Sony will be next after that to make the jump.
I imagine it's better to do Xbox on PC to infer the Xbox PC version of a game that isn't on their own future PC hardware. It's just on a non MS Windows device like Asus.
This will be needed when Xbox have their own PC device which will be called Xbox (brand name).
The Xbox App/store will run across all Windows based systems and other partnered devices.
@huroma I expect Xbox to fold into a PC like platform where all your old Xbox games can be played and new Xbox games just run off one PC code that you can play on the Xbox/MS Gaming device or your own PC device. A Windows store will remain to compete with EPIC and Steam on PC and is an area they are actively working on growing now.
@Ilyn I don't believe in generations myself but Sony specifically stated that countless times that they do. It's undeniable that this generation has been full of remakes and modern sequels even if we take away the very minor argument that the first 2 years of PS5 has PS4 games.
I buy a Sony console for the next gen innovation and exclusives. I brought an Xbox Series X and S because I have hundreds of games dating back to the
360 days.
I might buy a PC Xbox to play PC exclusives otherwise what's the point.
Not really sure why you decided to take the PS4 thing as the main point of my thoughts.
@themightyant The issue is that this gen for Sony has seen a huge reduction in quality over the PS4 generation. Maybe we got spoiled with generational games, but all I am seeing on that list you put out is modern sequels, PS4 compatible games, a ton of timed exclusives and remakes.
Returnal is the only new IP, and Astro Bot is enough of a new game to not be classed as a sequel. I can play GOWR. GT7 and Horizon FB on my PS4.
@Fiendish-Beaver MS never increased the UK prices; they have kept them at £70. They just dropped the US price back down to $70 to keep in line with what Sony is doing at the moment. Only Nintendo is charging the actual conversion rate for US customers at the moment.
Yeah, I buy plenty of full-price and sale games on Xbox. I buy a lot more games here than I do on my PS5. Now that the Switch 2 is out, I get most of the non-Xbox Japanese games there, so my PS5 has become pretty redundant.
Xbox has the best long-term viability as I can play most of these games on a PC(without buying again), while my PS and Switch games are stuck to that hardware. PC gaming is the future, and console gaming has become expensive for the mass market, and it's on its last legs.
This will have zero impact for most Xbox owners who get the console to play games. I brought 1 movie from the MS store as it was on sale but its not really a go to place for any kind of video media these days.
GTA 6 will be the turning point for Series X and PS5, from a CPU and GPU standpoint it will push those consoles to thier absoulte limts like RDR 2 did with the last gen machines. Even PS5 Pro will get a full workout.
@Fiendish-Beaver Hardware is scaled price wise while software is typically fixed (not with the recent $80 price increase though) hardware is typically $50 cheaper on main consoles so it wouldn't be unreasonable for a higher priced console to be £50-£100 cheaper in the UK.
@Fiendish-Beaver MS will go where the money is, as always. That's why they have the highest global market cap.
It might upset some hardcore Xbox gamers, but MS is really a software and Services company and that is where their abilty to make the maximum profit lies.
Hardware has always been experimental for them, with Xbox really the last fully backed MS division allowed to continue making hardware. I feel like after this next gen they will tap out, or get 3rd party PC manufactuers to do hardware for them like Asus.
I loved my Windows phone, but they just wanted to sell software, and they will always default to this.
@CaptainCluck If it's not sustainable for them, they will cut it faster than a master chef cuts salad. Prices have risen in line with inflation and increased output (Lots of AAA releases in 2025, case in point).
It's been proven time and time again that MS will ruthlessly cut anything that does not make an acceptable profit. If Game Pass is unsustainable right now, it would be cut today. If it becomes unsustainable in the future, it will be cut in the quarter that happens.

It's time to get silky.
Re: Microsoft Explains Why ROG Xbox Ally Price & Pre-Orders Haven't Been Announced Yet

AA and AAA games are likely to be 30fps from now now on and that's fine for the cheapest home console.

@Matthewnh MS lose money on each console sold and make between 70-100% back on software sales so going down that route is a no brainer for them.
