Re: Forza Horizon 5 Set To Overtake 2024's Game Of The Year With Over 3 Million Sales On PS5

darylb24

@Fiendish-Beaver MS will go where the money is, as always. That's why they have the highest global market cap.

It might upset some hardcore Xbox gamers, but MS is really a software and Services company and that is where their abilty to make the maximum profit lies.

Hardware has always been experimental for them, with Xbox really the last fully backed MS division allowed to continue making hardware. I feel like after this next gen they will tap out, or get 3rd party PC manufactuers to do hardware for them like Asus.

I loved my Windows phone, but they just wanted to sell software, and they will always default to this.

Re: The Witcher 4 Will Be 'Extremely Challenging' To Run At 60FPS On Xbox Series S

darylb24

If they are smart, they will not try and shoehorn this onto current gen and make this a next-gen only title. They tried to do this with Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 and Xbox One, and it failed miserably.

I would be skeptical that they could get a solid 60fps bug-free mode of Series X and PS5, let alone Series S.

I know it's hard to leave that last-gen install base money on the table, but they would make it back easily across the next gen, and they would not ruin the goodwill they had to build back up.

Re: Hands On: Not Gonna Lie, I'm Enjoying MindsEye On Xbox Right Now

darylb24

This game is Gollum levels of bad right now with boring mission design, poor AI, and bugs/performance issues galore. With a year of patching those issues, it's still going to be a mid-game. You can have a few hours of fun with it if ever it does run well, but this will never be "an underrated gem" no matter how many monetized YouTube videos try to tell me.

Now IF they redesign the game with a proper free roam mode where you can get in other cars and improve the AI that may change. I don't think the studio is going to last, though.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Do You Think The ROG Xbox Ally Will Cost?

darylb24

I suspect £550 for the base and £750-£799 for the X. These are high-end premium bits of kit for hardcore gamers. Like the PS5 Pro, it is a luxury purchase for the few, not the many. I will consider getting the cheaper one.

Even the Steam Deck is not a mass market product, and it's cheaper. Switch 2 would have outsold the lifetime sales of all these handhelds put together by the end of the year.

You only get mass market appeal for sub £500, or if you have the level of brand loyalty like Nintendo.

Re: Xbox Officially Has Its First $80 Game, And It Won't Be The Last

darylb24

There is a reason why the game has a price rise in the US, but not in the UK. It's very clear. I am glad it has remained the same price in the UK, and I am happy that MS is not punishing consumers outside the US for economic issues within the US.

I will buy the £90 early access addition, but I know I will get my return on investment as I am a big fan of the first game. I think unless you are a big fan, it's worth going via Game Pass or a sale.

I feel having the early 2026 game as the first $80 might have been better, as the Outer Worlds 2 does feel like a B-tier game objectively. Fable, Gears of War, Halo, Forza, those would have been a better first $80 game if you are going to do it.

Re: Last Chance! What Are Your Final Hopes For The Xbox Games Showcase 2025?

darylb24

My hopes for this showcase include:

Release date for Fable

A release date window for Perfect Dark

A release date window for State of Decay 3

NG4 Release date

The Outer Worlds 2 Release date

More on Gears of War E-day

More on Clockwork Revolution

A new Forza Horizon game

Persona 4 Remake (I strongly expect this)

More SEGA games

The Xbox Partnership Handheld

Any new hardware

I don't ask for much haha.

What's certain - it's going to blow State of Play, Nintendo Direct and Summer games fest out the water for it's 1st/3rd party games announcements. It really is the new E3.

Re: Xbox Seemingly Affected As Microsoft Announces Thousands More Job Cuts

darylb24

Sadly this is what all large corporations do to remain agile. The more agile you are the more scope there is to make successful choices or required pivots. It's why MS has the largest market cap. It doesn't make easy or popular decisions but it makes the right ones for business. At the end of the day it is ultimately a business doing business things and we should never expect otherwise from any large business.

Re: New Sales Data Highlights How Xbox Is 'Dominating' PS5 Right Now

darylb24

I guess Microsoft are dominating as usual. Money is in software not the hardware. Sony has been focused on hardware this gen and not enough software. MS has moved back to software and are making as much money as they ever could on their console plus more. Now they get to save even more by producing less consoles while tripping the software sales potential.

Sony can only hold onto their very razor thin margins and thin set of exclusives for so long before they cave in and start going third party.

Weirdly I think PS6 would still outsell Xbox even if their was no exclusives due to brand loyalty and most PS5 gamer's playing Live service and sports games. Let's see if Sony are brave enough to compete in the future or fail trying to hold onto the past.
