Well, it's officially Mafia: The Old Country month now, with Hangar 13's new entry in the Mafia series set to hit Xbox consoles here on August 8th. That means we're starting to learn everything there is to know about the upcoming adventure, including how the game will run on PC and consoles.
In a new post on social media, the developer has followed up on its recent PC requirements with fresh details on how the game will perform on Xbox Series X and PS5. Both high-end consoles will get a pair of performance modes - including one that is "running at an average 60FPS" on the two machines.
"Today, we released PC spec requirements. We've seen some questions around consoles.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Mafia: The Old Country will have both Quality and Performance modes at launch, with the game running at an average 60fps in Performance Mode.
Players who want to prioritize higher resolution and visual fidelity should select Quality Mode, while players who prefer to prioritize framerate should select Performance Mode."
We're always going to welcome options when it comes to console performance modes, and here's hoping that this 60FPS target is achieved most of the time on Xbox Series X. Going off the above post, it appears that Xbox Series S will miss out on this additional mode - unless the team at Hangar 13 tells us otherwise.
Anyway, Mafia: The Old Country is right around the corner now, so we'll know for sure how the game stacks up on Xbox Series X and S very soon. Remember, 2K is opting for a lower price point for this new, linear Mafia game - and it certainly could be worth a look at this relatively low entry point here in 2025.
