It's finally here! Black Myth: Wukong is officially out now on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and we've been waiting ages to see how it'll perform across the two consoles (in particular the Series S).
We already have a good comparison thanks to Fuzion Xbox Testing on YouTube, which has shared some early footage, resolution details and frame rate information about Black Myth: Wukong on both systems.
So, firstly, on Xbox Series X, Black Myth: Wukong has three different modes that seemingly output at 4K ("Quality"), 1800p ("Balanced") and 1520p ("Performance"). The frame rate looks pretty solid based on this footage as well, with Quality and Performance sticking to 30FPS and 60FPS for the most part. Take the Balanced test with a pinch of salt though - they advise it's affected by screen tearing so these early FPS readings might be incorrect for it.
The Xbox Series S footage is particularly interesting. This time, we're looking at 1440p ("Quality"), 720p ("Balanced") and 720p again ("Performance"), and based on what we're seeing here, it appears to run at a pretty solid 30FPS and 60FPS. Time will tell if the whole game is this stable on Series S, but it's looking promising at first glance.
Again, this is a very early glimpse at the Series X and S versions of Black Myth: Wukong, and we're going to have to wait a bit longer until the likes of Digital Foundry can analyse it more thoroughly, but it seems like the game has transitioned pretty well from PS5 to Xbox - especially in the case of the lesser-powered Series S.
You can watch these two videos for yourself below, and please do get in touch about the performance if you've bought Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox already! Unfortunately there are no professional reviews of the Xbox version out there just yet, so it seems review codes weren't distributed prior to launch.
Have you bought Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox? How are you getting on with it? Tell us below.

So it seems to run pretty decent on the series s version funny that considering the "delays" where over that version!🤔
Turns out that 10GB RAM was not an issue after all...
@Ricky-Spanish What are you talking about? It only got delayed by exactly 1 year to the day of launch, haha
"it appears to run at a pretty solid 30FPS and 60FPS. "
Are you kidding me? The amount of stutters is massive.
The performance mode, looks like unstable 40-45 fps at most.
And the screen tearing? Yikes!
Even performance on X, is obviously not stable at all.
Sure, it's impressive it runs on the S, but solid is not a word I would use.
@Exerion76 That observation is based on the video alone, which features a small portion of footage running at 30FPS / 60FPS with very few dips.
This should all be taken with a pinch of salt until an outlet like Digital Foundry does a full deep dive into it.
@Ricky-Spanish I swear this is going to be the gaming conspiracy theory for the next decade or so.
I'm really curious to see the final verdict on Series S and the game overall. Does it finally have stable performance? I've only ever hear about issues on the highest end PCs and PS5Pro.
@darylb24 I think by this point it's been sufficiently proven that the Series S isn't an impossibility that kills game development for this gen. It's a matter of time and optimization. And often that additional time and optimization can benefit everyone (like with Baldur's Gate 3 (and to that note Larian did even pull off split screen with the Series S which was the initial issue)). Now, I'll give Game Science the benefit of the doubt. They did out themselves and say it was their fault for not being good at optimization. But my stance is still that it should've been delayed for all platforms. What we ultimately got was that they brute forced the game on the more powerful machines that could be brute forced. Jokes were made, but I'd honestly say Playstation and PC gamers suffered more being delivered a product that could've greatly benefited from more time in the oven. But I guess why should game science care looking at their sales figures? Likewise consumers didn't show their care. Maybe Game Science took a deal to push it on PS5 and "took their time" with Xbox or maybe it was genuine development issues, but either way I see a game that was released prematurely and rewarded for it (be it by a western audience or Chinese one; it doesn't matter, the outcome remains the same and I really have no faith in their next game as a result).
Its not real 60fps its faked with framegen and it feels dreadful.
@WildConcept6 They clearly had a deal with Sony because the couldn't just come out with the truth there is going to be negativity around this Xbox launch no doubt ✌️
@darylb24 Exactly hahahaha 🤣😂✌️
Plus it wasn't delayed but a timed exclusive but with all cloak and daggers and excuses!!
People don't like lier's for a reason!
@Ricky-Spanish My only hangup is that normally Sony would advertise the crap out of that.
@Ricky-Spanish If they had a deal why hasn't Sony said anything? Why there no footage of the PS5 version prior to launch except a 1 min vid from IGN Japan? Why is the PS5 version dreadful? Why is the Pro update dreadful? What exactly did Sony get from this supposed deal?
Want to know the likely story? The Devs put all the focus on the PS5 version as they had never made a console game before so rather then overwhelming themselves they focused on the PS5. Once they started working on the Xbox version they ran into problems with the SS and giving their lack of experience the issues were bigger to them then others. They picked August 20th as the release date for both PS5 last year and Xbox this year because that date is important to them.
@DennisReynolds I think different what does It matter dude I'm nobody to you I believe what I believe you believe your version we have done this before about this me and you I'm not doing it again bro sorry ✌️ nothing you can say will convince me otherwise
I see the foil hat brigade are still playing damage control. Its laughable.
Im glad the game is now on xbox for those that want it. I acknowledge that opinions are varied, but I had a great time with the game and I hope many others will enjoy it now.
Series S once again showing it cannot carry its own weight.
720p and still cannot achieve a stable frame rate. Is this 2007 again?
Nah, because back then they didn't have framegen to rely on to on to make things worse, as it does here.
@Ricky-Spanish Some people believe the Earth is flat but it doesn't make them right. The Devs have out right said there was no deal.
Will wait a year to see if it goes to switch 2. If not will buy on series x.
