Things have been a little quiet on the Starfield front as of late, but a new report suggests that might be about to change. Outlet MP1st is today reporting that the game's second expansion — alongside a PS5 port — is due out in Spring 2026, and we could be hearing about it all much sooner than that.
The site says that according to its sources, neither the port nor Expansion 2 will launch in 2025. Instead, Microsoft is "leaning toward releasing the Starfield PS5 version in Spring 2026" alongside the next expansion, which would land sometime between March and June next year.

"According to our sources, MP1st was told that Starfield won’t be released in 2025, partly due to the RPG’s weak sales of the first expansion, Shattered Space. Instead, Microsoft is leaning toward releasing the Starfield PS5 version in Spring 2026.
From what we were told, Starfield’s release on PS5 is planned to coincide with the game’s second expansion and other quality-of-life updates."
While this major move for Starfield doesn't look to be happening for a little while, the announcement might not be too far off. According to the report, Bethesda isn't planning an Oblivion Remastered-style shadow drop with Starfield - so we should hear about it in advance of launch. MP1st does say that it's "not expecting" a Gamescom announcement, so we wouldn't hold out for news on this during next month's Xbox broadcasts.
As usual here, this isn't official information right now, so don't take it as gospel just yet. It does make sense that Starfield will move over to PS5 at some stage though, given Bethesda's history on the platform and Microsoft's new multiplatform plan. We're just hoping that Expansion 2 is real so we get some new content over here on Xbox as well!
