Seeing the back and forth on here and the harsh truth is that smaller studios lack the time (Lack of money), money (time and talent pressure) and talent (lack of money). They will raise issues with the Series S because it is inconvenient for them. Rockstar can afford the best talent and are given the time and money to make optimisation for the Series S a breeze. The Series S is a well designed and engineered console, but when a developer has a higher end console and easy out AI upscaling to make life easy, they don't want to make a time effort with the Series S. Just because it is comparatively weaker than the PS5 and Series X, doesn't mean the Series S is weak. The weakest link is the weakest PC or the Steam deck.
Another solid month with plenty of savings to be had if the games take your fancy. TSW 5 is another great add alongside that free P3R expansion pass and Expeditions which is a pretty new game.
If certain players have such a problem with 30fps, invest in a PC that can run games at 60fps or above. It'll cost you way more than £480 though. All the Xbox games are on PC date 1 so you wouldn't be missing anything.
I don't mind 30 If it is stable and the frame pacing in stable.
As long as the frame pacing is good, I am happy with 30fps. So far Xbox has been pretty good with the frame pacing on Forza 5 and Starfield. I tend to prefer higher visual quality/RT over higher frame rates but that's just my personal preference.
Lets be honest the majority of gamers don't even know what 30fps means and don't really care. I only learned about fps/frame pacing and resolutions in 2020 when I started watching digital foundry videos ahead of this current gen because I was bored in lockdown.
By the next gen it could reasonably be the last console for both companies at this rate. MS is just killing the Xbox brand quicker for profit. Don't be under any illusion that Sony will do the same when the time and money is right.
The console marketing is slowly dying and MS are just taking logical steps to adapt for the future. In the future there will be a point where new console hardware is not needed - just a screen and a controller. I am glad they are using their software expertise to ensure that we can still play our games we have now in 10, 20 years time.
I think the 2nd half of the year will be much stronger for Xbox, with Flight Sim 24, Avowed and Indiana Jones. Hellbalde 2 in late way will be a nice way to kick that momentum off.
So when they say managers they only mean store managers, the Assistant manger role is not safe...
Game in the UK is now pointless, Smyths offers a similar range of products often at cheaper prices in stores/online, and the likes of Argos and Amazon offer cheaper online prices and quick online delivery - sometimes as quick as same day. CeX have the preowned market now covered.
There are a few games I would pay £70 for, GTA 6/ Persona 6 being the likely candidates. They have published 10/10 genre defining games. Ubisoft and EA have no business launching games at that price though.
I'm looking forward to MS Flight Sim 24. I think it might be the only MS 1P game I am actually hyped for! I am curious about avowed and Indiana Jones but also sceptical based on the other releases since the start of the gen.
MS really excel at the simulation genre (Flight and Racing) though.
I'll grab my popcorn as I watch social media have a meltdown over a non issue.
In my experience I would agree with @47Cikajovazmaj that factors such as frame pacing, and shutter length on motion blur can really affect how smooth 30fps is. I'm sorry for those whose eyes struggle with frames below 60fps.
Unless it's cheaper or has 2TB there is no point - it must be 2TB to be priced the same as the disc version. I may consider upgrading my Series S to a 2TB Series X as I have quite a few Xbox games and Gamepass games I would like to play at a higher resolution.
Feels like a Sept - Dec launch with more info shared in May or June. I'm looking forward to this one, it looks pretty decent. It's probably the only Ubisoft game I will be hyped for in a while unless they ever launch another Watch Dogs game. The AC games just don't appeal to me due to the grind (Even ones set in Japan).
