I mostly buy physical games and check if the physical release contains a working build on it before buying it.

They say one thing and do the opposite the next month. I don’t trust them anymore.
« Only four games », the closure of Tango, the cancellation of Perfect Dark, the scrapped Xbox handheld project…
I’m pretty sure they’ll cancel the next Xbox too, no matter what they claim now.
It feels like they’ve done everything possible to destroy a once popular brand.

I’ll focus on my Switch 2 now… and I don’t want to support Sony.

@Fiendish-Beaver yeah… They announced Gears Remastered on PS5 with a free upgrade for Xbox players to make it easier to swallow… and they didn’t even get the kind of backlash they got with the « only 4 games » announcement. So I’m pretty sure they’re thinking « It’s fine… Xbox fans are used to it now and even if they move to PS, they will still buy our games anyway ».

The « final » dashboard looked like crap only if your Xbox 360 was online. Offline, you could still have the more complete dashboard (without the online features obviously).

Why would Xbox be « the best place to play these games » if the Xbox version has no exclusive features or the best graphics of all versions or even haptic controller? (Hi PS5 Pro and PC). Gamepass is not a valid argument for a huge part of the ppl.

No way I’m rewarding them for complying with Sony’s shady third-party exclusivity deals by spending over 20 bucks… especially without a physical Xbox release.

@crackeastwood PlayStation entered the gaming market 30 years ago with literally no first-party studios. They relied almost entirely on third party exclusivity deals and studio acquisitions over time. That’s not innovation, that’s just cutting checks.

Microsoft is objectively more pro-consumer than both Sony and Nintendo. Clearly, you’re not an Xbox player.

Nothing screams « anti-competitive » louder than aggressive third-party locking and studio buyouts, exactly what Sony has been doing since 1995. Let’s not forget that this kind of strategy is part of what helped kill SEGA, who didn’t expect a non gaming company to bulldoze its way into the industry with such ruthless tactics.

Ah yes, an old, bad Final Fantasy sold at full price, running worse on the more powerful Xbox. And of course no physical version because why put in any effort?

LOL! Same price as the Tomb Raider Remastered 1-2-3 collection, which was an actual and great remaster. This is a joke. And those wobbling PS1 textures… seriously? I get that 3 didn’t have a PC port, but 2 did! They just threw in the PS1 ISOs with a widescreen hack into their homebrew emulator, slapped a frontend on it and are selling it at the price of a proper remaster. Ew.

At least they didn’t have the nerve to put « Remaster » in the trilogy’s title.

I’ll grab it for 5$ one day.

Crystal ball: In 5 years they won’t even bother to release games on Xbox anymore… since they will probably find an excuse to cancel the next REAL Xbox just like they just canceled the native Xbox handheld.

Their « current strategy » has been the same since the very first PS : third party locks and arrogance.

Sony doesn’t need to lock it. The lock on the second one already had the desired strategic impact on the minds of mainstream gamers, making them believe it’s a « PlayStation » franchise.

@ZuneTattooGuy Avatar and The (s)Crew MF are notorious examples of Ubisoft craps.

For Avatar, a first patch is mandatory before being able to play offline. The Crew is an online game so you’re obviously screwed once the servers shut down.

The other games on that list work fine offline without day one patch, except for a few modes that require an internet connection like in MK1.

My nephew is a big fan of Barbie Project Friendship on his Switch so I guess I will try it on Xbox

Metaphor Refantazio, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, Avatar, Tales of Arise, The Crew Motorfest… and those are just the ones I bought lately.

It’s like taking the next Bayonetta, slapping « Final Fantasy » on the game box, adding some chocobos and summons and saying « It’s the new Final Fantasy and since it’s Final Fantasy of course it’s a JRPG ».

@ZuneTattooGuy It’s true in some cases but the claim is really overstated. Plenty of games still ship with a complete playable version on the disc. I usually play a few hours unpatched just to check what’s actually included on disc (it often only contains the Xbox One and Xbox One X versions though).

We all know they will anyway, so answering that question is pointless.

And they shouldn’t. Why? Because everyone knows that people will buy a Switch 2 (even PC players) because of the exclusives. If Xbox had maintained strong exclusives, with a bit more hustle and proper marketing (like Nintendo does) they could’ve now stayed in the competition.

But the truth is that’s not what they really want. It takes too much time and effort and being a third party publisher is simply more profitable. Satya can just buy himself a yacht or whatever expensive stuff he can afford thx to this new strategy.

Anyway same blablabla as usual. Some Xbox fans think it’s amazing, some others think it’s crap (including me) and that’s it.

So let’s see… which third party stuff did they lock ONCE AGAIN? Final Fantasy Tactics? the Marvel fighting game from ASW?

They’re so obsessed and enraged with their shady third party locking tactics that one day they will end up paying Microsoft to make the next Forza Horizon a PlayStation exclusive…

I love these 2 collections SO MUCH that I dream about a third remastered collection of the best unofficial episodes made by fans with the official Tomb Raider level editor.

With their new policy, no more exclusives to be expected and probably the announcement of even more Xbox games ports on PS5/Switch, it will feel like a third party publisher event like an Ubisoft or EA showcase… So for the first time, the hype is super low to say the least…

The Xbox expansion cards, even if pricier and proprietary, have one big advantage: they’re plug and play. This means I can bring my digital games to a friend’s place and play them after loging in as if I were bringing, say… an N64 cartridge. On PS5, you can’t do that with internal SSDs.

Typical Xbox… Mistakes after mistakes, as usual for the last 15 years.

The success of Microsoft ? Yes and the fall of Xbox hardware and Xbox store for sure, including our investment into the brand.

@Ilyn My phone has a huge screen, the battery lasts forever, my USB-C mobile controller is absolutely divine and I have (almost) unlimited 5G without needing to share it with any other device.

Of course my phone is way more expensive than more basic device such as « Portal ».

@Ilyn what’s the point of portal when you can just use your phone + a much cheaper mobile controller to stream your games from your console or cloud?

@Ricky-Spanish I wouldn’t say it’s about coming out since Tyler’s already out and living as a trans man when the game starts. That part of his identity does play a very interesting and meaningful role in the story but the game isn’t only about that. It’s more about family, memory and emotional healing. His trans identity is treated with respect and depth, not as a dramatic centerpiece. So yes, it’s emotional but in a very thoughtful and human way ❤️

You could also argue that making an Xbox (or a PS) doesn’t make sense either since you can just install SteamOS on a small gaming PC and plug it into your TV… but people will still buy a PlayStation anyway.

I honestly don’t get why people love that song so much. To me it just sounds like a generic French adult contemporary track!

The chords are super basic. Every time I heard it in different versions, I was rolling my eyes like, « OMG, again? PLEASE NO! » It’s miles away from what the great Japanese RPG composers do!

I know I’m in the minority, and while I’m a big JRPG fangirl, the game just didn’t click for me (and yes, I did buy it). There were a lot of things I didn’t like: the soundtrack, the empty areas, the predictable twist, the French clichés…

That said, I’m genuinely happy to see a game like this doing so well.

The only thing the vast majority of people want to remove are those horrendous three advertising tiles on the dashboard, followed by one (and sometimes even two) huge banners of suggested games before you can even reach your pinned list! Why do they pretend to « listen to feedback » when they clearly don’t?!

I love both but the local multiplayer with bearded ladies is simply amazing and so much fun with friends. I still play it on a regular basis with some of them.
