@Fishmasterflex96 That’s for sure but it has never been anywhere near as bad as people have been claiming for the past 12 years. This is a huge exaggeration aside from a few major flops like Crackdown 3, Halo Infinite’s campaign or Redfall.

@Balaam_ I’m playing Alan Wake Remastered right now for the first time on Xbox Series X and I’m surprised to see that it runs in HDR (and it’s not even running with auto HDR, I checked)

The delusion is huge. It basically means that mediocre/risky games will remain Xbox/PC exclusives, while the good ones will get a PS5 release. WoW great for Xbox players.

And of course, the first batch of Xbox games had an « Xbox-first » delay simply because they changed their minds and decided to port them to PS5 later during the dev process, not because of some « let’s keep it exclusive for our 30 millions fans and to showcase our amazing system » strategy.

No one is directly asking them what the point of owning an Xbox is anymore. Being beta testers + Game Pass + Play Anywhere (which is just… play on your pc or laggy streaming) is clearly not enough.

The Xbox showcases/events now feels like a third party dev show, so it’s completely lost the charm it used to have.
As a result, the score I’d give it is pretty low now, sadly… even though I still can’t wait to play Fable… on Xbox… sigh

Now everything AAA is coming to PS5 on day one… what’s next?
In two years everything will be day one on PS5 and later on Xbox, just because it sells more games?

They keep piling it on every single time but we all know exactly how this is going to end.

I haven’t tried it myself yet, but… wasn’t Far Cry Primal praised by fans for how good it looked with Auto HDR on the Xbox Series X, along with the 60 fps boost?

Now that the game is officially an Xbox Series X|S title, did it lose the Auto HDR option, effectively making the update… a downgrade? (This has happened before with other games, like Darksiders 2.)

There are people who have never been exposed to God of War and Uncharted. Will we get them on Xbox? No. So that strategy still suxx.

Ridge Racer 6 has always been disc only in Europe for some reason (cars are not even licensed, tracks are fictional and the soundtrack was made by Namco artists).

So a native 60fps mode for Primal that won’t change anything for Xbox players rather than, at least, a 1080p rendering (the Xbox One version runs in sub hd)?

Calling it shovelware misses the point. It’s deliberately bad and absurd… The intentionality is the whole concept.

Imo, they completely butchered the original story. The pacing really suffers because of it and it feels like they did everything they could to stretch the original RPG’s introduction into a 35 hour, beautiful but overly long interactive movie.

I didn’t really enjoy it on PS4… there were too many boring elements and weird changes, including the soundtrack. I’m not always against remakes that take a lot of liberties but for me this one is a failure. The original’s iconic atmosphere is almost entirely absent.

I haven’t tried the sequel yet though.

I was mindblowed by the first pictures of Dead or Alive 3 and had the same feeling when I plugged my day one OG Xbox to play that still incredible game.

Day one or not, the fact that major first-party Xbox games are releasing on PS5 is damaging Xbox’s popularity as a system. That’s pretty obvious, and pretending otherwise won’t change reality. Just ask Nintendo and Sony why they’re so obsessed with exclusives.

I understand why some Xbox fans wants to still defend this though…

@Naughtyottsel92 except that most of these comments come from Xbox players who feel discouraged by Microsoft not from rage filled PlayStation supporters… and they’re right to be skeptical at the moment.

We haven’t seen anything about the next pc/xbox. Those « solid » advantages are exactly what I point as weak points or at least as disadvantages/stuff that simply won’t appeal to the broader audience and now the ps5 pro consistently gets the best optimization anyway.

Add to that the current GPU pricing which has become such a joke that it’s hard to see it as an advantage anymore imo. Sony doesn’t do the same thing at all since they don’t put all of their first party titles on Xbox…

At least it’s not Nadella who is announcing it… but I don’t hold my breath…

A one year exclusivity window on every first party title will absolutely not save the Xbox brand nor will it convince new people to commit to their delusional Xbox cloud strategy. It suxx imo but it was to be expected anyway… I don’t think it will sell tons of copies on ps5 even though I enjoyed the game.

Omg… this next « Xbox » will probably be a mess knowing Microsoft. Like others have said, you can bet you’ll have to switch between Windows and « Xbox » mode every time you need to fix something or activate a specific feature and accessing Steam will basically feel like using a regular PC.

They keep talking about backward compatibility but there’s still not a single word about physical media, which makes up the vast majority of my collection.

That said, since I own a ton of physical games, I can still resell most of them and rebuy them elsewhere, something that’s simply not possible with digital games, if I ever decide to completely walk away from Xbox and Nadella’s dumb little experiment.

My eyes caught the word « exclusive » first… just not in the way I was hoping. A PS5 version will definitely be announced at the same time… sigh

Can’t wait to see more about the game though. It’s about time!

I paid 10 bucks on ps4 for it and I’m glad I didn’t pay more 😬 It feels more like an adventure/movie game than JRPG. The massive changes in the story are also not that great imo.

Dead or Alive 3, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue II, Crazy Taxi 3, Gun Valkyrie, Phantasy Star Online ep1&2, Otogi, Outrun… all of these made the Xbox feel like a revival of the recently deceased Dreamcast. I simply couldn’t resist those quintessentially Japanese (mostly) exclusives and masterpieces.

Look where we are now… 🤡

I don’t really care what they bring later tbh since I didn’t like the game or its universe… BUT I do hope this success will wake up the (real…) Japanese JRPG developers and get them back to the style of JRPGs from the late ’90s and early ’00s.

Microsoft somehow manages to handle everything like trash, even physical releases from (former) first-party studios. LRG also means hell to get an affordable copy in Europe.

Third party support is gonna be amazing on the next Xbox for sure…………….. and since Xbox is always saying one thing and doing the opposite the next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next console will be canceled. Nadella’s disdain for Xbox has never been more obvious.

Nothing since we don’t even know what the hell Xbox is gonna be in 5 years and I don’t want to keep on collecting digital games for a system I don’t trust anymore. My backlog is huge anyway.

I bet it’s gonna be something related to ps5/switch 2 so I don’t really care anymore.

I love it when indie rhythm games actually have a great soundtrack. Most of the time the gameplay is solid but the music feels cheap. Not everyone can afford a BEMANI level budget 😏

That said, the concept of Xbox (timed) exclusives is contradictory and no longer makes any sense.

I won’t even vote, honestly.
Most of them are just… okay. Not bad, not great. And since they’re not even exclusive, first party or not, it doesn’t really FEEL like Xbox owned games anymore.

Unless… the new Xbox identity is just being an ok but unremarkable game now.

The next Xbox which will probably sell even less than the Xbox Series in 2025? Well… good news, I guess… but I wouldn’t be surprised if they skip Xbox again in five years because of poor sales… most Xbox fans will have moved on to other platforms by then anyway… sigh

The mass obsession with Expedition 33 is insane… people are acting like it’s the greatest game ever made in the history of humanity. It’s getting ridiculous. I can somewhat understand those devs.

@rhyno_888 Given the disastrous sales of Xbox hardware lately and how many people have been abandoning the platform, why would they bother at all? Perhaps Switch 2 ports would make more sense.

I seriously hate this. Sony could not have dreamed of a bigger trophy, parading it proudly while holding Xbox’s head high after a decade of third-party locks…

As a 4K Blu-ray collector, I’d clearly prefer to see Paramount acquire Warner Bros rather than Netflix. Netflix has never really been a fan of physical releases to say the least… and the same concern applies to theatrical releases as well.
