The Elder Scrolls Online Is Planning A 'Revised Roadmap' Following Xbox Layoffs

In the wake of the Xbox layoffs last week, there's been some concern amongst Elder Scrolls Online players that the game could stop adding new content or even be closed entirely, but that doesn't appear to be the case at first glance.

The folks over at Eurogamer have been highlighting a few quotes related to this recently, with the most notable one coming from ESO Community Manager "ZOS_Kevin" who told fans that the team is planning a revised roadmap for the game going forward, but that the idea "is still to deliver great content".

Here's what they said on Saturday on the ESO forums:

"We are planning a revised roadmap, however as noted above, Nick and Susan are working on timing and taking care of our team, in what has been understandably a difficult week.

The plan is still to deliver great content, and we will hopefully have an update soon. Just wanted to thank everyone for the kind words and concern for everyone at the studio and everyone impacted by layoffs. We know that everyone appreciates it."

There are actually three roadmaps for ESO as things stand - based on the month, the season and the year. The yearly versions contains plans for the rest of 2026 as the game progresses from "Season One" into "Season Two".

We assume this'll get some adjustments in the weeks to come, but it's just good to hear that there's still a plan to "deliver great content" for ESO in the future, especially considering how substantial the Xbox layoffs were last week.

It's been reported that around 200 employees at Zenimax Online Studios (the developer behind ESO) were let go as part of the "reset", so it's a tough time for everyone involved with the game right now, and we wish them all the best.
