What is Sony doing that is anti-competitive in Japan? It pisses me off too that so many third party games come out for everything except XBox, but isn't that due to lack of users on XBox?
And like someone else already commented, Japan is biased towards their own console companies, so Microsoft is fighting an even more uphill battle over there.
@Sebatrox @smoreon @Techno92LFC - Actually by now, Lara Croft would be old enough to be a dried up condescending biatch. I wouldn't want to clean her house π
I dumped the Switch after every second game performed like crap (except Nintendo's first party games). The Series S is a pocket rocket by comparison and has so much potential.
Except now, every second game I'm interested in does NOT get an XBox port! WTF?? π It's so damn frustrating that so many great indie/not-quite-AAA games are released only for Switch/PS5. There's no point getting a Switch again, since the games still run like crap (where's the friggin Switch Pro?).
Tried it on Series S out of curiosity. Slow framerate, janky animation, almost non-existent tutorial/guidance to explain menus and functions to kids.
There's also a ridiculous amount of written (not spoken) dialogue for a kids game (and the dialogue is often too advanced for them), which means little ones can't enjoy it without a parent reading and explaining every damn text box.
Really enjoyed 2 back in the day, but haven't played it since, so I don't know how it holds up. I went back and tried 3 after 4 came out but I just didn't click with it. Maybe because 4 had a better GUI, etc and 3 just felt backwards by comparison. I enjoyed 4. Skipped Primal.
Was real reluctant when 5 was announced, but I'd have to say it's my favourite. As someone that grew up in cult-like fundamentalism, they actually got a lot of the cult stuff right (aside from the whole "bliss" angle.. drugs are usually forbidden by christian cults/sects, but I get they needed another gameplay gimmick).
New Dawn (with the palette-swap sisters π) was a real decent DLC, but felt a bit aimless/same-same after 5.
The Far Cry 6 trailer bored me.. corrupt dictator, dirty run-down country, yadda yadda seen it all before, PASS.
It irritates me how they have to fill the series with bad language though. It's just not necessary. I always have to use headphones if there's other people in the house.
"violated Fortnite's EULA, infringed copyright through images used in his online "business"
Oh, I'm sure he was quaking in his boots with those two 'charges' π
The fact that those 'violations' are mentioned first ahead of selling dodgy accounts cracks me up.
The console war was a fun techy thing to discuss on the playground when I was a kid... back when it was known as the 16-bit wars, and "console" was not yet a widespread term.
But academic discussions about tech and game availability should be about as deep as it goes... Don't get all personal about it.
Reminds me of Nintendo publicly screwing over Sony after they had been working together on the "Nintendo Playstation".
Sony announced its collaboration with Nintendo at CES (basically the equivalent of E3 back then), then the next day Nintendo ghosts Sony and announces they're working with Philips instead.
Sony understandably got major pissed and the rest is history.
At least FC5 had some originality. I also enjoyed 2 and 4 but couldn't get into 3.
And it looks like once again they've filled it with unnecessary amounts of bad language, which makes it hard to play on speakers with other family members/children in the house.
I won't be playing this with a controller, that's for sure π
@S1ayeR74 - Yeah it's kind of weird... there's some selective low-res elements, like it's intentionally pixellated for style? While other elements look pretty modern. The framerate and speed looks great though, perfect for this style FPS.
Voxel graphics? π The game was sounding interesting until I saw that. This overly-pixellated art style is ugly. Even many NES sprites are not this pixellated.
@Xenomorph_79 - "I'm just not a fan of starting at the beginning every death just to keep repeating for a little bit more story. Simply got bored."
Yep. I had the patience for that in the 90s, but times have changed. Seems like such a waste to create a wonderful environment and characters but turn it into a shallow rinse 'n repeat.
@NEStalgia - "The pace of play kind of negated the appearance though. It plays FAST like, really really fast."
I do miss the run 'n gun speed of early FPS games (Rise of the Triad, Doom, etc, early Serious Sam).
I haven't played Quake for 20 years, so maybe I'll try it again... on PC. Trying to play these games seriously with a controller is like playing one-handed. It's the wrong tool for the job.
@CrazyJF - Yep, Duke3D was my goto game by far. While I appreciated the technical achievement of rendering everything in primitive 3D, Quake was still ugly as a result and the levels all looked the same.
Good for the fans, but I never cared much for Quake myself. Quake was a milestone technical achievement for 3D games, but it was ugly AF and the levels all looked the same π
Unlike games like Doom and Duke3D which used 2D sprite enemies, Quake's characters were 3D with a very low polygon count. A great step towards 3D games of the future, but not much to look at.
I only just got a Series S, but have found the Microsoft Store / Game Pass is frequently unreliable when it comes to game size. Not as bad as the above example, but often more than the maximum GB quoted. It's frustrating when trying to plan download times or manage available space.
Thanks, I might look into this. I just got a Series S which is my first Xbox. The Dashboard feels visually cluttered and initially unintuitive. I've heard it hasn't been updated since the previous generation?

It's because we backed the wrong horse. For me, the Switch 2 can't come fast enough.
Re: Hands On: Stray Is A Cat-Tastic Adventure, And It's Now Available On Xbox
My daughter enjoyed it on PC. I just bought it again on XBox for the TV experience.

Not playing Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3, unfortunately. I bought it for Series S and it's a frame-dropping mess. Got a refund.

Re: Far Cry 6 Seems To Be Going Down Well With Xbox Players So Far
Why did they have to do such a boring clichΓ© setup? Dictator, politics, crappy country, guerrillas, etc π
