Ahead of its release this October, Ubisoft has released some stunning Far Cry 6 gameplay, running on Xbox Series X.

The footage itself is looking fairly similar to past Far Cry entries and doesn't seem to be reinventing the wheel too much. It appears to be taking a few inspirations from Far Cry New Dawn, most notably the inclusion of RPG elements such as enemy health bars. The game also seems to be running wonderfully on the Xbox Series X, with some beautiful graphical effects and a smooth 60fps.

A few previews for the game have also surfaced online and seem to echo the sentiment we've gathered from this gameplay. VGC says the setting of "Yara is the largest environment in Far Cry history", but takes "small steps forward". Other previews, such as Game Informer, are curious to see how Ubisoft balances the game's lighter tones against "the story of an island in political peril".

Far Cry 6 is looking to be the largest entry yet, even despite the omission of a map editor and arcade mode. There's not much longer to wait, as the game arrives for Xbox One, Series X and Series S on October 7.
