Re: 343 Details Season 2 Updates For Halo Infinite

Nalverus

@Xiovanni unfortunately, that is what many cheat engines use. to trigger an on/off effect. its basic and fools many systems. its dumb yet necessary. cheat makers like to exploit QoL things endlessly.

also completely for having the choice of playing against pc m/kb in game. playing the game on pc against all of that got tiring real quick. basically quit shooters on pc, that atmosphere is tiring an the toxic nonsense flies everywhere.
being forced to play SWAT in crossplay is also ridiculous.

Re: Jim Ryan Argues Xbox Game Pass Model Would Lead To Weaker PlayStation Games

Nalverus

@UltimateOtaku91 ok hold up. there is so much misinformation in this.

for staters, no! no playstation did NOT come with a sub service before anyone else! If you're thinking FF XI, that was square.
xbox started doing xbox live in late 2002 but sony themselves did not have a sub service. If we wanna talk firsts, that was nintendo with its satellite internet junk on famicom for business people. satellaview for the super famicom.

mid hardware refresh...no, sony did not plan one before microsoft you do understand it takes up around the entire hardware gen to pump out new hardware. both the pro and the one X would have started development within a year of the ps4 and X1's release. None of that is slapped together so quickly, it physically can't with all the hurdles. certainly not within a single year between their respective releases.

"xbox copied sony's no drm"
um.
what. no. what, huh. every single thing has a drm to it. its called the license. What microsoft did at the start of the launch was another layer but not something copied. what microsoft attempted to do was another method of circumventing piracy and secondhand games but it bucked the trend too hard an thus, backlash. necessary backlash. it was a little too far.
but to say they copied sony is outrageous. the disc IS the drm. buying something off the store throws the license onto the storage media. THAT is drm. Digital Rights management. License control for copyrighted material. :/
edit: DRM has existed before you or me. It was on movies, an whatnot, cassette tapes, you name it. Using it was accepting to adhere to it. Thus fakes was illegal and you breaking the DRM.
this means carts on things like the nes, master system, snes, genesis/megadrive, etc had DRM on it. the cart was the drm.

"xbox copied nintendo with kinect."
yes. yes they did. you forgot sony's PS move and eyetoy though. Man...those were terrible lol, those balls at the top got seriously laughed at xD.

"xbox used a dvd drive after playstation"
LOL WHAT? NO! XD
dvd drives was in use by the first xbox, the ps2, and the gamecube! gamecube used mini-dvds!
Sony first used bluray in their ps3 BECAUSE sony CREATED it.
in 2000, sony unveiled prototypes of it.
it became the newer standard as a matter of evolution for higher cheap storage medium. bluray wasn't all that cheap when it launched though as most people definitely knew back then. they still aren't all that cheap now! especially the drives.
nobody copied sony, they paid sony for rights to use it.

things definitely not as black an white as you think they seem to be.

Re: 'Valuable Lessons' Have Been Learned For The Next Battlefield, Says Report

Nalverus

good luck getting me to buy the next one.

Is there some fun to be had? sure at times. Only with friends.
but that feeling tends to drown real fast when you have zero clue if a dent will ever be made in the game flow. not fun to have a missle follow you for eternity in the air, not that fun when you can't be in a vehicle because you can put C4 on a drone, not fun to play against bots...

ugh.

Re: GTA 5 Performance Analysis Shows Xbox Series S Version Needs Work

Nalverus

@uptownsoul yeah, no. As someone who builds PCs, this level of performance on the XSS is outrageously terrible. there is no reason or excuse for this level of performance with hardware specs in the S.

this is just a clear cut case that their old code isn't transitioning well, at all, on modern hardware.

Re: Xbox Wire Officially Launches In Japan

Nalverus

@JudaiMasters blame sony and SE. they bought a years worth of exclusive rights and before that expired, they bought another year of that. why SE allowed that is beyond me.

16 is another case of bought exclusive rights.

Re: Elden Ring Creator 'Apologises' To Players Who Find It Too Hard

Nalverus

I mean. Why does a creator have to apologize to people because they're not into this type of game.

I really doubt anybody from the last couple generations would be into any game from the 80s an 90s if they don't like FromSoft's games.

@Would_you_kindly probably not. Elden ring uses easy anti cheat. A first for a PC souls games. Mods an the like just aren't gonna happen. Cheats is inevitable but they would just get patched out.

Re: Roboquest Is Available Today With Xbox Game Pass For PC

Nalverus

tried it earlier, it was really good. it had gamepad support and it honestly ran really well.

but it felt like something was missing. It also extremely felt it wasn't designed for a pad and it sure felt that way with how many bullets was flying when i was using M/KB.

Re: Xbox Is Hosting A King Of Fighters XV Launch Stream Next Week

Nalverus

@anoyonmus The CPU in the X1 is extremely weak, especially by modern standards. The PS4 one is now too but its still quite a bit stronger. Rollback netcode requires a lot of processing power.

Ah to heck with the explanation...bluntly put, the base X1 cpu can't cut it. Isn't a matter of ignoring the X1 base, it just can't do it. its honestly a miracle the PS4 even managed to get it. You can bet the PS4 release got some pretty severe cutbacks to make it happen on the technical level.

@JudaiMasters thats up to the playerbase on xbox, no? The series systems already has a pretty respectable year 1 install base and the lack of fighting games has made people hungry for them. The rollback is actually rock solid so people are likely to stick around if they like the game.

Re: Dying Light 2 Lead Designer Says Xbox Series S GPU Is 'Holding Us Back' From 60FPS

Nalverus

As a PC builder, people really seem to be forgetting some things here. The key thing being is that the GPU is the most versatile piece of hardware in any rig.

i'm also seeing many people claiming the Series S isn't next gen and that its holding things back. People don't seem to know why things is called generations anymore.
Series S GPU is literally whats in the other systems. Its clock speed was just toned down but its literally the same GPU tech. It can pump out the exact same visual model fidelity but not at the same framerate.
it could be said that the S could achieve 60 on that game but some GPU heavy things (like shadows) would have to be culled down. The less it has to process in real time, the better its performance will be.
So this sounds more like they don't want parity removed for the sake of performance. The CPU is identical to all machines, just about, so they definitely had breathing room for all the important things.

They really didn't word it in a good way.

Re: Taiko No Tatsujin: The Drum Master Is Now Available With Xbox Game Pass

Nalverus

i had fun with it but it really felt like the inputs just stop working at random or the input delay just increases or something.
i've never had any issue like that before in any rhythm game. i'm just constantly recalibrating the audio/video timings.

it really does feel like you need the drum or motion with this though.

but wow. I really wasn't expecting this. On xbox of all things, i'm really ok with this. despite my issues, still having alot of fun with it.
If microsoft is the reason this is here, please keep pushing more for this stuff. If it was bamco's idea - thank you for the love of everything. xD

Re: 343 Reveals Halo Infinite Download Sizes For Campaign & Multiplayer

Nalverus

For all the people confused, the main reason why is because the multiplayer is the 'base game' and the campaign is 'dlc'.

you can't pre-download dlc but you can a base game.
so you're gonna need the multiplayer (base) so you can get your hands on the campaign (dlc).

much of the assets is actually already in multiplayer so it makes sense.

Re: Phil Spencer Thinks The Xbox Of Today Could Have Held On To Bungie

Nalverus

I don't know. bungie has just been overly disappointing the past decade to me. i'm not into the whole "endless paid expansions then it get vaulted" thing.

I don't think i'd want current bungie to be dealing with halo. Thats painful as heck to say but they're just not the same people in that studio now. completely different group.

Re: Xbox Has Created An Incredible Virtual Museum For Its 20th Anniversary

Nalverus

man. that took me back. makes me wonder how my stats would've looked after I moved to the PS3 in 2011. have a 1000 more trophies there an ungoldy play time.

Free online at the time really hit home on that move. Weird feeling to have completely moved back to xbox as the main one again.

edit: lol yeah no doubt gears 2 would be my most played.

@Royalblues might be logged into the wrong account on your browser.

Re: Halo Fans Grumble About Infinite's Free-To-Play Model, 'Would Pay Full Price To Unlock All Content'

Nalverus

Quite literally, because the game is F2P, many of my friends (and friends of their friends), and even friends who have never cared or played a halo gave halo infinite a try once more after halo 5 had destroyed all their hopes for the franchise.

All they could do was praise the game an just had a blast with it.
I'd rather the game actually have a playerbase than someone complain theres no unlocks right now or to showcase themselves when not a soul cares what they look like and all they want is to frag them in a match.

Re: Reaction: Looking Back At An Excellent First Year For The Xbox Series X|S

Nalverus

I started with day 1 PS5 and it pretty much went entirely downhill by the 4th month. I loved playing it but the state of the OS (now mostly fixed) and the fact a ram module isn't under a heat sink kept me from playing it more than I wanted.
Started looking for a Series X. Three weeks went by and I had no luck, and a series S popped in front of me so I jumped at it to hold me off till I did find an X. I enjoyed the heck out of it, it was alot better than I was honestly expecting.
Ironically, I did end up nabbing a Series X about 4 weeks later lol... but that S is still a good backup if anything goes wrong with my X.
While its not perfect in xbox land either, i've still been enjoying my time with it alot more than the PS5.

Re: Elden Ring Graphics And Performance Mode Details On Xbox Revealed

Nalverus

@XxEvilAshxX dark souls was always 30fps locked on consoles. it wasn't until dark souls remastered that a console saw a souls game run at 60.

edit: even then, none of them hit a locked 30 lol.
I wouldn't worry about it not hitting its framerate target. like any other game, it'd just use dynamic resolution with some graphical presets flipped or lowered. the biggest hurdle would be the CPU and these games have never been CPU demanding.
