343 Industries issued a hotfix for Halo Infinite multiplayer earlier this month - attempting to resolve the matchmaking issues associated with the Big Team Battle.
Unfortunately, it didn't quite work and eventually led to the team temporarily removing Challenges in the game that required BTB. Now, in the latest update over on Halo Waypoint, 343 has mentioned how it plans to release another hotfix, which it believes will address the "core issue" impacting BTB playlist.
The earliest it expects this hotfix to release is next week on February 3. Here's the full rundown from the game's senior community manager, John Junyszek:
"Using the telemetry we received from the hotfix on January 19, we were able to make a new build with an update that we believe should address the core issue impacting the BTB playlist. The studio ran a successful playtest today and plans to send it off for certification on Monday. After it’s sent off, it will take some time to go through the certification process and to find out if it’s approved. Once it’s approved, we’ll begin preparing to release it to the public. Since there’s still a little more of the internal release process to go through, the earliest we’d expect this hotfix to land would be next Thursday, February 3."
The latest update went on to address the Shop and cosmetics. While the team has heard requests to make individual items within bundles purchasable, this is currently not something the shop supports right now.
"This week we rolled out individual items for the first time in the Shop and have been paying attention to the feedback covering everything from the presentation of items to specific pricing.
"We’ve seen the desire to have bundles, while making the individual items within it purchasable on their own. This is not something the Shop supports right now and we’re evaluating our overall presentation to see how we can better meet the needs and expectations. Through the rest of Season 1, our focus is to provide a better offering of individual items and bundles to help players get the customization they would like without having to buy larger bundles."
Previous bundles will also return to the Shop in time, while others will be "broken up" to allow players to pick up individual items. One item, in particular, that's making a return this season is cat ears (aka Purrfect Audio helmet attachment).
The new Neon Screen and Neon Hawk items available in the latest event, Cyber Showdown, will also be properly aligned by the time Season 2 is released.
"Eagle-eyed players noticed these two Armor Effects weren’t absolutely, perfectly aligned with their Spartans’ helmets, spurring some light-hearted memes. Don’t worry though, we’ve busted out our levels and protractors and will get these centered when Season 2 rolls around."

Personally I think they aren’t fixing things quick enough. Not having BTB work is really really bas.
My friends and I have given up on the ranked playlist at this point. We are all around the Diamond 4/5/6 area and we constant get matched up with 1600+ Onyx players. I’ve been played 1900+ players. The matchmaking is just downright awful. The CSR system is equally bad. You could win more games than you lose in a day and have your rank go down.
It’s a shame because the shooting feels excellent. They just failed miserably at executing everything else in multiplayer.
@FatalBubbles So I’m only ranked 6 Platinum. I roughly go around plus 3 to 5 or negative 3-5 for perspective. But I agree this rank system seems off. Sometimes I even go plus 7 or more in kills, lose the match and lose tons of rank. Long story short, I hate the progression on this game. But have around 100 hours in multiplayer. I agree with you that the shooting feels outstanding and I have fun playing it. Hope they fix the progression system much like gears 5 did. I had 500 plus hours in gears 5 multiplayer.
@Rural-Bandit I preferred when they just had ranks 1-50 and it was dependent upon winning or losing. I think adding the performance based aspect is hurting them because I had a match a couple days back where no one on my team would pick up the oddball. They were just trying to get kills, it was horrible.
Fingers crossed they fix things quickly. The steam player base had lost up to 90% of the players as of last week. I’m afraid if they take too long the game won’t be played much.
I haven't played BTB in weeks. No point.
A little bit of me hopes the update STILL doesn't fix it lmao. Just to see the reaction.
@FatalBubbles I agree with that, I see people not picking up the ball to get kills too and I’m sure you’ve had this happen to you. You start a capture the flag match and 1-3 players quit and you are left running into double teams and getting killed a bunch. I’ve lost sole rank on those, not as much. But I’d like to see them add a bonus if you don’t quit the match and have decent to good results.
I don’t love playing against mouse and keyboard players much, so maybe that’s why my kills have gone up. I’m playing against more console players. But this game will get some good seasons and of course updates and players will come back to it from time to time or so I think. But you nailed it buddy, bring back wins vs losses. No individual stats so players play the game accordingly
🤷♂️
I’ve legit moved on
Would’ve been nice to check it out while the game held my attention though
use MCC for my halo fix every so often because playing infinite with a pad right now is just the most frustrating thing in existence.
The whole Xbox live needed a hot fix at the weekend. I couldn’t get into any multiplayer
