tried a bit on my series X but was just disappointed to not see a 120hz mode. Downloaded it on my pc and been playing 144hz. something about this game with a mouse just feels so right. Alot easier to shoot at something than with the controller in this.
Also a plus that my progress carries between the xbox and Win10 version. Makes it easy to just shift between the two when I feel like it.
will be trying it out on my PC and Series X. looking forward to it heavily. if it lets me down, bummer, but i've got a ton of others coming this year and next year.
@XxEvilAshxX don't ever expect raytracing on the series S in a reasonable manner. the gpu is just severely underclocked compared to the X and a PS5. RE8 showed how poorly that goes. hell, even the PS5 struggled on that front.
played it on PS5 at 120hz. it was definitely blurry and a few random hits here an there BUT HOLY HECK, IT KEPT MAKING THE PING UTTERLY ATROCIOUS. It wasn't that smooth an experience. Utterly strange as none of those issues was in the alpha.
When it became open on the xbox, put it on my series X an tried it at 120hz. Ping was stable with some hiccups but not in the 200-400 range like on my ps5. It was all pretty smooth sailing...till those epilepsy inducing graphic issues hit.
The map design is pretty terrible too. I wasn't going to get it but this really showed me how much I would never get it.
This is just a little ridiculous. As someone who does own a PS5, who got frustrated at needing my PS4 games just to upload a save to their server an then download said save off their server in the PS5 version, who had to deal with this weird as all hell upgrade path sony lays out...
This is disappointing to say the least, especially after BL3 got smart delivery.
@Dezzy70 you'll get an email. after you get the email, download the halo insider app on the xbox, 'apply' for the infinite test, wait for it to show up - usually a couple seconds to a min. when it does, close the app - RESTART THE XBOX < very important, then boot the app again and it should let you download the test build. its important for licensing reasons that you restart the xbox otherwise it'll just download a placeholder instead of the actual build.
@OliverOwen its a direct continuation, leaves right off where the first ended. i'd say yes. or don't, its your choice an its all a game after all but you won't get references or whats even going on probably.
Absolutely. My time with it on the Series X and the PC (not so much the PC cause it just had no optimization under the hood understandably) was just fantastic. Even if it was against bots, I just didn't want to put it down. It just really felt like it had that magic that caught me all those years ago when i was a teen.
Not even cross gen multiplayer. ahaha. I don't know about you but my time with exclusives on PS5 has told me the base is pretty much a ghost town.
Maybe, maybe not cause S is a more appealing to some people and is more widely available, but I just have this feeling the PS5/Series playerbases are gonna be ant sized compared to PCs all inclusive. Got a pretty big feeling the PC base of this game will be the large one.
This is really just a dumb decision, why are they doing paid expansions at this critical transition time? Do they not want players together??
@Marvel_Ham cept that new 360 chipset performed no better than the old 360. there was no power upgrade there, just efficiency at the power level. Games performed no different.
last gen was odd cause hardware refreshes with upgrades was usually just exclusive to handhelds. Before it was just an add on to the system and the only reason it happened then was because the hardware for last gen wasn't honestly not even that good. Didn't even hold up to PC in the slightest.
This gen is honestly very different, very akin to the 90s where the tech in them was bleeding edge. Granted the only true bleeding edge component this time is SSD but both of the SSDs in the PS5 an Series are nuts. The CPU generation its from is not even two years old and they're both using very recent RDNA(2) GPUs along with the fact the RAM is also very recent at GDDR6.
Can upgrades happen? sure, but the average lifespan of a system is 5 years minimum. the last two have been unusually long.
so long as the MP is still worth playing. I can stomach another bad campaign if my main attraction is still worth something.
that said, I didn't think halo 5's campaign had bad ideas, it just had inconsistencies and some pretty bad vehicle levels. It feels more like they're trying to explore what a spartan can do rather than the lore of the universe.
@Fiendish-Beaver quality mode will make it run at 4k resolution at 60 frames. In other words, it will render the image natively at a very large scale. if your tv is 4k, it will make complete use of the picture quality your tv can do.
if you run it in performance it will go from 4k (3840 x 2160) to 2k/1440p (2560 x 1440 pixels). As you can see, the native image quality will drop but it gives some breathing room on the GPU so it can run at 120 frames. Benefit of 120 frames is the image in motion will look much more natural and your inputs will be more responsive.
do quality mode if you want the nicest looking image you can see.
do performance if you want the game to look and feel as responsive as it can be.
edit: imo, a higher framerate is always better than resolution. its just a better experience.
@Dezzy then thats not** gonna happen cause the xbox won't even output 1440 for you. Not unless it gives you the option in the settings, which i doubt you'd set it to that.
besides...these are 10+ year old games from two console gens ago. If the series S couldn't output at least that much, theres something wrong here. massively.
@Carck PS5 is like that cause its a PS4 game and unfortunately, to hit 120, it needs a native PS5 port. Which is stupid, even as I own one I complain about that every day. Its just really stupid but Sony made it run as a PS4 in backwards compat so its entirely limited to 60fps but it really just looks bad.
I'm also still fuming that i have to run it 1080p upscaled and not 4k downscaled so i'm stuck with blurry images and yet none of this is even an issue on my series S.
@Dezzy you really shouldn't worry about that. it'd just downscale it to whatever res your monitor is. it'd look better.
Been enjoying my S but if I was gonna get it, it would've been the PS5 just cause more horsepower but to see it can't even hit 120...? thats disappointing.
@outsider83 its selling at a pace just as strong as the PS5. Its basically in the same issue as the PS5 is atm, but the PS5 restocks at a slightly faster pace.
@thejameswhogames Yeah HDMI 2.0 can do 144fps at SDR. Not like a whole lot of us have HDR TVs/Monitors just yet anyway lolz. I'd take 120fps over HDR anyday.
anyone expecting it to not be like this was absolutely outta their mind lol.
how consoles have been the past year, even with switch stock, and how the PS5 allotment disappeared, people should've expected this. No matter how many systems sell in their lifetime, the launch of it is always gonna be scarce.

Re: Call Of Duty: Vanguard's Beta Begins On Xbox, Free To All This Weekend
played both the alpha an beta on my ps5. the alpha...kinda sucked an the beta is just ridden with latency issues. Its basically WW2 MW.
quite literally, if MW 2019 had a WW2 reskin. thats vanguard.
its still just another cod i'll hard pass on.
