On my Xbox it's Like a Dragon Ishin. Feels like a typical Like a Dragon game but with swords and guns. Have to get used to the different fighting styles but loving the game this far.
On my ps5 it's Hogwarts Legacy. Absolutely amazing game. I love big open world fantasy games with magic and this game is exactly that.
Thank you for the review PJ. Seems this game is getting good reviews all around. Can't wait to start this and spend over 100 hours in yet another Like a Dragon game
@Lup I hope so too m8. But with the popularity of the series nowadays I see the chances as pretty high we get Kenzan as well. Maybe they'll even do a dead souls remake one day
@Friendly If you mean JRPG wise then yeah. We have mostly Sega games left and Ni No Kuni. We do have Monster Hunter Rise & Gundam which are Capcom and JoJo's bizarre adventure which is Bandai and a few Spike Chunsoft games. But yeah the amount of Japanese games in total is still very low. But we all know that is mostly due to the fact that Japanese games usually sell a lot better on Nintendo and Playstation. It's one of the reasons i bought a PS5 as well, since that gives me access to a lot larger jrpg library.
I already felt Alien Isolation was going to leave so got the complete edition with rewards points recently. Also seems to be the end of the Square Enix games on gamepass. Almost all are gone by now.
Gamepass doesn't make me buy a lot less games. I even bought several games I liked thanks to gamepass. Because of gamepass I found the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series and bought every game in the series even though some of them were still on gamepass. For me except for first party titles it's a try before you buy service. I'm mostly playing games on gamepass which I wouldn't buy or first party games. And the bigger ones I end up liking lll buy anyways
@themightyant This is exactly how i see it as well. All those devolopers put their passion for the world into this game and it shows. It's such a beautiful and detailed word and I'm absolutely loving it.
On my Xbox it's a bit of elder scrolls online. Waiting for the release on like a dragon ishin on Friday. So won't dive into a new game. The series is by far my favorite game series so I'm sure I'll have hours of fun. On my ps5 it's Hogwarts. Even as someone who isn't really a Harry Potter fan this game is great. Such a beautiful and detailed world. Really great game
For me the year already started out great with Marvels midnight suns. It's from the end of last year but got it for Christmas. That game surprised me. Not a card game or strategy fan normally, but that game was so much fun. Then out of nowhere cam the brilliant Hifi Rush. Also a game type I normally don't like but they nailed that game. Even someone without rhythm can finish that game. And it's so much fun.
And now I'm playing the amazing Hogwarts. Not a Harry Potter fan, but this game had such a beautiful and detailed world. A great magical fantasy rpg. And next Friday will be pre order day for Like a Dragon Ishin. My most anticipated game of the year even.
Only game I played that I didn't like this year is One piece odyssey. I paused it cause it just didn't click for me. But that might also be since I never watched the anime. But overal such a great start
I dont get these buy one get one free sales. We also had one with Ubisoft games a while back. Considering games from both EA and Ubisoft are usually a lot cheaper than this on regular sales I wonder, what the idea behind these sales is. Are there really people who fall for this BOGOF sale?
@themightyant I finished Sword and Fairy 7 last week. Got it in a sale somewhere in january. As you say it looks absolutely amazing. If Chinese Mythology interests you, I would suggest playing the game. If it doesnt, the story might not interest you enough. The action combat is pretty fun. There are max 4 party where you can freely switch between which all have a different fighting style. Not really spectacular, but not bad either. The game length isn't super long for a RPG either. I think i finished it in like 30ish hours doing a lot of side quests as well. It has some localisation issues. As a non native English speaker they are not always that obvious, but one example is: "that dressing she is wearing" where a dress is meant of course.
Overall i liked the game despite some of it flaws. But the game is not for everyone. If Chinese mythology interests you and you like action RPG you should give it a chance, otherwise it probably is not for you.
Thank you for the review Fraser. Good to see this game is getting some good reviews. I'm not the biggest Harry Potter fan, but love open world games with a fantasy/magic setting. This seems to be right up my alley. This year is starting out great with HiFi Rush and now a good scoring Hogwarts Legacy.
On my Xbox it's One Piece Odyssey. Never watched an episode of One Piece before and then it's a pretty mediocre jrpg. Since I don't want to start something new with Like a Dragon Ishin pre ordered I play a bit of elder scrolls online on the side. One of my go to games when I'm in between other games.
On my ps5 I play Valiant Hearts. A 2d puzzle side scroller from Ubisoft about ww1. That and a bit of Yakuza 6 song of life. Already finished all of them but wanted to play something I know because on Tuesday it's Hogwarts release day.
@FraserG It's a different problem. In Europe we use a comma in currencies instead of a dot. The 360 store can't handle the comma and will go into an infinite loading loop when trying to pay. It has been a known problem for ages and it doesnt seem that they will fix it
@BrilliantBill There should be a workaround to be able to buy it. If you google for it you will find a way how to still be able to buy a game from the European 360 stores.
For me it's a 9/10 game. I am horrible at rhythm games. But this game is just so much fun. The art style is fun, the music is great, the fighting is amazing, especially since you always hit even when you are off beat. It feel like a rhythm version of Devil May Cry. Normally i get annoyed fast when I fail parts of games and have to redo them. But with this game I don't even mind failing a certain part often because i keep clicking the wrong buttons haha. I really hope they will release more passion project like this and pentiment. Not all games have to be AAA blockbuster story games
Already played Ghostwire Tokyo. That game is amazing. Lots of people played it like a linear action game and didn't like it therefore. I played it as a relaxing mythological Japanese open world game with a focus on the central theme. Which I won't spoil for obvious reasons. Hifi rush I am playing through now and that game is great. Such a little gem. Unique game which proves not every game needs to be aaa story driven action game. Redfall looks like like fun as well but not the biggest shooter fan so Starfield gets my vote. SKYRIM in space? Yes please
@Kaloudz The game really is that amazing. It isn't that long (11 hours, for some people thats a great length), the story is good, the art style and music are great and the gameplay is fun. You don't even have to be good at rhythm games to be able to play it. When you attack you always hit on the beat but the closer you do it on the beat the more damage you do. I've only done the first 2 missions yet, but this game is just brilliantly made in every way. Addictive and so much fun. As others have said the positive reviews on steam show it for instance
@Kaloudz The same warning is over on PushSquare as well. it is basically to prevent people spewing hateful comments towards each other over the opinions of the writer, instead of discussing about the game. Thats why these topics get these warnings.
I agree with you that 70 hours to complete a game is fine for an open world game to 100% it (which i probably will if i really like it)
I will definitely play them both later this year. Currently playing Sword and Fairy 7 and One Piece Odyssey at the moment and with Hogwarts and Like a Dragon Ishin around the corner i won't have time for a few months. But i loved 5 that much that i will definitely play them as soon as I can
On my Xbox it's Sword and Fairy Together Forever and One Piece Odyssey. Sword and Fairy 7 is.a fun Chinese action Rpg. Not the most polished but I love the Chinese vibes. I never watched a One Piece episode but the demo convinced me on getting the game. So I'll be playing that as well somewhere this weekend.
On my Ps5 it's Marvels Midnight Suns. Such a great game. It's a mix between a social sim like Persona and a strategy Rpg with card elements. The day and night cycle where you do different things keep it fresh and entertaining. The battles are extremely fun to do. Never played a card battle before but this one is a lot of fun. Really would recommend this game.
Persona 4 for me. P5r was the first persona game I played and I loved it. So looking forward to playing p4g. Monster hunter I'll probably try out for a bit. P3 I'll move to later in the year.
On my Xbox Im playing pentiment. Haven't played much yet, but it seems like a fun game. Kinda old school rpg like. Good to see Microsoft is making these kind of games.
On my Ps5 I'm playing Marvel midnight suns. The game is surprising me. Expected a tactical rpg mostly, but the thing you do most is social interaction stuff. Like doing clubs, events and hangouts with the heroes. The game kinda feels like a mix between persona and x om. Loving it this far
Think it's around 15 to 20 if I include the reward point games. Haven't really counted them. Since I have the S I bought 0 physical. I am buying less and less games. Recently I started to only buy games I will play in the coming month since my backlog already is huge and I still have a lot of games to play on gamepass and ps plus
Going to be a busy period. I want to play p3 and p4, monster hunter rise and One piece odyssey looks interesting as well. Never seen one piece by odyssey looks to be like dq11 and I loved that game. Considering in february hogwarts and Like a dragon Ishin release as well which I both preordered means im set for a few months there
@Kaloudz That one is Like a Dragon Ishin which comes out in February. I already have that one pre ordered. I understand the Yakuza series isn't for everyone. Especially the older ones. You might try Yakuza Like a Dragon which has turn based combat and is an ode to Dragon quest basically. The game also has a new protagonist and can easily be played as first one on the series (that's what I did as well).
I'm currently replaying Yakuza Like a Dragon. One of my favorite games of all time. I generally barely replay games and if I do hardly ever finish them. I just felt like playing a Yakuza game and since Ishin is still 2 months away I decided to give this one a try again. I might start the Quarry which I got on the holiday sale. On my Ps I finished the story in Soul Hackers 2. Might do some trophy cleanup stuff. And if I feel done with it I'll start Marvel Midnight Suns.
Decided to delay my playthrough or Witcher 3 since end of January has some big gamepass releases and februari has Like. A Dragon Ishin and Hogwarts Legacy I will play then. So I'll play it in a more quiet time for the 4 th time
@cragis0001 Yeah i think you right that for some games its all about the money. The weird thing is though, some games like Star Ocean the Divine Force, The Diofield Chronicles and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy reunion all came to Xbox recently. Octopath traveler was on switch and Xbox and part 2 will skip Xbox and go to PS5 while part 1 not being on there. It seems so totally random someimes
It is kinda weird , especially seeing more and more Japanese games on Xbox. Sega, Bandai Namco & Koei Tecmo are putting more and more games on Xbox and SE seems to go the other way after a slew of games on xbox/gamepass. I have all console so can play the games anyways, but i would love to see more multiplat 3rd party games so it gives me a choice where to play a game
Persona 5 Royal mostly. What a brilliant game. Happy to see it on Xbox now. Also still playing Star Ocean the divine force and Gotham Knights which both are enjoyable games.
Dune is the one that looks most interesting but i hardly game on my potato pc anymore. So i hope that one will come to console one day. From the other ones Norco looks to be the most interesting based on reviews.
The games i really want arent far enough down for me yet. Especially since whatever i buy will go to my backlog anyways. Still to busy with P5R, Star Ocean 6 and Gotham Knights and The Witcher 3 follows next month. Ill save Soul Hackers 2, Dying Light 2, Saints Row for a later date. I might get some cheaper games like Cris Tales and Ghostbusters remastered from MS Rewards.
Not a big Potter fan myself, but this game looks exactly like the type of open world game I prefer to play. So I will definitely get this. Combined with Like a dragon Ishin this will keep me busy for a while
I didnt really play on console before this generation. Was mostly a pc gamer. I switched to console for the comfort and lower cost to buy something new. Decided to go with Xbox (have a ps5 now as well) first because of the following reasons :
On my Xbox is persona 5 and Star ocean the divine force. Absolutely loving Persona 5, such a great game. One of the best soundtracks I ever heard, the story is great and the chose what you do each day keeps it fun and entertaining. Star ocean is more action focused jrpg. Liking the dumas fighting system there. Nowhere near the quality of p5r but it's enjoyable.
On my ps5 it's still Atelier Ryza and Gotham Knights. Gotham Knights isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It has its flaws but it's good enough to enjoy it. Ryza is almost done mostly swiping up achievements there to get the platinum.
These 4 games should keep me entertained for the rest of the year probably.
A Plague tale Requiem for me. I just started P5r for the first time so it's way to soon to name that one. Requiem I finished and is currently my game of the year, what a game.
@BBB not that far in yet. I basically just opened the free roaming and now on the quest for Kamoahida treasure. I'm used to slow starts in jrpg so it doesn't bother me, I'm actually liking the start already. The game does a great job in explaining stuff and the soundtrack is amazing. So if the rest gets even better I'm even more hyped to play the rest.
On my ps5 it's Gotham Knights and Atelier Ryza. Nearing the end of the story in Ryza and after that I'll do the rest for the platinum. Loving the relaxed atmosphere in it. Was my first ever Atelier game and it tastes like modem. Gotham Knights is an entertain able game, nothing groundbreaking but not as bad as some people make it out to be.
On my Xbox I started Persona 5 on gamepass. My first ever Atlus game and I can say I'm blown away by the start. Such and amazing game with a stellar soundtrack. Gives me Like a Dragon vibes somehow. I also decided to buy Star Ocean the Divine Force. Which feels a lot like Tales of Arise in a lot if ways. Not very far in yet, but the combat is great and the traversal system in the game with the dumas is actually great. With it you can basically dash through the world making traversal a lot easier.
@UltimateOtaku91 that's a very good question. From what I've read about it, it isn't as big of a difference like Scarlet Nexus was. It's mainly that certain cinematic are different, different characters joining the party etc. It's mainly a backstory/lore thing, since the party is mostly together (at least what I think) for most of the game unlike Scarlet Nexus, where yuito and Kasane where apart for most of the story .
@UltimateOtaku91 tri-ace isn't owned by Square. Square is just the publisher of their games. The owner of tri-ace is Nepro Japan a mobile company.
The financial woes of tri-ace were in the news not long ago. They are in a state of insolvency appearantly so if this game doesn't sell well it might be ths end of the company if it isn't already to late by now
After seeing the reviews yesterday evening I decided to give it a go. I like the gameplay from the demo and decided to wait for the full reviews, since it's fairly good reviews I bought it. Played about 5 hours today. The text is still very small though hoped they would have fixed it since the demo but they didn't. The combat feels very good even with the limited ap system which makes it feel like tales of arise in a bit, but you can easily switch between party members and the usage of the travel robot dumas is actually pretty nice for both combat and traversal as well. It's clear that it's a budget game so not visually stunning or anything but the gameplay if fun until now
Finally the news we were waiting for. Can't wait to play them on console. Aoe 2 and 3 I spent so many hours on in the past, so hope 3 will get a port too soon.
@Dusk_Actual that's a tough question to answer. For me personally it is. But not everyone is the same in that regard. The game gets mixed reviews, so you might not like it and then it would be a waste of the price.so if you're sure you're going to like it, get it, but if you're not sure wait for a sale.
On my Xbox it's the brilliant A plague tale requiem. Such an astonishing game. Graphics, music, voice acting and story are all top level stuff. It puts you on the edge of your seat during the stealth missions and the emotional performance from the voice actors really grabs you. The 30 fps isn't noticeable at all it plays fluidly. So don't let that hold you back from playing this brilliant game. If the rest of the game is like this it will be my personal game of the year.
Also playing Gotham Knights and Ateliers Ryza. Gotham Knights is an enjoyable game. Nothing ground breaking but also not as bad as some people make of it. Atelier Ryza is for the more relaxing moments in between.
@tartanross Me a ps fan boy? Lol wut? Dude I have all consoles and a gaming pc and I game everywhere. The reason why I bought it on playstation and not on Xbox is because I have friends there that also have it so I can play it coop. So no I'm not a ps fan boy I'm a fan of gaming and am enthusiastic about all my consoles, like you know most people on here.

The only I played of this list is soul hackers 2. And that's an OK game. Not as good as the persona games.

Considering in february hogwarts and Like a dragon Ishin release as well which I both preordered means im set for a few months there
Re: Talking Point: What Xbox Games Are You Playing Over The Holiday Period?
@Kaloudz That one is Like a Dragon Ishin which comes out in February. I already have that one pre ordered.
I understand the Yakuza series isn't for everyone. Especially the older ones. You might try Yakuza Like a Dragon which has turn based combat and is an ode to Dragon quest basically. The game also has a new protagonist and can easily be played as first one on the series (that's what I did as well).

Re: Poll: What Were The Best Xbox Game Pass Additions In 2022?
5 a plague tale requiem
4 persona 5 royal
3 mass effect legendary
2 guardians of the gakaxy
1 as dusk falls.
My personal top 5 of gamepass games. A Plague Tale requiem is even my personal game of the year. Loved it that much

I got the Quarry. Was on such a nice sale price now. The only game I'm going to get this sale.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 19-20)
Persona 5 Royal mostly. What a brilliant game. Happy to see it on Xbox now. Also still playing Star Ocean the divine force and Gotham Knights which both are enjoyable games.
Re: Talking Point: As Of Right Now, What's Your Xbox Game Of The Year For 2022?
A plague Tale Requiem for me. Absolute loved that game.
Re: Xbox 360 Action-RPG 'Risen' Is Finally Getting A New Console Port This January
It looks like the type of game i generally like. Never played the original. So am keeping my eye on this one. Looks interesting for sure.
Re: Four Games Are Available Today With Xbox Game Pass (November 17)
Dune is the one that looks most interesting but i hardly game on my potato pc anymore. So i hope that one will come to console one day. From the other ones Norco looks to be the most interesting based on reviews.
Re: Deals: Xbox Black Friday Sale 2022 Now Live, 700+ Games Discounted
The games i really want arent far enough down for me yet. Especially since whatever i buy will go to my backlog anyways. Still to busy with P5R, Star Ocean 6 and Gotham Knights and The Witcher 3 follows next month. Ill save Soul Hackers 2, Dying Light 2, Saints Row for a later date. I might get some cheaper games like Cris Tales and Ghostbusters remastered from MS Rewards.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy Looks Absolutely Stunning In New 40-Minute Gameplay Deep Dive
Not a big Potter fan myself, but this game looks exactly like the type of open world game I prefer to play. So I will definitely get this. Combined with Like a dragon Ishin this will keep me busy for a while
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Thing About Xbox Series X|S After Two Years?
I didnt really play on console before this generation. Was mostly a pc gamer. I switched to console for the comfort and lower cost to buy something new. Decided to go with Xbox (have a ps5 now as well) first because of the following reasons :
-Quick Resume
-Smart delivery
-Backwards compatibility
-Gamepass
i'm still very happy with my purchase.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 5-6)
Re: Pick One: What Was Your Favourite Xbox Game Pass Game In October?
A Plague tale Requiem for me. I just started P5r for the first time so it's way to soon to name that one. Requiem I finished and is currently my game of the year, what a game.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 29-30)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 29-30)
Re: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Star Ocean: The Divine Force
@UltimateOtaku91 that's a very good question. From what I've read about it, it isn't as big of a difference like Scarlet Nexus was. It's mainly that certain cinematic are different, different characters joining the party etc. It's mainly a backstory/lore thing, since the party is mostly together (at least what I think) for most of the game unlike Scarlet Nexus, where yuito and Kasane where apart for most of the story .
Re: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Star Ocean: The Divine Force
@UltimateOtaku91 tri-ace isn't owned by Square. Square is just the publisher of their games. The owner of tri-ace is Nepro Japan a mobile company.
The financial woes of tri-ace were in the news not long ago. They are in a state of insolvency appearantly so if this game doesn't sell well it might be ths end of the company if it isn't already to late by now
Re: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Star Ocean: The Divine Force
After seeing the reviews yesterday evening I decided to give it a go. I like the gameplay from the demo and decided to wait for the full reviews, since it's fairly good reviews I bought it. Played about 5 hours today. The text is still very small though hoped they would have fixed it since the demo but they didn't. The combat feels very good even with the limited ap system which makes it feel like tales of arise in a bit, but you can easily switch between party members and the usage of the travel robot dumas is actually pretty nice for both combat and traversal as well. It's clear that it's a budget game so not visually stunning or anything but the gameplay if fun until now
Re: Microsoft Announces Age Of Mythology: Retold For PC Game Pass
Let's hope this one will get a console port too one day. Loving these games but I barely play on pc anymore.
Re: Multiple 'Age Of Empires' Titles Are Coming To Xbox Series X And S In 2023
Finally the news we were waiting for. Can't wait to play them on console. Aoe 2 and 3 I spent so many hours on in the past, so hope 3 will get a port too soon.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 22-23)
@Dusk_Actual that's a tough question to answer. For me personally it is. But not everyone is the same in that regard. The game gets mixed reviews, so you might not like it and then it would be a waste of the price.so if you're sure you're going to like it, get it, but if you're not sure wait for a sale.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 22-23)
Re: Gotham Knights Divides Critics, Lots Of Different Review Scores
@tartanross Me a ps fan boy? Lol wut? Dude I have all consoles and a gaming pc and I game everywhere. The reason why I bought it on playstation and not on Xbox is because I have friends there that also have it so I can play it coop. So no I'm not a ps fan boy I'm a fan of gaming and am enthusiastic about all my consoles, like you know most people on here.
