Re: Xbox & PlayStation Stuck In 'Complicated' Call Of Duty Situation, Says Geoff Keighley

Lavalera

@themightyant My assumption is that Phil meant that statement mostly for the coop/multiplayer games. He gives the example of 2 kids in one household where one has a xbox and the other a ps and they want to game together, but cant since a game is exclusive. The way the industry seems to shift is to keep those live service games of mp/coop games multiplat. Like with Minecraft of what Bungie is doing with their games. Single player games will most like be or stay exclusive, but games that come with the ABK deal like Diablo, Cod, WoW (if it ever comes to console) will all remain multi console.

I do agree that to much exclusivity isn't good for the consumer, especially the consumer who can't buy all consoles like we can and has to make a choice. On the other hand we are shifting more away from the 1 platform exclusives (well except for nintendo games). Microsoft brings their games to pc, cloud and xbox and even Sony is bringing more and more games to pc as well and it will only be a short time before Sony will go cloud as well. Fun thing in this is though, people always only tend to name xbox and playstation, while Nintendo has by far the most exclusive releases per year.
If the industry keeps shifting like this in 10 years consoles will play a way smaller part than they do now and well shift more to a software market than a hardware market, so with the way it is shifting we will eventually all see less exclusivity and it will be more, which publisher has they best games and brings in the most money.

Re: Xbox & PlayStation Stuck In 'Complicated' Call Of Duty Situation, Says Geoff Keighley

Lavalera

@themightyant Well that statement about Phil is only true if after the 3 years CoD wont come to PS anymore. The fact that a contract was presented for 3 years doesn't automatically mean COD won't come to PS anymore. The current ABK/Sony deal ends after 3 games and with 2 year releases from now on its 4 years in to the future. WIth the 3 years added from Microsoft, will put it around 7 years into the future and imo thats already a long term for a contract, since you never know what the gaming landscape will look like after this and then the contract will be renewed (or if needed renegotiated for new conditions) for a new term.

Re: PlayStation Boss Heavily Criticises Xbox For 'Inadquate' Call Of Duty Offer

Lavalera

@UltimateOtaku91 even if they didn't sign it (let's leave in the middle who is right one is a pro Xbox the other is a pro ps site), the chances are almost next to 0 that no deal would be signed after those 3 years are ended. Most ps fans are loyal and won't move over to Xbox if cod would ever be exclusive. So from a business standpoint making cod makes no sense since the game is such a cash cow. More than 3 years makes no sense since we don't know what the gaming landscape will look like in 10 years from now

Re: PlayStation Boss Heavily Criticises Xbox For 'Inadquate' Call Of Duty Offer

Lavalera

@UltimateOtaku91 Sony hasn't refused the deal, they signed it. As is stated in the article `Jim Ryan has confirmed cod will remain on Ps for 3 more years after the current deal runs out`. And in no way it is being said that after the 3 years it will be exclusive in a normal business situation they will negotiate a new contract by then. And in no way is keeping call of duty off of ps anything ms would want, but because you can't know how the gaming landscape is in 5 years time those kind of contracts never will be for more than a few years.

Re: Review: Steelrising - Spiders Serves Up A Super Solid Soulslike

Lavalera

@UltimateOtaku91 I agree more souls likes need accessibility features or assist mode or whatever they call it. The problem is since some do have it and some don't people tend to keep thinking of "souls like" as difficult games. When the term souls like is being used, i first look if it looks interesting to me and after that i will see if it has those mentioned features. If it doesn't its fine, then ill just move on to another game not every game is for everyone, if it does ill probably give it a swirl. And i know for more people those accessibility settings can be a deciding factor in buying a game or not, so imo it should be clearly mentioned when they are available.

Re: These Eight Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (September 6-15)

Lavalera

@Dr_Luigi Deathloop doesn't get added today on PS plus but on sept 20. Today is the new day for essential games, extra/premium games come on a different day. Also Deathloop came out on sept 14 2021 and usually you are not allowed to communicate anything about games on another platform before the exclusivity runs out. So i expect to hear something about Deathloop on Xbox around sept 14 2022

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 3-4)

Lavalera

On my Xbox im playing Brutal legend. I was in the mood for some Tim Schafer game. Played a bit of it years back in steam but never finished it. Great humor and music with Jack Black as protagonist and a fun mix of action/adventure and rts gameplay.

On my ps5 Im playing trials of mana. Great rpg. In the post game of my first playthrough and going for the plat for sure.

Re: UK Authority Reveals 'Concerns' Over Xbox's Acquisition Of Activision Blizzard

Lavalera

@SplooshDmg I don't think its considered undercutting. Xbox will still offer the means to buy the game for the same price whether you are subscribed to gamepass or not. Undercutting would be if they would charge 50 dollars on xbox and lets say 70 on playstation for exaclty the same product. So the offering on gamepass shouldnt be considered as undercutting and i doubt that will be a problem at all.

Re: UK Authority Reveals 'Concerns' Over Xbox's Acquisition Of Activision Blizzard

Lavalera

Pretty standard stuff in the merger and acquisitions world especially with one this big. Almost all authorities are going to raise these concerns and it's on Microsoft to prove the acquisition won't hurt the competition. As we saw in the leaked stuff from the Brasilian government investigation, their lawyers have all their stuff ready. SO its not concerning at all yet, this is something MS has prepared for from the start

Things start to get tricky when they actually get sued to block the acquisition and i doubt that will happen

Re: Xbox Will Be At Tokyo Game Show 2022 With Japan-Focused Livestream

Lavalera

It's good to see they make such a big effort to get more popular in the Asian market. We already see some fruits of it with Soul Hackers 2 and the Persona games coming to Xbox and i hope this will only get them more ground in those market so we will get mor JRPG and other Asian games over here.

I would love to see them working together with Japanese studios for Xbox exclusive JRPG or get a 2nd Japanese studio, besides Tango Gameworks, to make more Japanese type of games.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Pre-Order Games For Xbox?

Lavalera

@Cherip-the-Ripper How I wish I wouldn't have to put Saints row there. I absolutely love Sr 3 and 4 and was hoping this one would be good, there were just to many red flags. From what I see it's mostly the big open world games that come with the biggest bugs so I tend to stay away from those at launch. If I look at the games I preorder it's mostly in the jrpg genre and those from my experience are finished when they are released . So I know there are games that launch broken and it's sad to hear people like you have bad experience with it. Your first post seemed so generalizing and negative to people who do pre order, that's why I had to react since not everyone has bad experiences or take them and enjoy the game anyways.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Pre-Order Games For Xbox?

Lavalera

I preorder here and there, mostly for the pre order bonuses and games I know which I will like. At the moment hogwarts legacy is the only game I have in preorder, because I know I will enjoy my time in it. And if a new Yakuza game launches it will be an instant pre order as well they always deliver bug free and good games. If I know a game will be to short for its price or may contain to many bugs I'll just wait

Re: Video: Here's 25+ Minutes Of Persona 5 Royal On Xbox Ahead Of Game Pass Launch

Lavalera

Last year Ive become more and more a fan of jrpgs and it was one of the reasons I bought a ps5. Seeing more jrpgs coming to Xbox is great. I prefer to chose where to play a game and seeing more jrpg coming to Xbox gives me that choice. Even though I already own it on Ps5 I'm going to play it on Xbox, just to show I want more jrpg on there. And I know 1 person won't change a thing but you know I like to think it does at least a tiny bit

Re: Pick One: Which Of These 'TBA' Xbox Games Are You Most Excited For?

Lavalera

From what I know from the games probably avowed. But almost all of them are high on my list except Everwild, state of decay and the Kojima game. The Kojima game since we know nothing about it,. State of decay is like a survival type of game which isn't my thing, tried 2 for a bit but mweh. Everwild I have no clue what it is supposed to be now especially since it supposedly restarted with a new idea. But who knows I'll get excited about those 3 in the future as well if we know more. For me the most exciting ones are the action adventure rpg games or a combination of those that's my favorite game type.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 27-28)

Lavalera

On my Xbox it is ff13. Actually enjoying that one. I know there is a lot of hate it for it but won't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. It still feels like a typical final fantasy game to me. Besides that also still working on my trial run in Elden Ring. Kinda trying samurai and astrologer out which one I want to play on a full run. Taking my time to figure things out.

On my ps5 trying to get the last trophy for God of war, that valkyrie queen is something else even on easy mode it seems tough. Furthermore it's Trials of mana, which is a very relaxing jrpg.

Been a while since I had 4 games open to play, although God of war is only a trophy I want to get. And I still have cult of the lamb and soul hackers 2 I want to get. To many games and not enough time lol

Re: Xbox Boss Explains Two Things That 'Drove Our Interest' About Activision Blizzard

Lavalera

Pretty logical. Phil has said that their goal is to reach the 3 billion gamers. Since they don't have a strong presence in the mobile and pc market, ABK i a good deal. Blizzard always has been mainly a pc developer and King with Candy Crush is hugely successful on mobile. Besides those 2 markets they want to get a bigger share in, they also get Call of Duty, and whether people like it or not is one of the best selling game series out there.

Re: Reaction: Will Xbox Follow PlayStation In Raising Console Prices?

Lavalera

Hard to say. The dollar gained a lot of worth compared to other currencies making it less interesting to sell the same product in Europe for instance since they get less dollars per console sold than before because of the exchange rate . Since the largest part of Xbox sales are in the US Microsoft will be less impacted than Sony which sell alot better in non US countries. So ms will probably have less need to raise their prices

Re: Gotham Knights Heads To Xbox A Little Earlier Than Expected

Lavalera

@PhileasFragg i didnt say that was nonsense, i said the reasons you brought up in your first reply "games may contain bugs or may be bad" are nonsensical reasons to not pre order. The same thing can happen when you buy a game after release.
I pre order only games i am absolutely sure i am going to enjoy and from studios i know i can trust with a good day 1 release. I can't name a single game i pre ordered which was broken at launch or i didn't like.
pre orders usually give you a certain in game bonus, sometimes early acces sometimes bonus skins or whatever, so yeah there still are incentives to pre ordering even when done digitally

Re: Gotham Knights Heads To Xbox A Little Earlier Than Expected

Lavalera

@PhileasFragg That's always such a non sensical argument. I've also bought a lot of games when on sale which got rave reviews which I didn't like like red dead 2x gta v and sekiro to name a few. Besides not every game is like cyberpunk when it releases. With the latest 5 games I pre ordered I had no problem whatsoever. It's a matter of picking the studios you feel confident pre ordering with and know can deliver good quality and being absolutely sure the game is for you. And with pre-orders I didn't have a game yet that I didn't like

Re: 'Wyrdsong' Is An Upcoming AAA RPG From Ex-Fallout & Skyrim Developers

Lavalera

I'm having a hard time getting excited by just a trailer alone. Yeah it's cool that industry veterans make it, but until i see actual gameplay or know what the game is about i can get excited about it to be honest. RPG's can be a lot of things and im not a fan of all type of rpgs so until i know whats it like i cant be excited

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022?

Lavalera

It was okish at best. Mostly trailers which doesn't say a thing about the game. 3 million souls clones, games we saw a million times like calisto (looks so generic horror) and Gotham knights. Dead island 2 was the only one where I had like ok this looks like a fun new game, well it had been announced multiple times before but not in this form. Just like the summer game fest 2 hours was waay to long. And stuff like a Pokémon car and a podcast announcement were pure unnecessary fillers

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 20-21)

Lavalera

On my Xbox it's ff13 and Elden ring. Just started ff13 so can't say much about it yet. I think it's the only one left on gamepass so had to try that. Still also taking baby steps in Elden Ring with my Samurai. Just roaming around in limgrave back and forth and seeing what I can find and staying away from everything that's big and ugly, baby step by baby step at a time.

On my ps5 I'm working towards the plat on God of War. Those valkyries are no pleasure not even on easy hehe. Still need to do some collect stuff and the valkyries.

Re: Redfall's 'Expansive' Open World Is Arkane's Largest To Date

Lavalera

I'm looking forward to this. The first time i saw it i had the idea it was just another coop shooter like Left for dead and such. But since seeing more and more from it and it being a single player FPS/RPG combination which can be played coop, it keep getting me more and more interested in this game. I cant wait to play this now and that while im not the biggest shooter fan generally.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your 2022 Game Of The Year So Far?

Lavalera

Out of this list i only played Tiny Tina, As Dusk Falls and Lego Star Wars. I'm currently playing Elden Ring, but that won't be my game of the year. I think it's a good game, even though i'm not into souls games or challenging games generally, but personally i don't see it as my favorite game of the year. On Xbox side with this list i would pick Lego Star Wars. My actual personal favorite game of the year is Horizon Forbidden West, which is exactly what I am looking for in a game.
But yeah it's been an okish year of gaming until now, especially with all the delays. Let's hope next year we will see less delays

Re: PSA: Deathloop Could Potentially Hit Xbox Game Pass In Under A Month

Lavalera

@Kaloudz yeah pretty sure I saw a post on here with what they are going to show. It's mostly deep dives in announced games. To be fair I actually prefer the 12 months approach over the here are some games you'll one day get Ina few years but we don't know when approach. Sure it's nice to know what they are working on but I prefer knowing what I can play in the coming months

Re: Xbox Game Pass Is Hurting Right Now, But Larger Forces Are At Play

Lavalera

The game industry as a whole has been lackluster especially on the aaa front. Almost every one of them has been delayed or pushed out of the year. So there aren't many aaa games they can even add. Dying light 2, Lego star Wars and Elden ring ain't gonna happen and besides those we barely had any other releases. So yeah I don't think it's that weird gamepass has been filled with aa indies and old aaa games since there weren't many games to be added and the few interesting games won't happen since they will be to expensive to add. So yeah meanwhile I just keep enjoying the aa indie games they keep adding.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 13-14)

Lavalera

On my Xbox it's Solasta crown of the magister. Isometric crpg. Pretty enjoyable game, isn't my type of game normally so it's a bit getting used tobut tis enjoyable. Slowly taking baby steps in Elden Ring as well. Challenging and me normally isn't a good combi so I take my time and so things extremely slowly seeing if I can get more confident in it.

On my ps5 I'm playing God of War. Finished the story and now doing the post game stuff for the platinum
