@Royalblues ikr lol. A lot of Sony only fans like to tell themselves that it's only due to chip shortages instead of the actual smart business decisions ms made combined with the shortages.
@RevGaming if you consider gamepass subscribers as cheap people you should also include average Joe which only plays minecraft fifa fortnite or war zone on a console (which is the majority of gamers). Sure Xbox needs to have more exclusives and they working hard on them, but I have no doubt games like starfield, hellblade 2 avowed and such all are going to be successful. For me the only Sony game this generation that made it worthwhile to buy my ps5 was horizon. It's not like all games they release are for everyone either. Just like rural explained above.
@RevGaming I don't think it's that surprising at all. The average consumer will easily go for a series s gamepass combo. I hear a lot of people, even life long playstation fans getting their first ever Xbox (granted as second console but still) because of gamepass. Microsoft made a very smart move to prioritize the series s over the x, especially now they can gain a lot of ground now and got all the positives on their side. A lot of people underestimate the power of the series s. For average Joe the graphics don't matter as much, not everyone has a 4k TV and the ssd isn't a problem if you play like 2 or 3 games at once at most. Later on with more games out they will prolly sway over some more hardcore gamers, so I expect a pretty close Gen this time, especially seeing the markets where Xbox did bad last Gen, Europe and Asia, are doing way better than last Gen and are a lot closer.
@Banjo- I'm sure it will be a lot better than it was during last Gen. A lot more people seem to like the general strategy of Xbox this generation. They aren't there yet and gamepass isn't for everyone, but when the exclusives start rolling out I can see a bright future for Xbox. They prolly won't outsell the ps but getting close enough or around the same number should already be something to be proud of
@Rural-Bandit exactly this. Seeing Xbox has becoming friends with Sega and putting Bandai and square games on gamepass already is noticeable in sales in Japan. They just need to do more marketing over here in Europe. Everyone I know is only talking about playstation or Nintendo and not many people are enthusiastic about Xbox. But who knows if we get more active marketing Xbox can gain ground over here as well.
Seeing the Activision acquisition already isn't a sure thing buying another big publisher after that will be an even less sure thing. Seeing that the Ftc and Doj have to be more strict in preventing the big tech companies from growing even bigger and becoming monopolistic , I doubt we'll see another acquisition besides maybe some smaller studios.
Playing Lost in Random on my Xbox on gamepass. Fun game with a Tim Burton like graphics style and unique combat . On my ps5 I'm playing Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana. A very fun action jrpg.
Good to see Xbox is doing good again this generation. They have learned a lot of lessons from the XBO generation and aren't there yet, we still have to see the fruits of all the studio acquisitions, but if the games start rolling out i don't see it doing worse than the 360 generation in the end.
@Balta666 There have been rumors about a xbox port for ffxiv for ages now. Last October game director Yoshi P said they are having positive talks with Xbox about an Xbox version. If a version comes i don't expect it before the end of endwalker or at 7.0, but i definitely believe an xbox version will come one day, just have to be patient.
@GrizzledVeteran I'm kinda like you but started with Valhalla and then did Odyssey. Never loved the old ones, but valhalla and odyssey easily got over 140 hours sinked into them. Origins is a bit more like the older games i feel, i'm having trouble getting into that one, but that also might be since i basically played all 3 in a row. I still have it installed but im trying to play some different things now and see if i can get back in Origins later, but somehow it doesnt seem to click with me like Odyssey and Valhalla does.
I played this day one on my Xbox. The trailers made me very interested in this game and i wasn't disappointed at all. Its a fun anime style arpg game and it's good to see more people got to enjoy it thanks to gamepass. This just shows that gamepass opens games up for new audiences, the same happened for me with the Yakuza series, which thanks to the availability are now my favorite game series that i played and i bought every single one of the them after playing them.
@suikoden Every sale seems to be the same lately. It's mostly the same games rotating in different names of sales. The ones i wanted to buy i own already, except a few which never seem to go on sale.
A lot. I bought a lot of games in sales that were cheap and look interesting. But haven't been able to play a lot of them. Luckily it doesn't include titles which cam to gamepass lol
@themightyant we are having a lot of those lately. Same happened with stranger of paradise final fantasy origins and ghostwire Tokyo. That's why I'm happy this is on gamepass at least I can try this for "free". For the non gamepass games I usually try to watch video reviews and see if I might like the game
Ghostwire Tokyo on Ps5 and Tiny Tina on my Xbsx. Ghostwire Tokyo is a very cool game. I couldn't wait a year until it came to gamepass so I decided to already buy it and glad I did. Tiny Tina is borderlands with a nice twist. Normally not the biggest shooter fan but I like the art style and humor of the borderlands games, so that's why I got it day 1. Monday the Kaito files dlc for Lost Judgment will come out. So many good stuff in such a short period. Guess I'll hold off with Lego star wars, the coming months seem to be a bit more quiet with games that interest me, so I can finish the games I bought and started first so I can make more room for other games later on
I'm interested in ac infinity, immortals 2, the avatar game and if it ever comes out beyond good and evil 2. I actually love the large open style games (always been a mmorpg player so am used to them), so looking forward to way ac infinity will be sounds like a mmorpg type with expansions on it. Immortal fenyx rising was on of my favorite games in 2020. So I can't wait to see a sequel to that
If everything comes out that is supposed to come out it might be one of my personal contenders of game of the year if it is really as good as I hope it will be (and I'm not even a Potter fan). Currently it is Horizon for me. But starfield God of war and this look like contenders for my personal goty
I'm playing strangers of paradise on my Xbox and Ghost of Tsushima DC on my Ps5. The gameplay of Stangers is pretty fun especially if you ignore the story and don't mind the graphics. Ghost is a true classic, loving the Samurai vibe
@NeutronBomb not everyone is playing Elden ring. I got my platinum on hfw already and haven't played a second of Elden Ring yet. I'm waiting a bit with getting that since some other games got my attention more and I'm not the biggest souls fan
Far too many lol. I bought my first ever playstation console so bought some exclusives and games not released on Xbox like persona and such . Main game recently being horizon forbidden west which I finished. I preordered strangers of paradise and tiny tinas wonderland on my Xbox and ghostwire Tokyo on my ps5. My Xbox will still stay my go to console for third party but it has to share its time with my ps5 now
Congratulations to Microsoft for this! Even though not all these games are my cup of tea i can see them being rated this high. I absolutely loved Psychonauts 2 and had a good time playing the Halo campaign. Deathloop i didn't play yet since i only recently got my ps5, so i'll wait until it is on Gamepass. Fh5 and MSFS are not for me but i tried them both a bit so see what they and can understand people can find enjoyment in these type of games. Aoe4 ill wait playing until the console version comes out.
Looks very good! I absolutely love Valhalla. I've always been a mmorpg player so I'm used to large games. I think I'm on like 160 hours now. At the moment I'm still playing Horizon but after that and the Kaito files from lost judgment I think I 'll play this one
This is a bad change for everyone except the people in the US and UK I guess. The rest of the world doesn't really have all the bonus rewards that those people have. It's double sad considering we pay more per game compared to those countries as well
Tiny tina and stranger of paradise for me on Xbox. And ghostwire Tokyo I'll get on the ps5 that game lookslike my cup of tea and I don't want to wait a year really.
March is for me what Feb was for a lot of others packed full of my type of games
@xMightyMatt14x I think you're right. There might be a 2nd team working on a smaller scale ue5 game but I don't think it's more. Every studio is always working out potential new ideas for new games which have to go through several concept phases. Hence the unannounced projects
@PanFriedSoup for me it differs how much I like a game. I did buy all yakuza games after playing them on gamepass. Same with middle earth shadow of war and a few more. If I really love the game I'll buy it. For me gamepass is like a try before you buy service basically. Games I think which are bad or meh I won't buy
Dying light on my series s didn't finish it before part 2 came so part 2 I'll get later this year when things calm down with big releases . Horizon zero dawn on my ps5 finishing it up before hfw comes next week.
I might be in the minority here but I actually found the older ac games boring. Odyssey and valhalla I loved and played fully. The older ones I could never finish. So no big open world is a skip for me
