Re: Random: Of Course, Somebody Has Made UK Bakery Greggs In Far Cry 5

Kienda

See, MGM, you don’t take legal action against the people for making things in a game.

I feel bad for the guy who made Goldeneye levels. He didn’t use their characters or story and broke no rules. I mean, what’s next? Are they gonna sue Minecraft for fan made projects or Lego for kids recreating things they see in movies. MGM are so stupid.

Re: Xbox Is 'Committed To Creating' A Safe LGBTQIA+ Community For Gamers

Kienda

@xMightyMatt14x I agree completely.

There is an inability for people to understand that online outrage is a very niche thing and doesn’t represent popular opinion.

Take Twitter for example. It’s user base is around 1-2% of the global population and it is lopsided in terms of demographics. That user base has a much higher percentage of far left people than the general population. There are a lot more activists on Twitter etc.

People (politicians/corporations/media) need to understand that Twitter is not popular opinion. It is a very one-sided world view and often times an extreme one at that. The vast majority of the world are centrist - in all countries. Politicians who stick closer to the centre win elections. Companies that stay away from either extremes of politics or stay neutral usually get more customers because they don’t alienate one side or the other.

We need to let the crazies be crazy and stop listening to them.

Re: Xbox Is 'Committed To Creating' A Safe LGBTQIA+ Community For Gamers

Kienda

@LordMonkfish @LordMonkfish jokes and insensitive comments are not exactly a sign of people who need to hear this message. In the West most people are tolerant and while some joke, most will defend the right of others to express themselves as they please. Not all are tolerant, but you can’t make everyone think the way you want them to.

It must be stressed though that most of the ‘Pride Month’ stuff is just Western corporations cashing in on the popularity of it all. It’s almost like Halloween or Christmas. An event during the summer lul to generate revenue.

They only seem to have this righteous approach in regions where they know it will help them financially. Look at Xbox, Bethesda and so many others. They changed their logos to rainbows everywhere except in the Middle East and Russia - places where there is not nearly as much tolerance and the real places that need to hear this message. It happens across the board with companies not just gaming ones.

Why?

Because promoting Pride Month in the West makes good business sense. Promoting it in other regions does not.

It’s all about money.

Re: Xbox Is 'Committed To Creating' A Safe LGBTQIA+ Community For Gamers

Kienda

Personally I haven’t witnessed much anti-LGBTQ+ stuffs, but have seen a lot of toxicity in online gaming over my many years. Anything to help clear that up is appreciated.

I think though we also have to accept sometimes it’s just human nature for some people to get angry and be a-holes.

I don’t think we can irradiate that toxicity totally unfortunately.

Re: Slime Rancher 2 Wiggles Over To Xbox Game Pass At Launch In 2022

Kienda

@John117 yeah, I think most gaming companies forget kids exist. Hehe.

I know the main market for gaming is largely adults, but most of us adults with kids also have to temper the horror/gore/swearing in games and play milder offerings, but we don’t want to play kids games so there is a balance finding the right fits. Thankfully there are great options for all ages/styles but most of the games revealed by Bethesda/Xbox I couldn’t play while the kids are awake, for example.

Re: Slime Rancher 2 Wiggles Over To Xbox Game Pass At Launch In 2022

Kienda

This is awesome! My kids love Slime Rancher and I just showed them the trailer and they can’t wait.

For anyone with kids (5-12) this comes highly recommended. They get to round up and farm these slimes which you have to feed and they produce gems you collect, you then use these gems to upgrade your ranch. The game offers a good sense of adventure and accomplishment, some fun puzzles and it is super child friendly.

Re: Video: Here’s Your First Look At Battlefield 2042, Arriving This October

Kienda

@Oval_Griffin @Syndrome I was actually thinking the opposite.

While it can’t ever happen in real life (no pilot would carry a rocket launcher in their pocket for one) but it’s these crazy feats we try to achieve in the game and they honoured that in trailer.

All of us BF players have tried jumping from one aerial vehicle into another or tried hitting a chopper with our jeep. And I think it was fun of them to try and add some of this stupidity into the trailer.

Re: Leaked Early Cyberpunk 2077 Pre-Alpha Footage Shows Bugs And Glitches Galore

Kienda

“We didn’t encounter many of these bugs… we just made a video montage and laughed our asses off as we raked in millions of dollars from you suckers.”

I’m sorry, but CDPRekt can’t feign ignorance anymore. They released a game that was half baked and they knew it. It had massive performance issues on older consoles, too many bugs to ignore AND failed to live up to the marketing promises made.

It was pure greed from the men in suits (management and shareholders) who pushed the game out before it was ready failing both the developers and their customers. Screw them.

Re: Balan Wonderworld Creator Yuji Naka Confirms Departure From Square Enix

Kienda

@gingataisen well, maybe he means retire from the gaming industry?

As he is a creative person I have no doubts he will continue to be creative and do things of value with his life, but his career in gaming may be over.

My Grandpa retired from engineering at 50. He cared for my grandma full time as she had health problems. But he also perused his hobbies, winning multiple national awards for photography and he taught it locally for free. He was a skilled metal worker who made ornaments and gates and things for neighbours, again for free. And every year at Christmas he made the most amazing Christmas light displays and allowed families to walk around his garden and different kids would turn on each night which the local council honoured him with an award for just before he died.

Retirement doesn’t mean you stop doing anything.

Re: CD Projekt Reports A Drastic Drop In Profits Following Cyberpunk 2077

Kienda

I think CDPR paying for their mistake will be a good thing for the industry.

We consumers are often treated poorly with buggy, rushed games because corporate suits seek profit over quality. And this is one of the first times this backlash is biting back against the bigwigs.

Likely though those big wigs will still get their bonus cheques. But at least the company won’t do this again and other companies will think twice before releasing a game before it is ready.

Re: Video: Here's A Look At Unreal Engine 5 Running On Xbox Series X

Kienda

It’s funny seeing the comments (not just here) of Xbox vs PS5 vs PC all dissing each other.

Can’t we all just appreciate how amazing this is and be happy that all three formats can utilise this new technology to make us great games?

I don’t care what console you have. All of them will give you an amazing gaming experience. And it’s best to focus on your happiness than try to win one up on others.

Re: Pick One: Which Platforming Hero Is Your Favourite?

Kienda

I chose Sonic as he is the most iconic. He and his plumber rival (now friend) clearly helped to bring gaming to popularity and shaped the early years of home consoles.

Banjo and Kazooie hold a special place in my heart though.

Obviously this only includes Xbox platformers, but there are some others out there that would sit alongside these from other companies.

Re: Microsoft Kicks Off Its 20 Years Of Xbox Celebrations

Kienda

I’m an original Xbox owner and one of the lucky ones to have owned every console made by Sega, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft (my parents really supported my brothers and my gaming habit).

I remember the classics of that era, Halo, Fable, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and of course Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

Three teenage boys played that game to death for erm... the gameplay and well written story of course.

Re: Soapbox: Even The Terrible Games Have Some Good In Them

Kienda

People are obsessed with what is popular or looking for the “best”. But when you get older you realise it is about what YOU enjoy not what others tell you to like.

We all have games we treasure that are bad or flawed games. But it doesn’t stop us from loving them. Especially when we play them as children and our perspectives are different.

I’m sure Balan Wonderworld really is some child’s favourite game of all time and they are oblivious to the controversy. And there’s gotta be an Anthem diehard playing it every day with a smile on their face.

Play the games you like and don’t feel guilty for liking them. You’ll have a much better gaming experience as a result.

Re: Guide: Games With Mouse & Keyboard Support On Xbox One, Xbox Series X

Kienda

Wish Destiny was on this list.

Personally, I really appreciate the M&K support from Xbox. I am a console and PC gamer but having played competitively on FPS games in my teens and early 20s I just can’t play them on controller without feeling frustration because I can’t aim properly compared to the mouse. I know what I want to do, but I can’t execute the action.

I have friends who can aim well on controller and they can’t use M&K, but I’m the opposite and as such I generally play them on PC. The exception is Destiny 1 which I love. If that had M&K support or was released in PC I would enjoy experiencing it all over again but with a M&K.

Re: Design Director Of New Perfect Dark Game Leaves The Initiative

Kienda

@CRAZYGREG0511 I think there is always secrecy around new games. They don’t put out job listings saying “Game Designer for Perfect Dark” because that will leak the game being in development and the studio might just be experimenting on the game for 2 years and then shelving it. There are so many games that never see the light of day and no one ever knows about. They also would tell someone until they are in the job and contracts signed for the same reason to stop leaks.

He says himself he joined a new group and after two years has good friends. So I’m also assuming he now is established in his role and has good connections. I’m preferring to take the man at his word. If he has personal circumstances, dying mother, failing marriage, personal health issues or whatever he isn’t necessarily going to broadcast those things.

Anyways, if he’s talented and still passionate for gaming, hopefully he will return one day to the field and we will experience more of his work. His resume is already quite impressive with the games he’s worked on.

Re: Hitman 3's Console Version Looks Best On Xbox Series X, Confirms Report

Kienda

Well, as usual, the graphics arguments are coming in again and the fanboys are trying to get one up on the other.

As a multi platform gamer, it’s nice to know the options I have. I would imagine because of XSX’s power and the insanely good value of Game Pass I will likely play most third party games on XBox and save the PS5 for the Sony exclusives.

If you only have one console though, whichever next gen system you get, you’re going to have a great time. So don’t listen to the fanboys. There is no right or wrong.

Having said that, I still can’t get my hands on either an XSX or PS5 so gotta play the waiting game.

Re: Xbox Creator Offers Support For Teenage Fan 'Insulted In The Press'

Kienda

I’m guessing the kid’s relationship with his parents isn’t the best. I mean, as a parent I would never shame my children publicly like that.

I’m sure my son would game 40 hours a week EASILY if I left him to it, but I don’t.

That’s not because I simply ban him from games, but I entertain him outside of games and teach him about getting the balance right (heck, I game too).

He is learning piano, does tennis lessons (when not in lockdown). We do daily exercise together (throwing a ball, cycling or going for a walk). We have every meal together, which includes socialising time together, and we regular have board game time and movie nights as a family.

We are not the most active family but we all commit to spending time together as well as giving each other time for our hobbies and it works well.

But I feel the parents are responsible for this. They have to invest time into him (or even money) if they want him to peruse other hobbies alongside gaming.

Re: A Group Of British Politicians Want To See Console Scalpers Banned

Kienda

Part of the solution would be to limited the number people can pre-order and also, after release, allow people to order the item and add themselves to a waiting list/queue for when stock is out.

This completely neutralises the bots. They can’t order up all the stock at 3am when everyone is asleep and those waiting for stock don’t have to keep trying and being disappointed because they can’t click fast enough to order when limited stock is available.

I’d much prefer to place an order now and get my Xbox guaranteed in March than keep trying and failing until then. That’s why I’m not bothering until there is enough stock. I’m too old for this sh...stuff.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions Of The Xbox Series X|S?

Kienda

@antstephenson I feel your pain with the UI.

Moving from PS4 took me a while to work out when setting up my son’s Xbox One and it was (and still is) messy and unintuitive compared to the PS4. And apparently the new XBox has the same UI.

I remember reading a comparison and someone said that Xbox’s UI showed how Microsoft was superior at software design compared to Sony... I’ve never felt so lied to in my life.

Having said all that, the good news is you get used to it! And I think it does have some better features once you understand it.

Re: Mojang Reveals The First DLC Pack For Minecraft Dungeons, Arrives This July

Kienda

@gingataisen the problem is money.

As a family we are on a very tight budget and we got the Game Pass recently because we found a good deal with one of the main reasons for buying it being this game. A game my children have played a lot.

Hopefully the DLC won’t cost too much but it is unfortunate so close after release. Would just be nice if it was included in the Game Pass.

That’s all I’m saying.

Re: Mojang Reveals The First DLC Pack For Minecraft Dungeons, Arrives This July

Kienda

@gingataisen thanks for the info.

I gotta say, I agree with @pip_muzz on this one. I don’t understand why this DLC is being released so close after launch and personally I question why it isn’t free on Game Pass Ultimate. You pointed out it was a cheaper than regular games but on Game Pass we get full priced games for ‘free’ on launch, but cheaper ones we have to pay extra for the DLC and that DLC is so close to launch it was clearly being developed before release.

I don’t agree with this practice and think it is poor form.
