Unless you've been living under a rock, the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't the best. Not counting the issues it faced on last-gen systems, it was also plagued with bugs, broken quests, and glitches. Following the cyber attack on CD Projekt earlier this year, internal bug compilation videos appear to have leaked online, showing a range of technical issues that were compiled together before the game's launch.
The since removed videos (but captured and saved to view on VGC), showcase a wide range of technical issues in the pre-alpha stages of the game, from broken NPCs to falling through the map. It's important to note that these issues, and even compilation videos, are generally common during a game's development. But due to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, fans have been quick to jump on the footage.
A since deleted tweet from one of the game's developers seemingly proves the legitimacy of the videos. It was said to be a "fun composition of bug materials collected", and is claimed to have reached back years.
A similar video was created by CD Projekt Red for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It seems these videos were once intended to be shared with the public, but following the reception were held back. Again, it's important to reiterate that these videos are common in games development, but it is an amusing look at years of bugs and glitches the team have been faced with.
CD Projekt has reported a massive drop in profits since the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, despite last year being their most profitable year thus far. A next-gen version is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2021, which will hopefully reignite the excitement for the game with a more polished version. Hopefully...

Here's my thing about Cyberpunk. I played it at launch. Finished the main story (didn't do too much exploring). I liked the story and thought it had a perfect lenght to it. The problem I had with the game is that it is kind of boring and not as engaging as I thought it would be. I'll probably do a second playthrough when the XS version is out, even if I'm not that excited about it.
Pre-alpha? That’s a stage before dev-testing, which is a stage before QA testing, which is a stage before compliance testing, which is a stage before gold master and submission, which is a stage before approval, which is a stage before production, which is a stage before retail release.
So in other words: Release day footage
“We didn’t encounter many of these bugs… we just made a video montage and laughed our asses off as we raked in millions of dollars from you suckers.”
I’m sorry, but CDPRekt can’t feign ignorance anymore. They released a game that was half baked and they knew it. It had massive performance issues on older consoles, too many bugs to ignore AND failed to live up to the marketing promises made.
It was pure greed from the men in suits (management and shareholders) who pushed the game out before it was ready failing both the developers and their customers. Screw them.
Don't really see how this is news worthy outside of the curiosity about what it looked like in the early days of development. Pre-alpha is always notorious for being buggy and unfinished for obvious reasons. Some of the stuff is pretty funny though, you can tell some people were having a good time with it.
