Oops, The Plot For The Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Movie Has Leaked

The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was surprisingly good. After the backlash of the original design, the creators went back to drawing board, came up with a new model, and the final result was a fun romp. The sequel is set to hit movie theatres next year, but now it seems the plot for the film has leaked before intended.

As spotted by our friends over at Nintendo Life, the full synopsis has been revealed following copyright made by Paramount Pictures and Sega. It sounds like business as usual for Sonic, as a big baddy is on the prowl and he must save the day.

For those who want to go in blind, there's a few minor spoilers ahead, but here is the full synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog 2:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is ready for more freedom, and Tom and Maddie agree to leave him home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner are they gone, when Dr. Robotnik comes back, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to both build and destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. Being directed by Jeff Fowler, and starring Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz.

The inclusion of Knuckles and Tails has been no secret. Set photos have revealed the pair will be in the film as their props have been spotted by some eagle eyed viewers. It'll be interesting to see Knuckles pair up with Dr. Robotnik (who was played incredibly by Jim Carrey in the previous film and returning here), and with filming wrapped up, we may get a trailer in the next few months.
