@GeminiX53 Yes! That is the infamous response. You know cause all stuff they have on their hard drives last forevvvvvver. Hard drives never crash, break, corrupt, fail, etc.
Nope. Never.
I paid good money for my home theater setup. I expect to get full value out of it. All digital is basically equivalent buying Lamborghini and only live in school zones.
They are very, very, very, desperate to do anything to keep afloat the failing and unsustainable game pass business model.
Only way it has chance to survive is $45-$50 minimum monthly subscription. Majority will (and rightfully so) turn their noses up at that ridiculous expense.
@GeminiX53 "unlike video games, physical music and film are still very much catered for"
And the quality for physical movies and music is SUPERIOR by leaps and bounds to streaming rubbish.
If want quality and best experience, physical media is the ONLY way to go. Especially with how entertainment is being censored, edited, and/or deleted. The original vision of entertainment is being destroyed and ruined by small percentage of people that really not represent the majority on a good day.
The "selling more" is incredibly weak argument. Taco Bell sells millions every day. It's the epitome of low quality and over priced (just like Series S). Willing bet good money majority of Series S sales were due to game pass people. Which is fine if enjoying lower tier games is your thing. I lost my desire for playing game boy color games over 25-30 years ago. And do not even try the Expedition 33 argument. For every one of them, there are over hundred game boy color level games on game pass. Plus, game pass gets closer to verge of collapse every day due to its unsustainable business model.
Xbox would been absolutely fine this gen without it. Honestly been better off. Lowest common denominator developers would had work with been Series X or PS5. Which resulted in better experience for everyone involved. Mainly game journalism could covered more genres instead of the "Series S is weak sauce or not running game X for this X reasons this week" articles.
So, again, please spare me the Series S sold more rubbish arguments.
@TDHorizon Wholeheartedly agree the idea was good and can see the appeal of it.
But it's just one of those scenarios of, looks great on paper, terrible idea when put in practice. Microsoft NEEDS to learn and understand from this and not make same mistake next gen.
@Scrubchub There is no sarcasm. The Series S is mistake, holds Series X (possibly this whole gen) back, has history of technological issues due to Microsoft trying to justify its existence by forcing parity.
If Microsoft is serious about the next console, it will have only one console. None of this multiple console rubbish.
The only thing "wasting time" is the presence of Series S.
@TheGameThrifter I remember the Marvel fiasco. Did not know he was behind it.
Sunset Overdrive is one biggest underrated games of Xbox, along with Shadowrun (first person shooter). Of course any hope of Sunset sequel on Xbox most likely never going happen now. And Shadowrun sequel or remaster I'd go absolutely ape $%# for. Would pre-order the very second available.
@fatpunkslim I love Starfield and think it always was a good game.
They're absolutely Xbox haters out there. Just like they're Microsoft haters in tech community. Windows phone, Dial, Band, Zune, Surface just to name few that were hated but were amazing.
Microsoft has made fantastic hardware over the years. And that includes Xbox. Haters going hate.
@VisitingComet1 Yep. Souls like combat is unnecessary hard, nor is there a legit reason an easy mode not implemented.
I'd bought and probably enjoyed all souls and elden ring games. But no easy mode? Forget it.
If I want spend hours of unnecessary frustration, with very little progress for hours on end, I'd just go to work. I play video games to relax and escape all that.
@themightyant I'd have a Playstation too if the controller was not so uncomfortable and crap layout.
Keep hoping a wireless Xbox style Playstation controller would release at reasonable price. Would buy that and Playstation for sure. There are some games on Playstation love to play.
@TheGameThrifter Not disagree with any of your points. But placing all the blame on Phil is ridiculous. Phil did have a boss at Microsoft that said yea, or nay to all things. That boss allocated budgets and expenses. And that person is Nadella.
Not sure how much into the recent history of Microsoft with nadella you are? But I've been following Microsoft for decades and what is gong on under nadella's "leadership" is an incredible joke. Nadella is putting all Microsoft's eggs into waaaaaaaaay too few baskets. If any those moves tank, Microsoft in world of hurt fast. And the moves that nadella would make (hopefully he's long gone before then) would be even more disastrous. Xbox would be gone in blink of eye.
@TheGameThrifter I'm suggesting (and honestly, stating) under nadella Microsoft is terribly run. He wants zero innovation and ONLY cares about what I shared above.
Still believe nadella chased off panos panay which was massive mistake. Just wait until panos products start releasing from his move to Amazon. Really look for Amazon to be more legit in hardware space. Once remove alexa, Amazon is pretty empty in hardware world. But that's just in my opinion.
@TheGameThrifter Nadella was and still is the problem. Hands down. Full stop.
I will say this over and over. Nadella needs to resign or be forced out. Nadella only cares about cloud, forcing everything possible to be unnecessary and overpriced subscriptions, and too much AI. Nadella has ruined all innovation within Microsoft.
@GeminiX53 Thank you for that comment on the masses. I've said that for decades now. And we are correct about it.
Really pathetic how rubbish will be defended so vehemently. It's like people actively want the worst quality possible and will pay top dollar to have less.
@IOI "meaning you’ll have to tinker with the system, games, OS, and launcher to be able to play correctly, deal with driver updates, bugs, and lack of optimization from developers"
And that is EXACTLY why I quit pc gaming decades ago.
Too frustrating, too time consuming, too financially draining.
@Balaam_ "I fear for another Series X launch fiasco repeat, where yeah the hardware is great but there is literally no ‘next gen’ software at launch and you’re stuck playing last gen content"
Right there with you. But I truly believe 99.99999% of that was due to scamdemic. That's hopefully past enough development cycles for legit next gen now.
@Fiendish-Beaver Yep. I said years ago Game Pass is incredibly flawed and very unsustainable business model and will have to raise the price (still say it hits $45-$50 by end of 2028) if still want it to exist.
I was correct. People laughed at me. I was correct. People made fun of me. I was correct.
@Gemini53 OK that's good to hear. Whole server thing bothered me. Last time bought the game was the collector set for undertaker (think that was Xbox 360? ) and ric flair edition (think Xbox One?).
Still have both sets. Not touched either in years.
No Mercy to this day still my favorite wrestling game of all time back on N64.
@NeoRatt I get where you're coming from. But not want see that happen as greed will start having consoles getting graphics card upgrades and other upgrade crap.
I want buy a console. It plays all the games from that gen. Next gen. New console to play games. Repeat.
That price is going drive it as niche product. And if rumor true third parties be able make less powered systems is MASSIVE turnoff to me. It's just carrying over all the issues and problems of Series S scenarios to next gen. That is another pattern of Microsoft loving to continue with unnecessary self inflicted wounds.
Just make one console. One console to rule then all. Like really. No joke. Stop making it so complicated.

Be even easier if have just one console. None the multiple underpowered console rubbish like Series S. Just one console and be done.
Re: 'I'd Be Happy To Collaborate' - True Crime: NYC Modder 'Open' To Working On Xbox & PC Re-Release
True Crime Streets of LA was such fun game back then. Be awesome if brought the series back.

@GeminiX53 The fact that Walmart by me has decent size vinyl area speaks a lot to me.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Think Project Helix Will Support Physical Xbox Games?
It better have internal disc drive.
No disc? No purchase. Easy decision for me.

No disc drive. No buy. Will stress that forever.

Wait? It doesn't look as good on Series S? Say it isn't so?
Now imagine if all the resources and time from Series S could been spent on Series X instead.

I'll leave it at that.

@datamonkey I enjoyed the Kinect for what it was. It was kinda cool being able call my gamer friends on it.
If that thing would released around covid, really think there been insane demand for Xbox One.

Re: No Crimson Desert Xbox Reviews Until Launch, But Here's How The PC Version Is Faring
I'm getting CD Projket Red vibes here.
Meaning, engrossing story, with rigid controls, cumbersome UI/inventory/quest management system, probably small font to read.
And major, feels and plays like PC first game, that feels like a force console port.
Re: Former Xbox Leader Don Mattrick Lands Major New Role As CEO Of Photonic
Mattrick is reason Xbox is in position it's in today. All the good will and momentum just ruined in one E3 show.
Re: Xbox Series X|S Is Getting Its First Dashboard Update In Ages, Quick Resume Upgrade Included

YES! YES! YES!
This started about 2 weeks ago for me.
Re: Xbox Series X|S Is Getting Its First Dashboard Update In Ages, Quick Resume Upgrade Included
"With this update, you can disable Quick Resume on a per-game basis to ensure those games always launch fresh."
That is HUGE! I can not express how huge that is!
Re: Xbox Fan Shows Off Their Collection Of 'Almost' Every OXM Demo Disc

Loved reading that every month. Was a ritual for me.
Re: Playground Games Says Ditching Xbox One Will Help Forza Horizon 6's Post-Launch Plans
Better yet?
Ditch the whole stupid 2 tier console idea. Series S held Series X back all gen and Series S was nothing but trouble and issues.
No parity rubbish. One console and only one console to rule them all!
Re: Starfield Gets Major Free Update & New Expansion Next Month, Alongside PS5 Release
I enjoyed what played of starfield. Was very disappointed by all the hate it got.
Seemed like was trendy hipster thing to hate on starfield when released.

All that came to forefront with his, "it just works" fiasco.
Re: Bethesda Says Starfield Looks 'Amazing' With Nvidia's DLSS 5, But Don't Expect It On Xbox
But the next Xbox supposedly biggest leap in Xbox technology ever? Didn't they say it's minimum 5x technological leap?

Riiiiiiiight,nadella. Riiiiiiiight.
You resigning anytime soon then?
Re: Talking Point: Are You Happy With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate In 2026?
Game pass ultimate just too expensive and not worth the price. They kept raising price and kept offering more rubbish. I got tired of it.
Went to Essential and never looked back. Much happier now.

@fatpunkslim Not disagree with your thought process on how things are moving. I'm not big fan of it at all. But not disagree.
But the moment they start selling graphics card anf rubbish like that. I'm out. Very out. Hard stop. Huge no.
The very reason I'm a console gamer is absolutely refuse to deal with any that upgrade garbage.
Re: Talking Point: Will 'Project Helix' Be A Niche Device, Or An Xbox Console For The Masses?
I really think it will be popular console.
But....
That price is going drive it as niche product. And if rumor true third parties be able make less powered systems is MASSIVE turnoff to me. Big turnoff to buying this series is the servers sitting siren so quickly.
Is that just for online multiplayer? And you can still enjoy the game offline?
Re: Next Xbox Console: Everything We Know So Far About Microsoft's Next-Gen System
I'm ok with this console.
But the moment I hear you "can add hardware, graphics cards, memorize, sound cards", I'm IMMEDIATELY out. Will stress again, IMMEDIATELY out.
It is the very reason I quit pc gaming 30 years ago. Never looked back. Never been happier. Console all the way, the only way.
