Xbox Dev Turn 10 Goes Dark As Questions Remain Over The Future Of Forza Motorsport

Just over a month ago now, Microsoft's sweeping layoffs affected Xbox studios around the globe, including Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10. According to reports, Xbox's premiere racing studio was hit particularly hard by job cuts — seemingly losing around 50% of staff — and the team's lack of communication since is starting to ring some alarm bells.

As spotted by Xbox aficionado Klobrille, the Forza Motorsport social channels have been dead since July 10th; a week or so after those mass Microsoft layoffs. Prior to early July, Turn 10 was updating these channels regularly, with posts cropping up every few days about the game in general and what updates were incoming.

Now, it's worth noting that over on PC platform Steam, the Forza Motorsport game page has been getting updates - with the latest landing on July 31st. However, these posts seem to be automated in some fashion; they're mostly very small updates that simply share what the game's weekly featured series is. Forza Motorsport's last patch — Update 21 — landed back in June, and we haven't seen anything major since.

Of course, it's only been a few weeks since our last update from the team, so we'll have to wait and see if anything gets shared in the coming weeks. Things aren't looking great for the future of Turn 10 and Forza Motorsport right now though - in fact, one former dev recently claimed that the FM side of things is winding down now, with Turn 10 apparently becoming a support team for Forza Horizon in the future. That hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft, but it looks like things are changing over there at Xbox's racing HQ.
