Despite some positive news for the company's most recent financial quarter — including content & services growth and record Game Pass revenues — the outlook isn't so hot for next quarter. As part of this update on how Microsoft and Xbox are doing financially, the team has predicted a revenue decline for Q1 of its next fiscal year.
Xbox CFO Amy Hood has delivered these expectations, which include drops for overall gaming revenue at Microsoft, along with Xbox content and services revenue drops for Q1 of Fiscal Year 2026. The Verge's Tom Warren has provided a handy breakdown of these figures (with a correction that they relate to FY26):
While these drops may look disappointing, this only relates to the first quarter of Microsoft's next financial year, and there's every chance that things will start moving in the right direction by the end of the company's next fiscal period. It's been a tumultuous year for the economy at large, and with Xbox hardware continuing to drop, it's perhaps no surprise that we may well see a "mid to high single digits" decline for overall Microsoft Gaming revenue.
Despite all of this, as we said at the top, it's been a fairly successful last quarter for Microsoft and Xbox. That Game Pass figure is particularly nice to see - and you can check out our Pure Xbox coverage on these last quarter results down below.
