The Battlefield 6 open beta kicks off later this week for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but some lucky fans are being treated to an "early access" period before then - meaning we can get a first look at how the Xbox versions compare.
This comes courtesy of the excellent Fuzion Xbox Testing on YouTube, which has posted a brief glimpse at both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of BF6 - with some pretty interesting results coming out of these two videos.
Firstly, Battlefield 6 for Xbox Series X appears to run at up to 4K in the "Balanced" mode and 1440p in the "Performance" mode, but the analysis points out that DRS (Dynamic Resolution Scaling) is probably being used to adjust this along the way. The game clearly looks great on Xbox Series X in any case, and the Balanced Mode seems to stick to a locked 60FPS while the Performance mode appears to hit 120FPS quite easily at times, although Fuzion Xbox Testing says this mode has a lot of screen tearing that can affect FPS tests (it's likely intended for use with VRR-supported displays).
On Xbox Series S, Battlefield 6 still looks impressive despite the resolution and texture quality being evidently reduced, while the FPS seems to stick to a mostly locked 60FPS during actual gameplay. The analysis estimates the resolution is 1080p (again with DRS in play), and there's no separate performance mode for the Series S.
We'll surely get more specifics on all of this when the likes of Digital Foundry get their hands on Battlefield 6, but at first glance, the game seems to look and perform really well across both consoles - and it's still just in a "beta" phase!
And by the way, if you're wondering how to get early access, there's no particularly convenient route. You should have had a code if you were part of the Battlefield Labs pre-launch testing, and EA Play Pro members have received access as well (but that service is only on PC), while the rest of the codes are seemingly being limited to things like "Twitch Drops". Alternatively, you could just wait until the weekend when everyone will be able to join in!
In the meantime, we'll let you take a look at both of the videos below to see what's in store, and let us know if you've had a chance to play Battlefield 6 already - are you enjoying it, and how are the visuals / what's the performance like for you?
