Re: Elden Ring Gets A New Update On Xbox, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

DaverDaver

@MasterkillerX

I played a bit this morning, I could also notice a slightly smoother performance, I was only really in one area though - I'll try a misty and rainy area later, that's where I would see the VRR struggle to keep things smooth. I think there's an almost imperceptible change to the lighting as well, or something along those lines. It looks slighter cleaner and better to my eyes, although I could be imagining it - I was doing an area that was previously inaccessible. The Hoarfrost Stomp is definitely nerfed. It felt like I was cheating! The mimic summon is still good, but I only just got it so have never really seen it's power prior.

Re: Hitman Trilogy Releases Next Week, Launching With Xbox Game Pass

@PhileasFragg

They already are remastered - 1 and 2 run in the 3 engine here. It was one of the most impressive things a game dev did last gen. Let me explain: When 3 came out, as long as you owned one or both of the prior 2, you could add them as fully playable within the 3rd game engine. All the latest graphical improvements were retroactively added to the orginal games, so you could play through the whole lot in 4k* 60fps with all the bells a whistles. (*probably VRS or 1800p). Now you get that all gathered together in one place. For my money, collectively these games together are one of the greatest gaming releases in modern times.

Re: Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Is Free-To-Play This Weekend For Ubisoft's 35th Anniversary

DaverDaver

I bought it for 12 quid, a couple months after launch, still play it now. It's brainless but I keep coming back for a mindless run about and shooty shooty. Hopefully the upgrade for Series consoles is fancy enough. I get why it is hated but it's worth a look. The premise was so good and the survival element suited the setting. It probably should never have been a Ghost recon game, I wonder if they'd named it something else entirely - would it have gotten an easier ride?

Re: Xbox 4K Dashboard: How To Enable The New Feature On Series X

DaverDaver

I can see a big difference and am really pleased with this update. The artwork of the game app tiles now pops. Folk that say "who cares I just play the games blah blah why would you need this" can bore off. I am one of the ones that like it, if you'd rather it was in SD turn your xbox to output SD, and shut the ***** up! 😃 Some folk like using the full capability of their expensive hardware and screens and appreciate the choice. Now fingers crossed they do HDR for the folks who would like it to do that too!

Re: The Witcher 3 Has Been Rated In Europe For Xbox Series X, Series S

DaverDaver

I own the original game and then the DLC in the order it was released, however I've yet to play Blood and Wine. Played the rest of it through on xbox one x, framerate mode. Really looking forward to playing B&W with all the enhancements! Hope ray tracing isn't locked to 30fps mode, the 60fps makes the combat bearable.

@DrJamesOxford you said:

"...gamers that support these intellectual properties are tired of seeing."

This just about made me spit out my tea.. apologies if you're about 12 years old @DrJamesOxford and I mean no disrespect, but otherwise..

Saying you "support intellectual properties" rather than "buying games" is absolutely hilarious and peak internet. Astonishing self-entitled bollocks. These developers wouldn't care if you lived or died right now on the spot.

Re: It's Time, The Free Back 4 Blood Open Beta Has Begun On Xbox

@UltimateOtaku91

Yeah there's a PVP mode, it's like Versus Survival in L4D. Separate bespoke maps. It is kinda fun but not as good as old Campaign Versus. Here's hoping they can find a way to implement that. I managed to get on long enough to play some campaign too, overall I really liked what I played so far, and will be trying to get on as mich as I can over the weekend!

Re: These Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (August 9-13)

Dirt Rally 2.0 is an essential game if you've not played it. Difficult but really rewarding. Personally loved Grid as well. It's certainly a bit bare bones but the actual racing feels amazing. Especially the open wheel races, they're so much fun. Both games still hold up graphically too, super smooth.

Re: Poll: How Many Xbox Controllers Do You Own?

DaverDaver

I've got one Series X, 1 camo Xbox one, 1 regular xbox one that came with the one X and has drift, and a wired PowerA with back paddles, which is actually an excellent controller. Never actually tried it with my SX, sure it works fine though.

Re: Call Of Duty: Warzone Analysis Highlights The Benefits Of VRR For Xbox Series X

DaverDaver

VRR is a brilliant thing. It's supposed to work in such a way that you don't even notice it exists. I recently got a monitor with VRR, and I was playing Fallout 4 with the 60fps mod. There was a room with heavy smoke and particles, and I could see a slight sort of judder, but so slight you'd barely notice. I realised it might be a sign of VRR really doing its magic. Sure enough, I switched off VRR and went back to my save - the framerate tanked, it was shuddering and tearing really badly. It probably dipped to about 35-40fps, maybe even less. VRR goes back on and it's totally smooth again. Such a brilliant feature.
