Xbox Rewards Is Buffing Its Points In Some Cases, And Nerfing Them In Others

Update []:

As part of today's massive Xbox Game Pass overhaul, Microsoft has confirmed that it was indeed the intention to reward Game Pass Ultimate members more than anyone else when it comes to the buff in Rewards points.

In fact, we've got a new infographic which confirms that Xbox Game Pass Essential members will get a 1x bonus earn rate for quests, Premium members will get a 2x bonus earn rate, and Ultimate members will get a 4x bonus earn rate.

You can check out that infographic down below, along with details on some new "Shop & Earn" offers:

"Ultimate subscribers can now earn up to $100 per year (100k points globally) in the Store just by playing games. With our upgraded Rewards program, players can get up to 30% value on select Game Pass games, with 4x points on purchases of games and add-ons, 10% back in points on select Game Pass library titles and add-ons, and up to 20% off select Game Pass games."

"Premium also brings new value through Rewards with Xbox. Premium subscribers can also get up to $50 per year (50k points globally) in the Store just by playing games, earning 2x points on purchases of games and add-ons, plus 5% back in points on select Game Pass library titles and add-ons."

"Essential members can earn up to $25 per year (25k points globally) in the Store just by playing. You’ll also get points on purchases of games and add-ons."

Xbox Rewards Is Buffing Its Points In Some Cases, And Nerfing Them In Others 2

Original Story: A new month has kicked off for Microsoft and Xbox Rewards, and alongside the news that Xbox Game Pass redemptions are apparently being taken away from the service soon, people are noticing that the points have been buffed for the Xbox Rewards service specifically!

This seems to apply to various regions including the UK and US, with lots more potential points that you can earn. For example, the image above shows the 350 points that were originally advertised for the Monthly 8-Pack task with Xbox Rewards, but that's now risen to 560 points in some countries - as documented down below:

This is amazing news then, right? Well, it's definitely great to see if you're eligible for the point buffs, although some users are reporting that they're either getting no change or actually seeing nerfs to what was previously available.

It seems Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users are benefiting most from the buffs, whereas non-Game Pass members and Xbox Rewards users in some countries are getting more negative results from this latest round of adjustments:

Here at Pure Xbox, we're seeing the following improvements to Microsoft / Xbox Rewards when logged into an account with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership:

Type Old Points New Points
Play a PC Game 10 20
Play Jewel in the Xbox App for Mobile 5 10
Play a Game on Console 10 20
Weekly PC Bonus 150 150
Use the Xbox App for Mobile 5-10-15-20-25 8-16-24-32-50
Weekly Console Bonus 175 175
Play a Game Pass Game 10 20
Game Pass Weekly Streaks 40-20-40 40-20-40
Game Pass Monthly 4-Pack 50 80
Game Pass Monthly 8-Pack 350 560

So, there you go! Xbox Rewards is definitely improving its potential earnings if you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, but it sounds like everyone else is seeing either minor improvements or actually some potential decreases.

Before we let you go, don't forget that Microsoft Rewards is apparently giving us a Gift Card Sale this month that's set to include Xbox Gift Cards, so as soon as we have more information on that, we'll let you know all the details.
