Stalker 2 Is Getting An Engine Overhaul This Year On Xbox Game Pass

Oh cool its good to see a dev team prepared to put in the work to give their players the best experience possible.

I just started a new modded play through on the hardest difficulty. The mods i have installed are for things like a longer day night cycle, more blood and just basically anything that adds to immersion without affecting the gameplay (so no infinite inventory for me.)

The game is just as intense and fun as I remember from my previous run.

I tried so hard to love this game (played over 30hrs on the XBOX X) but it's just like a toxic relationship: you try to justify their actions and mistakes, but in the end you just get frustrated and end up regretting the time you spent together.

Maybe I'll come back to it in a few years when they release the GOTY ultimate and revised edition. Maybe.

Kudos to the team and much respect given the issues going on in Ukraine. Loved what little I played. Unfortunately the mutants were just too OP for myself n probably the majority of mortals starting the game. Hopefully the proposed balancing addresses this.

It’s getting an engine overhaul “in Xbox game pass”—does that mean if someone bought the game outright that we won’t qualify for the updated version? It’s only available through Gamepass?

This game was a mess. I finished it and put >50 hours in.

The thing that killed it for me (beyond the total jank gameplay and bugs) was the game structure. I was hoping for more of an open RPG type game (like Fallout), but we got a linear narrative type game (like Cyberpunk).

I'm not too into this genre at all and haven't played the game to speak on it, but I truly hope that this team builds Stalker 2 out into the best game they can and they get the recognition for it. Few they could say they've accomplished half as much in such a predicament as they've gone through.

So i should just wait until like december to download it and play with the mods?

This game, to me, was a disappointment. I loved the original game all these years ago, so naturally I looked forward to the sequel, like I just couldn’t get into it, every NPC was out to kill me on sight. Literally a waste of time

Sounds good, I dropped it playing on the S since performance and optimization and in part gameplay just wasnt good enough but Id like to give the game another chance in the future.

I got about 28 hours in, and that was within a week of launch... But I got stuck in the dumbest glitch. I am stuck on this mission where after I make it through this crazy batch of enemies and into this base looking place, the guy who I need to talk to continue the mission just doesnt spawn. I have tried everything, including going back to an old save that was like a hour plus before this and I have gotten to the same place only for the guy to never spawn it is so damn annoying. I am really hoping this engine overhaul actually helps me get passed this *****.

@RiverGenie Can you mod on Xbox version? I thought that was only on the PC

@Hawklord22 Mods are available on Xbox. It's nothing too complex at the moment with just simple stuff like changing day night cycles, adjustment to gun ballistics and stuff like that.

Everything has to go through a testing process before it's allowed on Xbox which I expect slows mod releases down. Still I hope we see more substantial mods in the future.

@Balaam_ yeah some of their headlines make things sound exclusive to game pass, or to Xbox, when they’re not. I get that this is a console specific website but it’s still kind of jarring.

@Balaam_ they tack on ‘Xbox Game Pass’ to the headline of every article possible. It’s search engine optimisation. It does sometimes make the headlines read a bit strangely though, as in this case.
