Talking Point: As Bethesda Teases Starfield DLC, What Do You Want From The Xbox RPG In Year 3?

I don't care enough about Starfield to be bothered anymore. I will look at any future dlc but its hard to be excited for the ip at this stage.

I want a dlc that expands on the base building and resource farming. That was so close to being an awesome feature. They could even have a story dlc around building your galactic mining empire.

I liked building the bases and connecting them but didn't feel there was enough reason to go through the trouble of doing it. I only really dug into it on the first playthrough and mostly ignored it on all my new game+ runs.

Hopefully the next DLC will not be lacklustre like the previous DLC.

However, what I most expect is an announcement of a Complete Edition to be ported to the PlayStation at the beginning of next year. I think if Shattered Space had been better received, that port would have happened this year, but on the back of such poor reviews, I think Microsoft thought porting it earlier was too bigger risk.

Microsoft will want this next DLC to be so good that the PlayStation crowd will want it too, so here's hoping that Bethesda get it right because porting what was supposed to be a flagship title for Xbox the and having it flop will just hurt Xbox...

I don't know. I am one of the people who loved Starfield, and I want more. I'd love a huge expansion to the pois

I do feel like it harmed itself trying to appeal more "mainstream" with things like getting rid of fuel. Visiting "empty" planets makes more sense when it's where the fuel is.

I'd love it if they made it so each system was a flyable space instead of just the orbits.

What do I want from year three...
I want Bethesda to stop new development outside of critical bugfixes, and move team over to a hopefully better next game.

I'll probably never go back to this game definitely the game is one of the biggest let downs in recent memory for me!
Hopefully it can find a following on playstation when it launches!
Just a shame I think the years kinda wasted on this game when we could of had another elder scrolls or fallout 🥺

I would like to see more settlements and animals. There are a few of the former, but places like Titan could be much more interesting and forget about realism with the latter.

But yes, perhaps a sequel is where the devs need to focus more effort on to build upon the foundation of the original.

I'd like to see a price drop! I played about 90 hours through GPU but I'm not subbed at the mo. The best it comes on offer for digitally is 42 quid, and I want that sweet sweet play anywhere, £30 would be nice for base game!

I think they would be best moving on to another project and putting all their resources into that instead. The game did alright but was not the flagship it was expected to be. I would honestly say their is also probably not much point in porting it to PS5 at this point as I don't think it will do much more than it already has.

Honestly they would be better just focussing on ES6 and making that the best it can be.

absolutely zero interest. I played it and left it on the new game plus to do some DLC and now that I'm here why would I go back? I remember I played the Cyberpunk DLC immediately after Starfield and it was just like ah... that's how it's supposed to be done. It was an absolute masterclass and Bethesda need to take notes.

@Lrapsody It's hard to articulate what exactly I love about it beyond the usual Bethesda stuff. Like I can recognise its flaws, boy, does it have flaws. (If you're gonna have 1000 random planets, build more Points of Interest to stick on them)

There are three parts that I think helped me love it

1. I went heavy on the roleplay. I had a very clear Idea of what sort of character I wanted and tailored the game to that. So I gave myself the parents and house traits, so money was short. I made sure things like the perks and skills allowed my character to try and negotiate without making it always pass (I think that's a problem a bunch of RPGers have, making themselves Solo/Mal types they max out speech skills, when these guys often "fail their checks") or giving me more money. I also made a point of eating and drinking

2. It really let me explore. None of that Outer Worlds "look at these planets, you can go to half of them" or Mass Effect "you can go to them but not visit". It excites the same part of my brain that made me take notes for Oblivion and Morrowind when I was young.

3. NASA punk. Most space games are all sleek spaceships, nice interiors and tight space suits where you "are" the ship when you fly it. Here you can leave the helm and wander around your ship whilst it's moving (do wish they did more with that, like let someone take the helm whilst you go fix something)

Like so many others, I want to see Bethesda drop all support for this weak game and concentrate on the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

Low-hanging fruit:

• Better organization of inventory
• Beefier weapon reports
• Captain's log (record visited planets & dates, outposts, minerals found)
• Flight stick support

Mid-tier requests:

• Gore system
• New damage decals & events appropriate for the weapon/ammunition
• Shatter visors on headshots/criticals
• Gore
• More animations
• Gore
• New ship components (reposition doors, stairs, brigs)
• New creatures, enemies, factions

Longshots

• VR support for piloting ships
• Rework locations to be more varied and unique
• Supercruise speed for ship travel
• Space hazards (black holes, small, fast-moving debris, radiation)
• Hull breaches
• EVA
• Enemy boarding attempts (get captured?)
• Jailbreaks on ship
• Build space stations
• More danger
• Revamped faces (gussy up some of those NPCs)
• Attempt to remove some loading screens..?

The best thing about the game is the ship building, so maybe do something with that? Make it a central focus of the game, add interesting things to do with your ship, improved combat encounters with better balance and scaling and add Qol features for shipbuilding to make it easier, more intuitive and entire inventories are available at any dock once you’ve encountered those items.

On top of that a 2.0 update that overhauls the gaming systems and world design would be great. Addition of lots of handcrafted events through the galaxy. New and interesting Npcs and why not some alien menace with interesting and impenetrable motives and culture as an end game story.

I really enjoyed the game and look forward to the game mechanic updates and the DLC. I don't play the game as much anymore, but I would love an opportunity to dive back in for some new content.

I don’t want anything. I played it year 1 for 150, finished it, and I’m done. It’s a single player offline game. I don’t want it to be Minecraft or Fortnite.

Don't understand developers, that just don't know when to quit milking their mediocre games.

I want them to fully focus on Elder Scrolls VI instead.
At the moment, it feels like the game will never be released...

In my dreams, I'd love for the Starfield dev team to work with Sean Murray's team at HG, to make something extra specially amazing. Prob would never happen. But if it did....
