Ultimately I just want the ability to play day one games, cloud streaming was a nice extra, even EA Play was nice but with how much Ultimate is gone by, I'm struggling to justify it.
I do think the total amount of stuff they are giving is somewhere between fair and acceptable, but that sticker price.
It's like the company that makes my mini paints do this huge bundle that represents a massive saving but I can't afford to drop the 200 for it, regardless of just how good a deal iit is.
This is one of those things where I can see the supposed "value" from all the bits they stuck together but the actual number is just too high. I will likely have to treat this like Disney Plus, sign up for a month and run away.
@fatpunkslim I would be very surprised if Phil's had much input on this happening or not, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the reason Ubi is being included, "you have to give them something"
Don't get me wrong, it's insane there's another price rise, and I do think the per-month price may now be unacceptably high considering there is no equivalent to PC gamespass.
But at least this time, there's an actual increase in content for ultimate subscribers, granted it's a bunch of old Ubisoft games, but at least it's something unlike the previous times where it was "erm costs? pay us more?"
@Pichuka97 @EVIL-C I don't think firing either of them would solve anything. This seems to be coming from Papa Microsoft, they started losing the AI race and started nuking Xbox costs (consoles, studios) and maximising profit (selling games everywhere).
Spencer has been getting quieter and quieter ever since that "four games" presentation. No more random check-ins, no more spot the clue in the background interviews, he appears to hype up the next live stream and disappears from view.
If they go, the next two will be selected for "aligning with Microsoft's targets and interests" and not saving the Xbox brand.
@themightyant agreed, when my main game isnt GP, I tend to download something like CoD, some disposable, something I can do a mission a day earn the points and go play something else afterwards
I think horror games are one of the few places where I don't worry so much about short playtimes, horror is all about ratcheting up the tension and releasing it. Over an extended time, that stops working as you adapt.
@Banjo- I bought the premium upgrade when the game released. In the end Xbox said they couldn't see it on my purchase history but I could see it on mine, and by the time they accepted the combination of that, a video of me loading the DLC and my home xbox settings, and my back statement showing the payment, it was "too late".
Lesson learned, don't buy DLC for Gamepass games. Granted I never expected to have access to the DLCs after the games left GP, I saw it as tipiing the developers for games I enjoyed but now, I don't trust Xbox's book keeping.
@Ricky-Spanish It kinda annoyed me that I got the Gears Reloaded code instantly because of the Forza thing. I already have the Ultimate Edition, that's not going anywhere I don't need reloaded, but I very much needed the Forza code because I bought DLC for the gamepass version, and that's useless now unless I find a disk copy for a reasonable price.
@Ricky-Spanish I never got the Forza code either, I chased Microsoft about it and I got bounced around and told to wait until "it was no longer possible" to supply me a code.
@OldGamer999 If I was Sony on the run up to christmas I'd make a big deal about how at least "for now", we won't push prices further but how the "environment is challenging" and how in 2026 it may be revisited.
@GamingFan4Lyf Indeed, and I think that's why they are focusing so much on this ATM. They have to squash the frustrations gamers have with Windows before Steam's translation layer gets too good to ignore.
@BAMozzy Steam is reportedly readying SteamOS consoles, and supposedly PCs.
Whilst the console is the logical expansion to Steamdeck, the SteamOS PCs have to be about take advantage of the growing PC gamer frustration with Windows.
@GamingFan4Lyf I have to assume that's coming, if they want to (foolishly) compete with Steam, this has to be on "full fat" PCs. I'm guessing the "resolution" check is to stop people using it on "actual" PCs for now.
If they want to promote long term play, don't turn Farcry into an extraction shooter or whatever, bring back the map/mode maker! I loved jumping into Farcry 5 and trying the different games people have made. I have fond memories of playing that GoldenEye remake in there.
@Cakefish, I slightly prefer 5, but you are 100% correct about the voiced PC I care infinitely more for Dani than "the deputy" and that New Dawn twist would have meant more.
@Ricky-Spanish yeah. Its like these games that get delisted, why are they not put on an insane discount before they leave forever? They'd make some money from it. Heck, it'd compel me to pick it up because my brain will think it's "saving it".
@Ricky-Spanish It does seem like an obvious solution. It's not like the old CoD games are selling much in 2025, there's a bunch of classic CoDs I'd happily through a few coins at for their campaigns.
I know for these older games, the licence deals just didn't cover things like streaming and subscriptions, so they can't without redoing the deals (that can apply to old TV shows too, I was watching Red Dwarf on iPlayer and noticed one of the few licensed music tracks was different to my DVD.)
It recently occurred to me that the reason we don't see the older CoD titles is because of the real guns, putting it on GP no doubt violates the original deals and would need to be either renegotiated or replace them, which is a fair amount of work just to make these games "free".
@Lrapsody It's hard to articulate what exactly I love about it beyond the usual Bethesda stuff. Like I can recognise its flaws, boy, does it have flaws. (If you're gonna have 1000 random planets, build more Points of Interest to stick on them)
There are three parts that I think helped me love it
1. I went heavy on the roleplay. I had a very clear Idea of what sort of character I wanted and tailored the game to that. So I gave myself the parents and house traits, so money was short. I made sure things like the perks and skills allowed my character to try and negotiate without making it always pass (I think that's a problem a bunch of RPGers have, making themselves Solo/Mal types they max out speech skills, when these guys often "fail their checks") or giving me more money. I also made a point of eating and drinking
2. It really let me explore. None of that Outer Worlds "look at these planets, you can go to half of them" or Mass Effect "you can go to them but not visit". It excites the same part of my brain that made me take notes for Oblivion and Morrowind when I was young.
3. NASA punk. Most space games are all sleek spaceships, nice interiors and tight space suits where you "are" the ship when you fly it. Here you can leave the helm and wander around your ship whilst it's moving (do wish they did more with that, like let someone take the helm whilst you go fix something)
I don't know. I am one of the people who loved Starfield, and I want more. I'd love a huge expansion to the pois
I do feel like it harmed itself trying to appeal more "mainstream" with things like getting rid of fuel. Visiting "empty" planets makes more sense when it's where the fuel is.
I'd love it if they made it so each system was a flyable space instead of just the orbits.
Apparently, September wasn't a super big GP month for me. Granted, part of this is because I either own some of these games or they are slightly more polished versions of something I already played recently (Gears)
I really enjoyed the game but as it's one of those "missing chapter" style DLCs and not a continuation or side story I don't feel overly compelled to get it and (without reviews) it seems expensive.
I'm not really sure how adding other storefronts to your app list is "coming together" of their multi store vision.
Maybe GoG Galaxy has spoilt me. You link it to your GOG/steam/Epic/Xbox account and it creates a unified game list. Click a game and it loads and any required launcher. (Don't want to oversell it, it is junky and dose list Xbox console games which doesn't really do anything on PC)
Hmm not sure at least 8. I finished the campaign in each difficulty and at least once solo on the OG release.
I finished it at least once when Ultimate came out.
I replayed the series with my brother for Gears 4, I replayed the series with my friend for gears 5, and I replayed the series recently with my brother in law.
I know I played it more but it sure if I finished it those times

Re: Poll: What Are Your Plans For Xbox Game Pass After This Week's News?
@Banjo- So for the sake of clarity.
-Let Ultimate run out.
-Join Core
-Load up Core for (up to) 36 months' worth
-Convert to Ultimate.

@Banjo- CD keys rebanded to Loaded for some reason

Re: Four Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass In Early October 2025
@Scrubchub @Sindayl Not going to lie, the first thing that came to mind when I saw "What's leaving gamepass..." was "gamers".

Re: Fortnite Crew's $11.99 Subscription Is Heading To Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members
I wonder if this is part of our subs or a code like the perks. My daughter would use the crap out of that if its a code.

Re: Dynasty Warriors 3 Gets An Unreal Engine 5 Remaster On Xbox In March 2026
Seems weird to remake a random entry.
Re: Ampere Analysis: Xbox Users Play More Games, But For A Shorter Amount Of Time
Considering the amount of people I know have another console and then the Xbox as a "gamepass" machine it makes sense it has lower total play time.

Re: Multiple Yakuza Games Announced For Xbox At RGG Summit, Including Yakuza Kiwami 3
It's weird that they are doing these native ports of k1 and k2 alongside the DC of 0 and not doing an English dub like they did on 0 DC.
I am basing this on the fact the upcoming Switch 2 versions of k1 and k2 don't have a dub.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 20-21)
I had planned to be playing Jump Space, but apparently, there was some confusion, and it's not on Game Pass.
Xbox: Helldivers 2, CoD MWII campaign, and Mad Max.
Switch: Grand Bazaar, Silksong, Yakuza 0

Re: Call Of Duty To Receive The Movie Treatment As Paramount Inks Deal With Microsoft
There is no point getting the CoD IP to make a normal action/war film and I say this as someone who prefers the more "grounded" CoD campaign.
It should basically be the successor to Fast/Furious franchise. Try and keep some grounding but just go nuts with it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 30-31)
Helldivers on Series X, Story of Seasons on Switch 2, a little Fallout London on PC (assuming it doesn't explode... again).
Will probably jump into Mad Max and Herdling.

Games that aren't cancelled by the next show would be a refreshing change of pace.
... A new Musou - empires game would be nice too.

@SalaciousCrumb depends how long it takes to grind put those credits really.
