Re: Talking Point: Will The New '2027' Xbox Console Have Steam Support?

abe_hikura

It'd be really interesting, mostly because having PC storefronts means Microsoft is making less money from game sales and developers do not need to make a bespoke Xbox version or need it to be available on Xbox/MS storefronts and still be accessible to Xbox players. Which kinda ruins how consoles make money whilst selling the platform at a loss.

From a "the meat lump on the controller side" it should be great I can save money buying the Steam/GoG/Epic versions, have greater control on performance, as well as being able to (in theory) play Fallout London on my Xbox.

I do think it dose face the same problem as Steam Machines and it's gonna have to justify it's existence vs buying a PC.

Re: Talking Point: If The Next-Gen Xbox Is More 'PC-Like', Will You Still Buy It?

abe_hikura

Much like the Steam machines before, it would have to justify its existence vs a regular PC.

Is it cheaper than that a PC of the same spec? Because that seems unlikely as consoles are sold at lost and make money from game licensing and store sales, if it supports other storefronts why should we (customers) buy from the Xbox store if the Steam/GoG/Epic version is cheaper? why should they (developers) bother making a Xbox version when the PC version works "fine"

That being said, creating a weirdo Psudo-PC that plays BC console games and has access to PC storefronts is the best way for them to leave the console business as our console libraries would (presumably) be accessible on PC in the future

Re: Xbox Has Officially Delayed Fable Into 2026

Do they get me wrong, games should be released when they are ready, but I do think it's funny we've been talking about how Xbox seems to have gotten its pipeline sorted and now their biggest (known) game of the year isn't coming the year.

Re: Poll: Xbox Fans, What Review Score Would You Give Avowed So Far?

Enjoying it, it gets an 8 from me so far. It has (so far) addressed my complaints about exploration in Outer Worlds.

There is some weird clunk like some responses don't quite line up with the option I picked and I'm not doing well with "this unique gear have a story" and then it expects you to break them down for parts.

Re: Xbox Studio Obsidian Says 'Not Trying To Grow Aggressively' Will Keep It Going For Decades

Good to hear. Too many are concerned with growth and run into gestures at the current state of the industry

It was wild watching the companies who made a killing during the pandemic because you had the likes of Nintendo who recognised it was a weird blip, and stuff will go back to normal after and then you had the nutters like Netflix or Amazon who thought they could somehow keep that momentum going. "we did 'best ever' during the pandemic, this year we can do double 'best ever'"

Re: Remedy Talks Upcoming Projects As Alan Wake 2 Finally Makes A Profit

I liked Alan Wake 1, I liked Quantum Break, and I LOVED Control, so I hesitated on Wake 2 u till I got a good deal on it and the DLC but oh boy did I love Wake 2.

Glad it's making money now. Looking forward to FBC and Control 2. Not sure on the Max Payne remakes as I never gelled with the originals beyond playing around with the bullet time.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta Release Date Leaks As Konami Plans August Launch On Xbox

abe_hikura

I'm still not sold on this. I love MGS3, and kinda prefer the Big Boss Era to Solid Snake but I was hoping that as a remake they'd address the flaws of the original game (for example guards magically forget you exist if you leave the section.) that was due to the limitations of the hardware and removing things like the segmented map would allow for the game's greatness to shine for a new generation. This feels like a weird half-step.
