Major Retailer Seemingly Clearing Out Xbox Series Stock In Certain Regions Right Now

We're seeing several reports online right now about a major retailer clearing out Xbox Series X|S stock in multiple regions - including a full report on how the retail giant may be getting rid of its Xbox section altogether. We thought we'd take a look at all of this and see what's what, especially amidst plans from Microsoft to increase its console prices in the coming weeks.

First off, let's look at that report, shall we? Following recent reports of the retailer's website removing Xbox products, GamesIndustry.biz has done a little more digging - more specifically, some in-person digging at Costco UK. The site visited a store here in the UK today to find no Xbox products available, with PlayStation and Nintendo items present in the store. The outlet then called another store to ask about buying an Xbox Series X; to which the store responded "we don't actually have the Xbox anymore."

"Using Wayback Machine, we found that on June 11, 2025, Costco's UK website listed the Xbox Series X for sale under its consoles section (as a members-only item). However, on August 6, 2025, it was no longer listed."

So, it's looking like — for now at least — the retail giant is pulling back its Xbox stock in the US and UK, going off online and limited in-person evidence. Interestingly, the above report does mention that UK retailer Currys is still stocking these products, but what about other regions of the world right now?

While we're not seeing as much clear evidence of the complete removal of Xbox products elsewhere, the last couple days have brought in some interesting reports about Series X and S stock. In New Zealand, Costco once again has been spotted selling Series X consoles at a whopping 50% off, suggesting those Xbox shelves are also being cleared in that part of the world as well.

Now, while this does make the Xbox Series X|S situation look a little bleak at the moment, we want to stress that this is limited evidence of stock changes in certain regions at just one retailer - and it may even be a temporary situation, especially in the sort of economy we're all living in right now. We've seen this sort of thing crop up online in the past, for stores to then re-stock Xbox products down the line.

Either way, we're seeing all of this gain significant traction online at the minute, so we thought it worth covering and gathering your thoughts on the situation. We'll be keeping tabs on things over the next months to see how the stock situation evolves, especially with the ROG Xbox Ally entering the market next month.
