A new report is being shared by The Verge today (paywalled) that claims Microsoft is making another Xbox-related price increase; this time for its Series X|S console dev kits.
This isn't looking like a small bump in price either, according to the report. The Verge says we're looking at a 33% cost jump for these Xbox dev kits ($1500 to $2000 in the US), and the reasoning behind it is supposedly due to "macroeconomic developments" in the market.
The report also contains a small internal message that was apparently sent from Xbox to its developer community, saying "we remain committed to providing high-quality tools and support for your development efforts".
This latest price change may not affect the public directly, but it comes after multiple console hikes that have affected customers in certain regions - one back in May 2025 and one just last month. Of course, Microsoft also effectively increased the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate this month as well, despite several new benefits being added to the service.
For now, this dev kit price change is only reported information and should of course be taken as such, even if the source is largely a reliable one. We'll update you if we hear anything from Microsoft on these latest dev kit cost changes.
