Had a go at this today and it's decent fun, but if this is all there is to the game I can see it getting old pretty quickly. Hopefully more game modes will come with this? Is there any confirmation around that?
Otherwise I'd play th occasional game if it was part of something like gamepass, but if this is all I Wouldn't buy. Nice to see this kind of stuff though
@UltimateOtaku91 sorry been off for a while, thanks for the opinion sounds good, the reference to RF is a good one. I think I'll give it a try soon! Thabks
Not surprised about the netflix stuff cause they own this IP and studio so that's that. A bit funnier is the Xbox being missing point. Could be some stuff about cloud provider competition like you guys say, netflix seems to have some interest in games. Oxenfree was an interesting title, shame I won't play 2 on Xbox, but hardly a huge miss. I did enjoy the first one, but that's it.
I guess this gives MS more justification for their acquisition strategy if more and more studios keep leaving the platform out but releasing on almost everything else. We'll see over time I guess. Would really like MS to iron out whatever is happening with SE for example, if at all possible
This is personal opinion, but for me this is fine. I don't personally understand the obsession with FPS rates or resolution, but I guess I started this long journey in gaming with an Atari 2600 and ain't so bothered about this sort of stuff. If the game's fun, it's going to be regardless of 30 fps
I got a PS4 and switch, so personally this sort of stuff doesn't affect me too much. That said, to me it doesn't make a lot of sense to think that there isn't something else other than just finances happening here.
I'm throwing this as a bit of an open question in case anybody has a real sense of it. To me the SE question of releasing in Xbox is not if the game will have comparable sales to the other platforms. To me is more like will the cost of adapting to Xbox break even and get some profit from:
-sales over the world and, in particular, the almost half a million Xbox series consoles in JPN (even if a decent amount of these are secondary systems
-a gamepass deal. It feels Microsoft would be quite open to a reasonably decent deal to put on GP many of these games even if just as part of trying to attarct more customers in Japan or worldwide with Japanese game fans. Xbox is selling in Japan more consoles than it has in years, so not crazy to think they still might get a decent user base if they got more and more Japanese games there
Now the caveat here is that cost of adaptation, I'm assuming this is relatively low for games that are already there in possibly Switch and/or PS and PC. Here is where if anybody knows I'd love to hear, cause perhaps I'm assuming this to be lower that it actually is. Anyway, this would be my way of approaching te Xbox question as SE. I understand prioritising the other platforms, but I find difficult to think they wouldn't make some extra money based on the above premise.
Just completed guardiana of the galaxy and is pretty cool, give it a try guys if you haven't. Undertale is also pretty awesome imo and Tunic is decent as a classic Zelda substitute. All relatively short
I don't really care that much if the deal goes ahead or not. It'd be interesting to know how they interviewed "rivals". I mean...if you pretty much throw open question to these, with no need for any sort of business case that supports your stance then no surprise they actually say "this is bad for industry". If they are actually rivals, then clearly they are biased. Agree with other people's position that you'd think these government organisations would be equipped to come up with their own fully independent view. I'm guessing when you know the full story these interviews and surveys make sense, but without knowing more it sounds really dodgy.
I think this is more or less a given and it is fine, companies can decide whether they publish or not on gamepass based on the offer they got on the table.
It's good that GP gives them a chance to de-risk in the sense they will ensure making X money (based on whatever they've agreed with MS), but they might loose money in the long run if the game was to perform well in sales. This is just a business decision around risk and it's really mainly applicable on day one release I feel.
The other side, once a game has been on the market for a while, you'd expect that the bulk of the sales have been fulfilled by then and GP is a good way of ensuring additional income. For me, there are games that I wouldn't have played if it wasn't because of GP and of the back of that I bought dlcs. Recent examples for me are Scarlet Nexus and Vampire Survivors, wasn't gonna buy them but played them in GP, likes them and bought some dlc stuff, so that is extra income for them. Plus, there's the indirect benefit of now these are on my radar, so I would consider getting Scarlet Nexus 2, not perhaps on day one, but discounted.
Overall I feel GP gives just another option for companies to de-risk or get extra money and publicity to their games. Up to them to decide what makes sense or not. Markets are transitioning to different business models and companies need to account for that, unfortunately or not things like GP now exist and need to be taken into account on sales plan regardless of whether you're considering launching or not in GP.
Kinda not sure why sometimes, but still hooked with vampire survivors. I NEED TO UNLOCK ALL THOSE LITTLE TASKS. Then I'm with guardians of the galaxy, which is a lot better than I thought
I started monster hunter rise yesterday, new to the whole series, a bit overloaded with info, but kinda like the atmosphere. Completed beacon pines yesterday interesting vibe, heartwarming and disturbing at the same time
@Jenkinss it's a really unique and interesting game, I kinda enjoyed it and hated it equally. I think I should have gone play it with a different mindset. As in not expecting a "real game"
Played gears 1 recently, looking and playing very well after all these years. Looking forward to the other installments, but best to focus on new games than remasters.
Well, probably will end up coming through with concessions. If not then it's time to repurpose that money, surely they have a plan B. I think Xbox should strengthen their Japanese arm, definitely an area where it's a lot weaker than others. Also, perhaps it shouldn't be about buying other studios and IP so much, perhaps paying for key IPs and launches is better and investing in hiring good people and developing new IP etc.
Have a good one guys, wishing you all the best of gaming holidays got Elder Ring and the Xbox headset, so gonna make the most out of those in coming days
It's no surprise Sony is doing this, is a bit dirty perhaps and bla bla bla, but that's the corporate world. I do actually think Microsoft are a lot more open with how you can play games on their ecosystem than any other equivalent company out there. I think as a consumer you can play Xbox games in many different ways, even been playing some Octopath Traveler on my phone occasionally with xcloud and runs surprisingly good.
As far as consumers access to games go, I do truly think that if you wanted to play an Xbox "exclusive" you definitely could, many options put there (e.g series S dirt cheap in black Friday etc.) Monopoly wise, well... perhaps an argument to be had here but still MS doesn't force you to buy a Xbox to play it as said, yeah they'll see some part of the profit in various ways but I truly don't think is such a big deal. Could very well be wrong, but ultimately I don't care if the the deal doesn't come through we'll still be able to play AB games anyway; this is something worth remembering...
I'm excited about Eastward, gonna give that a try. Also the Lego one, I mean they're always sort of the same but always find them good fun. Brilliant batch this one in my opinion!
I've actually completed golf story, it is a nice game, pretty fun and full of decent jokes. If this one is as good it'll be definitely worth giving it a try.
I don't know, Witcher 2 I enjoyed a lot more than Witcher 3. Don't get me wrong, I feel the game wasn't that incredibly good for me. I still feel the combat was boring even in max difficulty. It's a good game no doubts and I enjoyed, but a step back for me. Kinda want to like cyberpunk but not sure when to jump in with it.
I've only had mine for a couple of months, and when I read about quick resume I though a bit "what's the big deal about it?". I find myself really linking it, I boot up my console and I'm playing in literally seconds. I didn't think much of it, but I do actually love it.
To be honest SE is pretty weird when it comes to releasing stuff in my opinion. I still do believe FFVII remake will eventually come to xbox, mainly cause they are releasing CC-Reunion on it, it would feel weird to have the prequel chapter and that is it. How long will it take, is a different matter, I wouldn't be surprised if it was in, e.g. 10 years time on a FFVIII remake bundle with all games type of thing.
You never know with SE tough, I still find it funny that Xbox got Octopath Traveler (but not PS, it was on Stadia! FFS), and now Octopath traveler II is planned for Switch, PC and PS but not Xbox. I certainly find their logic quite interesting. I guess, bottom line is, with them you never know...we are talking about the people who fragmented KH in a 1000 different platforms, so who knows.
Gonna go for Octopath Traveler. Might spend some time with side stuff on scarlet nexus and halo 1 campaign. There so much I wanna play a struggle to choose sometime, it's a bit stupid really
Just completed Kentucky Route Zero, mixed feelings about it to be honest. Need to think of what to play now, might give Scorn a try or Beacon pines, not sure Octopath Traveler is also there...
There's a bunch of decent Star Ocean games, but I haven quite enjoyed it that much since "til te end of time". I've got mixed feelings, kinda happy the franchise is back, but at the same time it doesn't feel like they've put the effort that, for me, SO deserved. I guess it's a secondary series. Might give it a try but not so sure based on the reviews. Will be interesting to see what you guys think and share here at some point.
Hardly surprising, this is going to happen and to a point we need to start accepting it. The key for me it's what it'll mean for the quality of services. Let's hope they don't get carried away, it'd be good if Sony started to make MS worry a bit more on for example the subscription front, never a good thing when corps start to have a too dominant position. We'll see what happens I guess.
To be honest I ended up going for a series X, but the price of the Series S is probably one of the things that made me look more into what MS was proposing for this generation. A good console at a very good price I think it's good to drop entry barriers like this
@PapaGlitch haha well...that's a good point. I'm probably on the same boat as you here having a ps4 (ps5 at some point hopefully), pc, switch, Series X and older consoles too. I guess for people who feel they can't or won't spend more money on more platforms, the discussion could be a bit different from their perspective. Although, I feel the entry barrier is lower than ever, at least for people willing to make certain "performance" sacrifices.
I've had all PlayStation from 1 to 4, quite honestly I don't think this should be such a big thing. As a guy living in the UK I've shared my opinion with the competition organisation looking into this, one of the points I've made was this. Myself, having paid psplus (and read about premium etc ) for years, I now see gamepass and there's a world of difference between both. I think Sony should actually take this onboard and improve their offering (in general, not necessarily only the subscription, although this seems to be a thing nowadays) rather than focus so much on blocking gamepass. I mean I had a 360 too, pc Switch etc, I'm not in the console wars team for any side, but the fact that I moved from PS to Xbox after 20+ years as my main going platform says a lot in favour of MS in this gen. This is my view of course.
I agree with the above, probably ain't gonna happen because of the rebots. Bit of a shame really cuse the feeling of the original TR was quite different from the new. I wouldn't mind a new IP taking on the same style, but who know it might actually happen. Remakes are a thing nowadays.
I finished the forgotten city, thanks guys for the last minute recommendation. Now, trying Kentucky route zero, not sure if I am enjoying it to be honest. This is usually my type of game, but this one's got something that isn't quite resonating with me for now, gonna give it a bit longer but we'll see.
Thanks for the forgotten city recommendation. Somehow hadn't heard of that one, already got 3 of 4 endings, pretty good game. If you guys hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have played it, so thanks!
I'm all right playing at 30 FPS, but I think there should be 60 fps options available always. Understand if to give those options they need to make compromises, they can give players the info and then we'll make our preferred choice. The options should be there by standard

Playing High on life, decent simple fun so far. I have given a try to Forza horizon 5 although cars isn't usually my thing, but we'll see.
