Re: Review: Stalker 2 (Xbox) - GSC Game World's Long-Awaited Sequel Is A Mess

Stamnoso

@somnambulance Yeah...could very easily be the kind of thing that becomes the "standard meme" to use everytime a new mixed reviewed game releases U-.-

To be honest, I don't know what to make of this guy. Cause I respect the fact that an individual gamer can love a game that is generally seen as bad (and oh boy I've been there before xD) But I feel that when you're in a position such as Phil's, you should be a bit more careful about voicing this sort of opinions and the wording of it. Reason being a lot of people will hear him and take that as the opinion of Xbox (which arguably is, to a certain extent in like "operational" and "image" kinda ways) instead of his opinion as an individual gamer. I don't know, but yeah, I agree this sort of things could definitely com back to haunt you xD.

Re: Review: Stalker 2 (Xbox) - GSC Game World's Long-Awaited Sequel Is A Mess

Stamnoso

@Dalamar73 Fair, I feel there is a valid argument there and also, like I think you suggest, around "should Xbox have positioned themselves as close to it as they seemed to have done? for image, MK purposes etc." (e.g. saying these things about "game of the year" and then getting these sort of reviews projects a bad image on Xbox by association).

That said, my core point is, these guys are their own studio (dev. + pub), my view is that QC/QA and delivering within reasonable expectations is their responsibility first and before anybody elses.

Now, as said above, has Xbox still "dropped the ball" from an image point of view etc.? Yes, I agree, but I also think this is a very different case to, let's say Redfall in terms of the "finger pointing"

Re: Review: Stalker 2 (Xbox) - GSC Game World's Long-Awaited Sequel Is A Mess

Stamnoso

@MjJmediablogger Fair, but this isn't a first party release is it? correct me if I'm wrong anybody, but these guys are their own independent studio. My understanding was that, yes, MS supported/assisted with some parts of the developement via ID@Xbox program and you name it, but I'm interpreting your message as treating it as a first party. I've actually seen other people in other sites say it directly and I don't quite understand it.

Don't get me wrong, I think there's enough to critisise about Xbox releases in the last whatever time, but let's allocate blame where it belongs. I personally, don't feel it's reasonable to say this one is Xbox's "fault", as fashionable as that seems to be nowadays.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Confirmed For Xbox Series X|S In All-New Console Trailer

Stamnoso

@Banjo- Yeah, they're pretty cool stuff, right? this was another one of those series that I was aware of, but didn't really gave a try until quite late in my "gaming career". Started with P5 a couple of years back now, played P4G on GP last year and on P3R now in GP too. Yeah, got the DLC downloaded, altough I've heard people say mixed stuff about it. Anyway, I'll try for myself soon, I'm 60+ hours into the game and some pretty shocking stuff just happened, I think I'm on the last couple of months of the game.

Battlefield tactics is a genre that is hit and miss for me, sometimes I like, sometimes I don't (e.g. tried XCOM but for some reason didn't click, but recently completed Mario Rabbids 2 and I enjoyed it, I can't quite say why). Maybe someday will give Tactica a try, but don't know, there too much to play and I got too little time nowadays. I know there's a number of spin offs (e.g. strikers), but haven't quite found the time to play any really.

Re: Yooka-Replaylee Confirmed For Xbox Series X|S In All-New Console Trailer

Stamnoso

I have never played the Banjo-Kazooie games, it's one of those I couldn't play backl in the day cause I didn't have the right console and now it's on the ever growing backlog of things to play.

I gave money on kickstarter for this one and don't regret it, game was decent, I wouldn't say great. Generally ok with the "impossible lair" one too, although I had some doubts too. Still, as a fan of platforming games, I enjoyed it, so would recommend people who enjoy this genre and hasn't played it before to give it a try if reasonably priced.

I'm unsure, but maybe I'll play the remaster at some point too.

Re: Xbox's New Wireless Headset Is Out Today, Featuring Battery Life & Audio Improvements

Stamnoso

Hearing good things about the wireless headset previous and new, that's good an interesting. I originally bough a wired Xbox headset and I found audio quality was atrocious to say the least; I saw the wireless had better reviews, but I was already kinda discouraged about trying another MS xbox headset.

I ended up returning the xbox headset and just got a Razer Blackshark V2 wired, which I find to be extremely comfy and excellent for its price. Still the one I use, even at work on calls cause I can wear it all day.

Re: All Xbox Games With Mouse & Keyboard Support

Stamnoso

One FYI fellas, Immortals of Aveum is a solid game, can be played with K&M like It says above with PC mappings but for some reason the furies aren't mapped (a collection of types of spell) so it's not only limited but also flawed atm.

Re: Roundup: The Reviews Are In For Razer's 'Wolverine V3 Pro' Wireless Xbox Controller

Stamnoso

@Markatron84 Banjo shared a good review, so worth having a quick read.

I just had a go at comparing buttons in both (still got the drifty controller here) and this is my personal view, but I'd say:

  • Face buttons (i.e. ABXY) I'd say they're a bit clickier, perhaps very slightly smaller in size.
  • Again, I'd say the same for RB and LB, both clickier in my opinion. Triggers feel virtually the same.
  • d-pad is an actual "cross" shape, so to me that is a big plus, cause I never liked that weird "cross in a circle thing" that the standard Xbox controller has. It feels quite different when pressing it, the standard controller pad is kinda a short, sudden-ish press and noisy. On the Gamesir it feels like it's got more depth, it's smoother and a lot less noisy. Overall, I like this d-pad a lot more, but this might be a personal thing.
  • The sticks feel roughly the same, perhaps a bit smoother when pressing, but possibly overthinking it. I'd say the round edges are a bit more textured perhaps, which I think is nice.

The other thing I've noticed is the controller itself is perhaps a tiny bit bigger and slighly different shape. It's messing a bit with my mussle memory in a couple of minor things cause the central buttons are a bit further away and in a slightly different direction from/to the sticks and ABXY. Of course, this is a really minor thing cause my brain will get adjusted after a couple of hours. Not really a bad thing, simply a bit different, which I guess is to be expected.

Sorry, this turned out quite long in the end. Overall, I personally think the Gamesir controller feels better than the standard one + it's got some additional functions/buttons and customisations (as the review says) + hall effect stuff. Personally, if I had a fully functioning standard controller I wouldn't just change to this (but that's me not spending money perhaps) but if I was browsing the market for new controller and it was between the Gamesir and the standard one, I would definitely pick the former, I feel it gives you more for the same price. The only big thing you loose is wireless of course.

Re: Roundup: The Reviews Are In For Razer's 'Wolverine V3 Pro' Wireless Xbox Controller

Stamnoso

@Decimateh Yeah, drift is a plague nowadays. I've never had problems with controllers in the past, but I just got drift on the controller I got with my series X. This wasn't as bad for me, the controller "only" lasted just under two years.

That said, I feel these things should last longer than just a couple of years, they definitely did back in te day (yeah old dino grumpy mode activated).

Anyway, with Hall effect stuff we shouldn't have drift problems anymore (or so they say)

Now 200 quid is too much for me to spend on a controller, too many other things can be bought with that kind of money, but for those willing to pay the price this seems like a nice option.

As a side note, if you guys want something cheaper (i.e. £50), I've just bought a Gamesir g7 se. It also has Hall effect thumbstricks and triggers. Overall good reviews for this controller, feels good etc. obviously not an "elite" type controller, but still's got a couple of additional buttons, some customisation. The main drawback is that is corded, so if you can't live with that, not a good option.

Re: Final Fantasy Dev Insists The Future Is Bright For Square Enix Games On Xbox

Stamnoso

I don't need these to be released on Xbox, cause I could play them elsewhere. That said, Xbox it's currently my preferred platform to play with, so I would love to see FXVI and the pixel remaster on Xbox.

Less so FFVII remake, cause I don't like the "reboot" aspect of it, but might give it a chance someday (huge fan of the original).

The more the better, people can then choose where to play.

FFXIV was a nice addition, it's on my list cause everybody says it's brilliant. If I only had the time to play an MMO like in the olden days...

Re: Xbox IP Spotted In Upcoming PS5 Exclusive Astro Bot

Stamnoso

True, and fair enough on the wording, but the truth is that this is indeed MS IP. There's no way around that, regarldess of how long it's been the case.

Not that it matters really, this is nice. Obviously they are competitors, but within that context, it would be nice to see more of these "cameo" style things of cross-owned IP in games out there.

Re: Warhorse Studios Shows Off 20+ Minutes Of 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2' Gameplay

Stamnoso

I was aware of the first installment of this game, but I had wrongly assumed it was "just another" medieval RPG. I didn't know about the "realist" aspect of it (obviously I hadn't really read anything about the game, cause I assume that is THE usp of this)

Sounds pretty interesting, to the point I just logged into my Xbox to add the first one to my wishlist. I ended up buying it cause it's literaly at 3.50 atm (in UK) and it's the "royal edition" so it's got a bunch of DLC, the base game was at 2.50.

Re: Three Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass In Late August 2024

Stamnoso

Yeah, I enjoyed Atomic Heart so I would recommend. It's not a perfect game, but I thought the environment and world building was excellent and that was enough for me to enjoy.

Also enjoyed what to me felt a slower FPS gameplay rythm during a big part of the game (gains more rythm towards the end), but that maybe its not for everybody.

2 weeks is enough if you can play a couple of horus a day and just focus on it! and more or less the main story. As far as I can remember, I didn't get any big problem / bug type things with it, felt reasonably polished (this is series X)

Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week

Stamnoso

@Fiendish-Beaver Yes, fair, not the rumours themselves. I didn't choose my words well. What I meant is that there was all sorts of speculation from media included about Xbox going full 3rd party to the point that some sort of collective hysteria was created and I think a fair number of people believed that.

So, not what it's been said here, but all I'm saying is we'll see, many people raised all sorts of alarms before and it wasn't such a big deal in the end. It might very well be now (a real big big game), or in future.

Re: Rumour: Xbox To Announce 'Big' Game For PS5 Next Week

Stamnoso

This is just a rumor, last time it was also said the whole catalog was gonna go multiplat and it didn't happen. So, we shall see what happens now, but I think we need to be ready for this. There are ways in which this isn't neccesarily a bad thing, depending on what goes out there. And whatever it is, this is just gaming, let's please not get overexcited like last time!

On other more positive rumor news, there was a rumor on XboxEra about FFXVI coming to xbox earlier today.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 10-11)

Stamnoso

@Odium I absolutely agree, really enjoyed The order 1886 too, hope someday, somebody revisits it. Kinda had a similar experience recently when I tried Ryse Son of Rome, which I also enjoyed quite a lot.

Agree on game length, the optimum max is 30 ish hours imo, less that that is also brilliant for many games.

Re: Here's What Might Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass In September 2024

Stamnoso

@Darude84 Yeah, I know, it's bad when you feel your fighting against the clock on a GP title. Hopefully you'll find time to complete it.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, maybe part of it is my own fault. Maybe I had too high expectations or I simply wasn't on the right mindset. Whatever it is, it didn't resonate with me in the same way other old and recent titles have (e.g. Chained Echoes), which is a real shame. I just couldn't find myself caring about what happened to the guys, that said I thought it improved significanltly for me on the last 3rd of the game.

But many people has and is enjoying SoS, it's brilliant your're one of them, I wish I was as well. Anyway, that's the beauty of gaming too, there's something in there for all of us.

Next time we see each other on a topic and you have completed the game, let me know how you felt at the end. Always keen to hear a fellow gamer view

Re: Microsoft Rewards Is Nerfing Its 'Weekly Console Bonus' In The UK

Stamnoso

@R2DTARD77 Exactly on the same position, got a series X two years ago cause I couldn't get a Ps5 and I was amazed about how good a deal is what MS offers on Xbox.

Particularly amazed with the rewards programme, at last one that actually gives something back quite often. Despire recent downgrades, I still find it excellent, but agree would be good to get better view of what's coming.

Re: Here's What Might Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass In September 2024

Stamnoso

I see others mentioning Sea of Stars (which for now is not on the list, but was! (thanks for pointing out), which I also played, but unfortunately found it quite average. I enjoyed the world setting and some aspects of it, but I found the story writting, in particular, to be quite poor.

Re: Here's What Might Be Leaving Xbox Game Pass In September 2024

Stamnoso

Lies of P is well worth the time if you guys haven't tried. Cocoon was also excellent and quite short, so plenty of time to complete it.

Also found Gris interesting, but might not be everybody's cup of tea. It's quite a short game too, so if you're into that kind of "sub-genre" you might wanna give it a try.

Also liked Phoenix wright, but only managed to play the first one so far. Unlikely I'll play the other two if it goes next month, but might buy at a reasonable price.
