Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 15-16)

Stamnoso

Hey all hope you all are having brilliant weekends. On the Xbox been playing Boltgun, which is nice simple fun. Then, gave Immortals of the Aveum a try and I'm actually surprised. Genuinely shocked this game has reviewed so relatively low, maybe it gets worse, but so far I feel is a solid 8.

Finally some Mario Rabbids 2 on the Switch

Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The Xbox Games Showcase 2024

Stamnoso

Well, just had a good look at all these in a 1 hour video. Many many interesting concepts, I'm sure many will turn out to be really good games.

Despite all drama people are putting so much effort in creating, Xbox is not a bad place to be in my opinion (coming from a guy that only had a 360 before and didn't play it that much) it should all be about the games, let's see how it goes. Looking forward to these only shame is not having more to try all these.

Only thing I'm missing is more platforming games, Xbox has a bunch of good IPs. I would really like them to give some old (and new) IPs a try again (Rare's ones, Blinx, Crash, Spyro, ) would be good to see more FP movement there. Sure will get there some time.

Re: Reminder: Six Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass This Week

Stamnoso

@themightyant Agree on Chicory, it was good, but it took a couple of hours to get into it for me. I was expecting a simpler cosy game, but at times it gets darker than I thought it would. Which isn't a bad thing, but I was thinking it might be one for the little ones before playing it, and nope, it isn't in my opinion.

Re: Square Enix Announces New Dragon Quest Remake For Xbox Series X|S

Stamnoso

My experience with DQ has been a bit mixed, haven't played many, remember playing DQ8 on ps2 and actually having a pretty good time. Then, last year I played 7 on 3DS and despite being based on a really cool concept, I just found it increadibly tedious to play, so it's been added to the very short list of rpg games that I have left uncompleted in my life (I think there's only like 3 games in that list!) I couldn't get myself to complete it. So, it's good if it's coming out on Xbox, but unsure of whether I'll play it or not.

Re: Talking Point: Which Has Been The Most Reliable Xbox Console For You?

Stamnoso

I only had a 360 and didn't use it that much, then I got a series X that's been my main console for the last couple of years.

I haven't had any major problems with either, so not that bad. That said, I had a couple of issues with the series X controller (ish). One was that I bought one of those rechargeable battery packs and it died in a few weeks (wouldn't charge) Microsoft just refunded me, and I moved on to rechargeable AAA and never looked back. I used to think that having controllers using batteries was a bad thing, but now I think it's actually quite good to have the option.

The other thing is that occasionally when I press "A" it's registered as pressing twice. Which is a weird thing that comes and goes, so not quite sure if it is software, hardware or what. Not a major issue for now as it's not very common and it usually doesn't impact my gameplay.

Re: Review: Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 (Xbox): An Incredible Spectacle That Lacks An Essential Hook

Stamnoso

I tend to like this sort of games, so installed the first one.

Some people acting/suggesting as if this is worse than the first one but (exc. VR version) so far aggregated scores for first and second are very close. If that settles it'd be an interesting thing to see if both develop a similar rep, because I've heard mostly positive things about the first one and it doesn't feel like that so far with the sequel. I admit it might be my own individual bias and the sources I tend to visit etc. Just find it interesting so far, and wonder if there is a "this is now an Xbox game" effect kind of thing (and I'm personally starting to develop a strong opinion leaning towards "there is such effect")

Anyway, games are very personal and this one seems to be one of those that are going to divide those that give it a chance. Like Sea of Stars for me, I'm finding in somwhat slightly dissapointing and many others absolutely love it. It's part of the beauty of gaming, there's soemthing special for each of us out there, simply might not be the same.

Re: Talking Point: What Convinced You To Pick Xbox In The First Place?

Stamnoso

Above all the platform malarkey, I love games period. That said, I bought my series X cause at the time I couldn't find a ps5 (which had been my main, but not only, system since psx) and I also though there were loads of games worth a shot on Xbox that I hadn't played before. E.g. have enjoyed some Halo, Gears, Ryse son of Rome, Recore etc.

Now, I have a very wide taste in games so game pass actually goes very well with my gaming philosophy and it's an amazing deal for me, even after price increases (although still buy games)

So, yeah, I'm not in any rush to go back to ps and comparing both I think Xbox actually it's a more rounded gaming/service experience; I feel a get significantly more for my hard earned money on Xbox. I doubt I'll go back to ps, I'll likely go PC with game pass and steam + Nintendo console in coming years. Overall, really happy with my Xbox despite all the bad publicity.

Re: Square Enix To Include Xbox As Part Of 'Aggressive' New Multiplatform Strategy

Stamnoso

Kinda unsurprising as companies keep pushing themselves for more a more demanding growth targets and market getting more and more saturated, more multiplatform focus makes sense and is a logical move. We've all seen a version of this in the last few years with PS games coming to PC etc., which was unthinkable not so long ago. We shall see what happens.

Re: Best Xbox Crossplay Games

Stamnoso

I started playing a bit of Remant 2 and I found it quite cool to be honest, really nice atmosphere. Played with a bunch of good fellas from the PS world. Would recomment having a try if you haven't and are somewhat interested on it.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Pick 'Quality' Over 'Performance' Modes On Xbox Series X|S?

Stamnoso

Yeah, I've always though a game is perfectly playable at 30 fps, but I guess I started playing a long long time ago when these terms were not really a thing.

That said, what I found is that I typically do not really notice much difference between quality and performance in terms of the image quality. Must be I do not have such good eyes as other people out there. So, I typically end up going for performance becuase it's the noticeable one for me.

That said, there have been instances where there is a clear difference in image quality in which case I end up going for quality. An example of this was Everspace, where the change in graphics was pretty big between Quality and Performance.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 13-14)

Stamnoso

Being relatively new to Xbox, I'm playing some older games. I just completed Ryse Son of Rome and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I'm just shocked this got consistent low 60s back in the day. It's not a perfect game, but I think there is a lot to enjoy.

Might start something quieter now, I'm leaving on holiday and might play a bit on the phone with cloud gaming, so perhaps coffee talk 2. I enjoyed the first one.

If anyone has any older Xbox suggestions, I'm all ears. Enjoy the weekend people!

Re: Multiple Games Announced For Xbox Following February 2024's Nintendo Direct

Stamnoso

@Banjo- was wondering the same, quick google search lead me to IGN where they say is an enhanced version (see below copy/paste), so pretty excited about it.

"Vengeance is an enhanced version of Shin Megami Tensei V with new content. Two complete story paths await, including a brand-new storyline with new locations and demons, and where your choices will determine the fate of all existence. Navigate conflicting and tragic moral decisions and confront a dramatic tale of revenge or explore the original Shin Megami Tensei V saga."

Re: Roundup: Here's What Was Revealed At The Xbox 'Business Update Event'

Stamnoso

And here were are, one week later and nothing has really changed. It was always a case to case basis for FP games and it looks it's still the same. This is good for all gamers in general I think.

I'm really passionate about games, but I can understand being passionate about one platform too. Must be that I'm from a much older generation now (well into my 40s) but over the last week it was incredibly sad to see people on the "other side" mocking xbox fans and truly hoping for an "end to Xbox" and equivalent behaviours on this side.

Regardless of your taste in games and platforms, I truly hope you all enjoy gaming guys and keep on doing so, it's a truly beautiful hobby, but please, every now and again, do remember what is truly important in life. Regardless of how important you think gaming is to you, I do think it'll be strange if Xbox, ps, switch, pc or whatever will be the thing you're thinking about in the real key moments of your life.

Off to play some quantum break and Metroid now, good night all.

Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

Stamnoso

Personally, I think we should wait and see what they say, it's just one week of wait, not that bad. In the olden days, when I was young, you had to actually wait for stuff sometimes. I know... unbelievable!!! xD

First gen I'm actually spending most of my time on Xbox, and only had a 360 before (that was not my main system back then) and I don't think if they do release multiplat is necessarily a bad thing and there's a lot to be clarified about that. Is it all games or some? Is it parallel release in all plats or Xbox/pc then others? Is it all others or just some? Etc.

If they get more money to make more great games then not a bad thing, the real end of Xbox will come the day the business isn't performing well enough and they don't see a way to get where they want to. So, if true, this could very well ensure survival rather that the opposite.

Finally, let's entertain this whole rumor thing and assume it's all true, and they're gonna go full multi. Chances are they still sell consoles (it's not like they don't sell hardware in other saturated markets) and e.g. a series X/S would still be good value imo. It's a reasonably well priced, no fuss way of playing many games with reasonably good performance and having game pass too. That sounds like a decent way of spending my money, same as a ps5 or switch with more games. Depends what your priority is, and in many cases, perhaps where you've invested previously (e.g. having a big digital library on Xbox or whatever) If it simply was about having plat exclusives, then people would be moving more from console to PC, clearly this is where the biggest pool of games is/will be. You can pretty much assume all big stuff is gonna end up there at some point (except Nintendo stuff for now, give it time and who knows) So, I don't think consumer behaviour is that simple, but anyway let's wait a see what's going on.

Re: Redfall Fans Show Off Their 100+ Hour Playtimes On Xbox In 2023

Stamnoso

I'm sure the game is pretty decent and for sure not as bad as many say, plan to try it sometime soon. If it was in a really bad state at launch, fair enough, but there's no reason to carry on hating if it's running ok now.

Anyway, there's a bunch of hate around for certain games that I truly don't understand. If you've tried something and genuinely didn't like it, then fair enough, but otherwise it's just being bitter about things ,I personally don't understand. For example, I've just completed Atomic Heart+ dlc and the dlc is a bit weaker, but thought the main game was actually pretty good. Not a GotY, but definitely not the universally awful game is made out to be by some groups.
