Welcome to our latest 'What Are You Playing' discussion! With another weekend upon us, we're starting to think about what games we might play over the next few days - and yes, those Christmas backlog plans are also creeping up!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Ben Kerry, Staff Writer
This week of Xbox Game Pass drops hasn't really delivered anything to my tastes, so I'm now starting to think about tackling some of my backlog; playing some of the games I missed earlier in the year.
Fraser had good things to say about Keeper recently so that's something I'm keen to get stuck into soon, and looking back to earlier in the year, games like Avowed and DOOM: The Dark Ages also drifted by me as well. There's just too much to play, folks, but I'm hoping to tackle some of the 2025 Xbox games I missed over the next few days and weeks as Christmas season approaches.
Have a nice weekend, PXers!
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
I am exhausted after all the Game Awards madness this week! The only game that's on my must-play list for the weekend is Despelote, which is an amazing indie title that's crept into my Game of the Year picks. I'm planning to highlight it on Pure Xbox as soon as I'm finished - it's a game that deserves more attention.
Beyond that, I'll probably check out the new release of Thank Goodness You're Here! on either my Xbox Series X or ROG Xbox Ally, as I've heard great things about that one from the Nintendo Life crew. The rest of the time I'll probably just be trying to catch up on sleep... they could at least make The Game Awards a little earlier for us folk in the UK!
Have a great weekend, everyone.

Batman Arkham Origins all weekend long...
Assassin's Creed: Origins, Curse of the Pharoah dlc. I revisit this amazing game yearly or to be reminded why I love gaming or when needed. I still find new stuff in this gem and this dlc is gorgeous, 25 hours and perfect for a weekend.
Prime 4 still for me this weekend
Finished Lego Horizon the other day got 1 trophy left for the platinum so might try and get that today and more Outer Worlds 2 and some Battlefield 6. I also got a month of Gamepass for a £1 tried Blops 7 and it's terrible so I'm going to try Clair Obscur again started it when it released but didn't get very far.
Purchased The Messenger for $4 in a sale, so I'll be playing it. I've been meaning to play this since I finished Sea of Stars a few years ago. Such a cool game. It's like a funny, less punishing, old school Ninja Gaiden.
I'm gonna start up Marvel Cosmic Invasion, After that I think I'm finally gonna boot up South Of Midnight.. Happy Gaming everyone.. š
This weekend I'll be on Helldivers 2 and red dead redemption.
I'm going to finish off the Grinch game and play more of cosmic invasion!
Happy weekend folks āļø
Prehistorik Man on Evercade
And maybe Sea of Thieves and NORCO.
Equalicious (Windows Phone) - Still playing almost daily.
Angry Birds Seasons (Windows Phone) - Getting 3 stars on all these Christmas levels may drive me insane...
Angry Birds Space (Windows Phone) - Haven't made much progress this past week.
Finished Echo Generation again and also Child of Light yesterday (lovely game!).
I kind of promised myself to finish a few games I had started before the year ends, and Child of Light was the first of those.
Now it's The Mummy Demastered.
And I'm also just around the finish line in Gladius.
Happy gaming, guys!
@FarmDog08
I really liked The Messenger (haven't finished it though).
Less punishing? I don't know about that... š
Outerworlds 2 and Division 2 for me.
Dropped everything I was playing to jump into the new Path of Exile 2 patch 0.4 with the big highlight being the new druid class. I am still early game levelling and having a smashing time (literally with druid bear form.)
Oh yeah PoE 2 currently has a free weekend running if you are interested in taking a peek at the new patch.
I did notice Diablo 4 dropped a new class the much requested Paladin. I am sure i will play it eventually but PoE 2 is just way more exciting to me right now.
@Lup Well, less punishing so far, lol. I just got to the ice mountain.
Finishing up Rise of the tomb raider, more Conan Exiles and a game about digging a hole. Have a good weekend
Red Dead Redemption PS5 - I've been wanting to replay RDR for a while so the PS5 version dropping on Plus meant it was time to grab the hat and get on the horse again. Its not the most impressive remaster but it gives me the best version of the game and its still a very good game, however after maybe 5-6 hours I just felt like I had my fill. I remember much of the game and this version adds nothing new and its not a remake either so.... I can always pop in now and then and for a short while, maybe play a round of poker, so I'll take this sweet stroll down memory lane and ride off in to the sunset!
Dispatch - after all the great reviews I just couldnt wait any longer. I've finished my first playthrough late last night and its a really, really good game. The graphics style, humor, feeling etc is top notch. Maybe the actual dispatching and hacking got a bit tedious towards the end but I cant wait to start over and make some other choices. Very good game, very nice to see this kind of game be successful š
I'm still playing Outer Worlds 2 and I'll also start Lost Records. Followed by a few FM races and the Infinite mp.
Been planning to set up my PS5 too which has been its box since we moved home almost two years, and play Astrobot with the kids.
Happy gaming everyone.
Pretty much Metroid Prime 4 and only that.
Also playing some games with the family like Marvel Cosmic Invasion and some NSO games like Mario Tennis and Mario Strikers
A few things, Metroid Prime 4, Test Drive Solar Crown, and Octopath Traveler 0.
The Outer Worlds 2. Still in the Golden Ridge area. Havenāt played it as much as I want to because work has kept me busy, but I enjoy playing it when I get the chance.
F1 2025. Bought it in a recent Black Friday sale. Itās enjoyable and a solid racing game, but glad I didnāt pay full price for it.
Iām thinking of buying Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which is currently on sale (Ā£30) on the Xbox store. Have heard lots of good things about it, but not sure Iāll have the patience for it š¤
@Nightcrawler71 KCD 2 is an excellent game but its certainly a loooooooooooong term project a very fun project but yeah you certainly won't be completing it in a weekend š
Diablo 4 Paladin
@RiverGenie I donāt mind sinking my teeth into a long term game, especially as thereās nothing coming out in the near future, Iām more worried about how āaccessibleā the game is. Things like learning the combat systems, and even saving your game isnāt just a case of hitting the save button (apparently).
This weekend I'm gonna keep playing Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Black Myth: Wukong and probably start playing something else from my backlog.
I dunno yet tho, recently played through the Hitman: World of Assassination trilogy so I feel like I'm still digesting that.
@Nightcrawler71 the combat does have a bit of a learning curve but its much more approachable than the original game and more consistent too. Its not Elden Ring level difficult but you can't just button mash so it does take a bit of effort.
Saving if i remember correctly was either using a saviour schnaps potion (easy enough to craft), sleeping in a bed or when you quit the game it saves. While its not a traditional save system its not as bad as it might sound & I don't recall any issues with it.
@DeadSpace The best arkham game!
Dragon Quest XI S (Switch) Just got Erik's orb back
Terminator 2D (Series X) Finally the Terminator game I have been waiting for.
Mutant Football League 2 (Series X) Loved the first game. Can't wait to start this one.
This weekend I'm juggling Battlefield 6 (with friends), The Outer Worlds 2, Red Dead Redemption Remastered and when I feel like switching it up I've been exploring Assassin's Creed Mirage! Pretty much a solid few games on my rotation atm. Happy gaming āļø
@AverageJoseph is the Diabo 4 Paladin out now? Or is it coming out with the DLC?
On Xbox:
Dredge
Currently on Day 31 and still exploring and doing missions around The Marrows.
On other platforms:
American Truck Simulator
Delivered clamshell buckets to Mojave. After 10 days my DF Logistics trucking empire has 4 trucks.
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Finished the Butterfly Collector missions around Osaka. Currently level 17.
@Sol4ris I'm still enjoying The Outer Worlds 2 as well. I've also been slowly exploring Red Dead Redemption Remastered, and I played Assassin's Creed Mirage for the first time last night lol (even though I've owned the game since early 2024).
I'm with you, my PS5 is setup but I haven't touched it much in 2025. The only games I played on it was Ghost of Tsushima and Helldivers 2. That was earlier this year, I genuinely have no desire to play anything on it atm, I'll end up getting Ghost of Yotei when the price drops in a year or two.
Astro's Play Room is amazing lol definitely a highlight of the PS5 for sure!
@Brigurugi missed this one but played odyssey and Valhalla. I loved Egypt history growing up so will get to this. Whatās length like compared 2 the following 2 and does it still hold up
Grinch with the kid. Arc raiders and starting winter burrow tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend everyone. Hope we are all getting festive and ready for some down time with games the next few weeks
@brettvsgodzilla Performance-wise the game is gorgeous especially with the Series update(occasionally something wonky happens but just adds to the charm). I have two separate saves(playthroughs) one at 80 hours another over 100(but you can breeze through the story under 40), there's a New Game+, hard mode and another 35 hours between both DLC. Some may call it bloated but I love ticking off locations and improving my weapons of choice(of which you have many to choose). I find the game easy, even the first time through, probably easiest in the series on normal difficulty.
As far as historically, I've spent hours just taking and composing photos and just exploring. Its a wonderful game world to live in and I revisit often. I for one loved this Ubisoft. This was peak of that era.
Im Ice fishing for the next few days but I have been hankering to get back into flight sim 24. I might check back in with oblivion remastered too. Hopefully that game is running better.
Diablo 4 Paladin time!
A lot of Metroid Prime 4 for me this Weekend. It's fantastic.
On the Xbox front, South of Midnight and Forza.
Happy gaming everyone.
@RiverGenie Thanks for the tips! š
Ive been trying V Rising as a single player seeing as its on a service, and I must say Im having a lot of fun. You can change lots of options to reduce grind time if needed, and I do!
Was hoping to try DK on the switch 2 at last, but my wife is hooked on 'strange horticulture' so I think my options for switch gaming are gone for a few days.
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
@nomither6 yeah it's good. I don't understand why it has bad reputation. Just because different studio made it doesn't make it worse. It's actually very good. The only thing that bothers me is combat. It seems as the character doesn't always act as I want it (contra, wtc.).
Nier: Automata
Cocoon
Black Mesa
I'm playing through Still wakes the deep before it leaves GPU. Just got to the processing quad, so I don't think I have too much more to go šš
@Link41x You are probably like one of three people on the planet who are still playing Windows Phone games on a regular basis lol
@Questionable_Duck On a quest to beat what I own before the device dies lol
@Brigurugi thanks dude Iām sold. Will be one for new year to start. Thank you
