Talking Point: What Do You Hope To See From Xbox Developer Direct Next Month?

Yesterday, in and amongst all of The Game Awards madness, Microsoft's Matt Booty came out and quietly announced Xbox Developer Direct 2026 - featuring Fable and Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games. We certainly expected this event to go ahead next month, but the way it was revealed yesterday was definitely a bit of a surprise.

Still, it's nice to have the news out there, and it's also nice to have at least one Xbox team confirmed for the showcase. It's looking like Playground has a lot to show off next year with those big two games planned for 2026, and we're very excited to see more of them. To date, Playground just hasn't missed when it comes to delivering great Xbox games!

Usually though, Xbox Developer Direct contains four or five titles, and that has us thinking about what other Xbox teams may show up. The Coalition could be a part of this following yesterday's confirmation of a 2026 release date for Gears of War: E-Day, and we have Halo: Campaign Evolved penned for next year as well. It stands to reason that both of these famous Xbox franchises, and their respective dev teams, could be present at the show next month.

Before we hand this one over to your suggestions and theories, we do want to mention that Xbox Developer Direct often contains a little surprise or two - so there's every chance that one of the games featured is something we know nothing about right now. Those are harder to predict of course, but feel free to theorise what else might appear at Dev Direct in January!

Right then, what do you see making an appearance at Xbox Developer Direct 2026? Talk to us about your suggestions down in the comments.
