New Xbox Hardware Is Reportedly On The Way In 2026

One of the things that was mentioned in Windows Central's big report / predictions piece on Xbox in 2026 today was that new Xbox hardware is set to arrive at some point this year.

No, it's almost certainly not going to be the new Xbox console, but the article mentions how they "suspect" it could be the Xbox Elite Series 3 Controller that's been rumoured for some time now, along with maybe other controller revisions.

"I'm told Microsoft's next-generation Xbox controllers all support direct-to-WiFi connectivity, eliminating Bluetooth latency from cloud gaming scenarios."

Back in April, the same reporter shared some very pinch-of-salt predictions about what might be on the way:

Beyond controllers, it's teased that there's "always the chance" we could see more "Xbox" branded OEM hardware in 2026, perhaps using the Xbox Full Screen Experience user interface in a similar way to the ROG Xbox Ally handheld.

It's even mentioned that an Xbox branded PC could potentially be coming out in 2026, described as "credible rumours", but it's said that "time will tell whether or not that one pans out".

Whatever ends up happening, it certainly sounds plausible that Xbox has more hardware to release this year, and then obviously the next Xbox console is on the horizon. Nothing is mentioned in this report about a release date for the console, but a separate report has suggested it could be delayed from a 2027-28 window due to RAM price increases.
