Phil Spencer Reveals 'Xbox 25' Logo And Shares Video Message Ahead Of Developer Direct

With the Xbox Developer Direct showcase around the corner and the 25th year of Xbox finally underway, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has shared a video message to fans over on LinkedIn of all places.

In his message, a version of which you can see in the post below, Spencer teased that Xbox will be celebrating its 25th anniversary "all year long", and those celebrations will kick off with the Developer Direct showcase on January 22nd.

Here's a look at the video, along with a transcript:

"Hello everyone, I'm Phil Spencer from Xbox, and happy 2026. Almost 25 years ago, on November 15th of 2001, the original Xbox launched. It's been an amazing journey, and we want to thank you all for being right there with us. As we celebrate all year long, we're excited to look ahead and kick off our celebrations with Developer Direct, featuring Fable and Forza Horizon 6 from Playground Games, and GameFreak's Beast of Reincarnation. We hope you enjoy going inside the studios and hearing from the game creators themselves."

As you can see, this video gives us our first glimpse at the "Xbox 25" logo that we'll likely be seeing a lot over the next 12 months, and it indicates that Microsoft is certainly taking this anniversary seriously.

Of course, we pretty much already knew that — Spencer mentioned a few months ago how 2026 would be a "really special year" for Xbox, and we've got major games from multiple tentpole franchises set to arrive in the near future.

It all starts with the Xbox Developer Direct later this month, and if past versions of the event are anything to go by, it should end up being one of the best showcases of the year. We'll have all the coverage here at Pure Xbox when it lands!
