Avowed Releases For PS5 Alongside Free 'Anniversary Update' On Xbox This February

Glad the Sony gang get to play it finally, one of my games of the year in 2025.
The more I played it the more I liked it.
Looks like Xbox studios are giving PlayStation a lot more love than Sony studios in 2026.

A little sad the new content is only skin deep. New races are nice and I'm glad we're getting a new weapon that will add a little variety, but I actually really enjoyed Avowed and was hoping we were going to get a big story expansion soon. Hopefully they still have something big in the works for later this year. I'm not ready to bury Avowed just yet.

Curious what the "And much more!" will amount to.

Well, not long to wait for the new content. It was a good idea to hold.off on starting this game, apparently.

Hahaha WOW. How would that even be worth the money to port? NOBODY is buying Avowed lol. There are things that 20 year old Oblivion did that this game can't manage in its static, people frozen in one spot, boring world........... and people give out about TES' engine and capabilities.
Obsidian have such a knack for mediocrity lately. I say lately but mediocre, unimpressive, short, Avowed took SIX YEARS TO MAKE.

A one year exclusivity window on every first party title will absolutely not save the Xbox brand nor will it convince new people to commit to their delusional Xbox cloud strategy. It suxx imo but it was to be expected anyway… I don’t think it will sell tons of copies on ps5 even though I enjoyed the game.

@Sindayl Timed exclusivity (sometimes more than a year), day‑one on Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere (console, PC, cloud), not to mention the fact that games are often better optimized on Xbox. That’s a lot of solid advantages.

The next console will be able to play all games, and since more and more titles are Steam‑only, that’s yet another advantage for the upcoming Xbox console — a full, native backward compatibility, one more advantage,  I don’t know what more you’re asking for.

As for temporary exclusives, Sony does the same thing: after a year their games end up on Steam, and therefore on Xbox. When you add up all the advantages, Xbox comes out ahead.

We haven’t seen anything about the next pc/xbox. Those « solid » advantages are exactly what I point as weak points or at least as disadvantages/stuff that simply won’t appeal to the broader audience and now the ps5 pro consistently gets the best optimization anyway.

Add to that the current GPU pricing which has become such a joke that it’s hard to see it as an advantage anymore imo. Sony doesn’t do the same thing at all since they don’t put all of their first party titles on Xbox…
