@coinstar5 I’ve just installed it via remote play but it’s saying I need a GTA+ subscription, the install was 9.6GB but the actual full download is supposed to be 20.55GB.

Ah well that’s me back on Silent Hill 2 until Rockstar sort this mess out.

I’ve now got the option to download the Series X/S version now, I’ve just checked on the Xbox app. So anyone who owns the digital Xbox 360 version is definitely entitled to the free X/S upgrade. Don’t click on the bundle option, instead click on the stand alone one. I’m downloading it when I get in later, yeehaw!!

Yeah right now I’m not sure those of us who own the 360 version are going to receive this upgrade for free. I’ve just posted in another RDR article to Fraser, it’s one thing PS4 and Switch getting this upgrade for free but it’s another when the only other Xbox version is from two console generations ago. So yeah at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if those of us with the digital 360 version aren’t eligible for the free upgrade.

@FraserG Ah right that’s a relief, I honestly thought us on Xbox were being screwed over as it’s one thing those on PS4 and Switch getting the upgrade but we’re getting the upgrade from a version two console generations ago.

@FraserG Any word on how we go about getting this free upgrade? I already own the digital 360 version, have done for many years, but when bringing up the new X/S version on the Xbox Store it’s showing to pay £24.99?

@fatpunkslim I bought the game last night and I absolutely love it. I’ve only just got the handgun at Wood Side Apartments but already spent hours exploring up to that point, entering every building possible collecting items and going for all collectibles.

Already can’t wait for the original Silent Hill to be remade and I’ll definitely be trying out Silent Hill F someday.

I’m planning on buying Silent Hill 2 and Dying Light: The Beast next month. They’ll keep me busy going into the new year.

@Chip-Douglas I’ve got the Xbox cloud gaming app but there’s only a certain selection of games on there, not a whole library like on console. One of my kids is getting a gaming PC for this Christmas so I’ll just go on his for Xbox Windows games 👍🏻

@dskatter @Chip-Douglas Is there a way to play the Windows version without a PC or laptop? Thought they’d be a way to play it on an iPhone or something.

@fatpunkslim I’ve seen people posting their thoughts on the amount of enemy encounters in the game and a lot have said they wished there were less enemies as the combat got tedious and they were frustrated that they couldn’t explore and take in the atmosphere because of enemies keep ambushing them. One even said they couldn’t even explore the prison properly due to the amount of enemies and had to keep moving on.

I may still get it, especially at the price it’s at right now. When finishing off an enemy do they stay dead and won’t appear in that area again or do they always respawn? I’m hoping it’s the former, especially in a game like this.

I’m not too sure about buying the game now after reading that there’s a heavy emphasis on combat with the amount of enemies in the game. I can see that would ruin the immersion the original game is known for, whereas in this remake it seems the enemies are more cannon fodder than actual scary encounters. I also like to take my time exploring every area in a game like this and a constant stream of enemies would spoil that.

I’ve not bought it yet, I’m about to start a proper play through of Cyberpunk 2077. I’m going to buy this next month as there’s no hurry to take advantage of the 50% off sale since it’s apparently on offer until 8th January according to the Xbox app.

I’m looking forward to playing it as the last time I played a Silent Hill game was the original on PS1. I was just a kid back then and barely made a start as it was just too intense and scary, now it looks even more so in this remake 🫣

I don’t usually buy linear one and done games but at half price on release I’m very tempted to buy this. How long is the half price offer on for?

I’ve not played Silent Hill since the original on PS1. I wonder why they’ve remade SH2 and not SH1 first.

I’ve got a Just For You deal for Dying Light the Beast with 25% off, only an extra 5% off from the normal sale but I’ll also be using £5 worth of reward points towards it so I get it for £40. Only game I shall be buying from this sale.

I’m very surprised at the amount of people who have cancelled. I think it’s still a fantastic service, yes the recent price hike isn’t great but I’m always trying out most games that are added to the service and I make the most of the rewards points which gives big bonuses being a Ultimate member. I still only pay £12.99 for GPU with loaded.com but I’m expecting the price to rise eventually.

Love a good horror game but I’ll be spending what rewards points I have on Arc Raiders. Glad SH2 remake is coming to Xbox I’ll either rent it or buy it in a sale someday.

Any games that are meant to be releasing around the new GTA 6 date may actually want to bring their games forward as they think many players could still be engaged in GTA 6 well into 2027, especially when GTA Online 2.0 is up and running.

Seen this coming, it got to a point where I’d of been more surprised that it released in May. Oh well what’s another 6 months when we’ve had over 12 years of GTA 5?

Still have this installed since it came to Game Pass day one, barely made a start then decided to wait for patches to the point the devs were completely done with supporting the game. Now it’s leaving Game Pass I’ll just buy it in a sale eventually.

@RetroMan71 I think it has sold out, the Phantom edition is still showing as available to buy despite it not releasing until tomorrow. Looks like I’ll have to use the £10 reward points I’ve accrued on top of the 10% off with being a GPU member. It’s literally only £3 more not buying from Loaded.com.

For anyone who’s looking to buy the game you can get both versions at a decent discount. On loaded.com (formerly CDkeys.com) you can get the standard version for £49.99 or the Phantom edition for £69.99.

I’m going for the standard version as I don’t care for in-game skins.

Very surprised with the jump in price for basically just Ubisoft+ Classics (which I have no interest in as I either own or played the games), Fortnite Crew (I don’t even play the game) and extra Reward points (of which I’ll at least take advantage of). I’m still going to keep subscribing to Ultimate as my youngest kid plays Fortnite and would benefit from the Fortnite Crew membership. Also I’d still like to play day one games that get added to Ultimate. I’m dropping my oldest kid’s Game Pass tier to Essential as he only needs the online multiplayer for the 2 or 3 games he only plays.

I’ve had this installed since it came out last November and barely made a start as I’m wanting the game to be fully updated like Cyberpunk 2077 is now. At this rate by the time that happens it will of left Game Pass and I’ll end up buying the game in a sale. It was pointless Game Pass getting this game day one imo.

Are we able to dock this with a TV? I know it defeats the purpose with it being a handheld but I’d like to play some games from Steam on my 65” tv.

I’m pre-ordering it, I’ve watched a few gameplay videos and I really like the look of it. I’ve had a PS5 for years but only ever played single player exclusives, never paid for PS+ so missed out on this when it first released but I’m glad it’s coming to Xbox now though.

Sony can’t expect similar sales on Xbox but I think it’ll sell well enough to justify the port. If they are really happy with the sales then I don’t see no reason why they wouldn’t port all the other exclusives that were ported to PC.

@M0RDECAI13 I meant that the game looks like a proper AAA title like Battlefield 6, it has a campaign mode whereas free-to-play is usually online only that relies on people buying skins, battlepasses etc. I know there are in-game purchases for skins but just curious as to why they’ve made it F2P when BF 6 is full priced game. The comparison has to be made because both are very similar games.

I’m going to buy this at some point but for now I’m happy with my G7 SE. I take it I’d have to buy a battery pack for this or use rechargeable AA batteries?

Sounds all very good and I’m definitely going to play it but what’s the catch with it being free-to-play? From what we’ve heard about the game so far they could of easily have put a price on it, so why is it F2P?

I’m not expecting this to release until late 2027 but I’m very much looking forward to it, been a fan of Max Payne since it first came out on PC.

I won’t be bothering with it for a second play through then. I play games to relax and enjoy, not get stressed and frustrated. Least it’s good for those who enjoy a challenge.

I really enjoyed my time with it. I’ve always preferred Battlefield over other online FPS, BF 2042 is the only one in the series I never bought since Bad Company.

I do think the maps in BF 6 are really small though, which means there’s a lot of respawning like in CoD, compared to the others in the series and it can’t have anything to do with reducing the player count to 64 because the others had massive maps. I’m hoping they add bigger maps in future and already have at least a few when it releases.

3% voted Battlefield 2042, I’m not having that. Easily the worse in the series and I’m willing the majority would agree.

I voted BF Bad Company 2, it’s Vietnam dlc was epic. I’m looking forward to BF 6 being properly released and interested in how it fares in this list.

@Ricky-Spanish This could potentially harm Rockstar’s revenue since I’m willing to bet most of the people who buy shark cards and fill the lobbies online are mostly underage but like we’ve already said the kids will likely find a way around the age verification somehow.

What an absolute carry on this will be but I suppose it’ll just be a one time thing? Also it could possibly be a good thing having less kids trolling us while playing the online portion of the game. Thing is though I bet most kids will just get an adult relative to set up the age verification for them so they can access the game. They can’t really close that loophole down.

@Romans12 It’s handy for people to do it now who don’t have a great internet connection and can have it ready to play on release rather than waiting hours (many hours for some).

It’s 68.7GB but I have 1 gig broadband speed which averages around 750Mbps for downloads so I’ll just be downloading the game on 26th since it’ll only take about 20 minutes to fully download.

I honestly don’t see why Sony shouldn’t release 5+ year old games on Xbox. It’s not like it’s going to affect their console sales or anything, they have more to gain than lose. I’d certainly buy Days Gone Remastered on Xbox despite completing the original version on PS5.

If Sony started bringing their old first party games over to Xbox while reiterating that they are not coming to Game Pass then I think they would sell well enough to justify porting them over to Xbox.

I’ve just bought Choo-Choo Charles for £4.18 the lowest it’s been in a sale, it was the only game I was interested in as all the others I’ve already played/owned.

I got a bit excited then thinking it was that game Kingmakers where you take on massive medieval armies with modern weapons and vehicles on huge battlefields.

This looks decent but does look quite clunky and low budget, I’ll see how it fairs after release before I consider buying it.

I’m a bit late with my comment/opinion but I have been reading the articles and comments since last night.

Just wow. The mismanagement is unreal, how have they let it get to this point? Phil and co have got to change the way they manage their studios going forward because it can’t keep going the way it has.

Even though I’m disappointed with all this, I’m still going to be invested into the Xbox ecosystem by still subscribing to Game Pass every month playing on my Series X and buy their next gen console but I now definitely don’t see them the same as I did since 2001 and before all of yesterdays news. I can understand some people being done with the brand after all the controversies over the years but the day I’m done with Xbox is the day they stop with console hardware and game pass and go full 3rd party publisher.

Today on Edge I got the option to earn 500 points, by just clicking on it, for being MS rewards user for so many years. People should check that out.

Absolutely love the games Remedy put out like Alan Wake, Control, Quantum Break and of course the first two Max Payne games.

I played FBC: Firebreak earlier today for a couple of hours and I honestly thought it was fun and can see myself going back to it now and again. It’s definitely not up there with their other games but it’s good enough in its own way.

It’s a bit unfortunate we’re going to have to wait a while longer for the wireless version for Xbox but I can wait as I love my current G7 SE, a wireless version with extra tech is perfect for me.

I’ve got a code despite not owning GoW Ultimate Edition, only played from Game Pass. Code is wasted on me as I sub to Game Pass every month and was intending to play Reloaded on the service anyway.

Now that I know it’s basically the same as the other Ally models where it’s a handheld PC where you can download from Steam, I’m now more interested but it’s the price that would prevent me from actually buying it. If I ever went for one it would have to be the Xbox Ally X but I’m not paying more than £600 for it, couldn’t justify paying that much for a handheld and it’ll probably only be £100-£200 less than the next gen consoles.

Pre-orders are up and the standard version is £44.99 and Digital Deluxe Edition is £58.32 which includes what looks like two maps Home Invasion and Dark Waters.

I’ll be pre-ordering the standard version myself as I think the £44.99 price is very reasonable.

Well the ROG Ally X is currently £799 so it’s not going to be cheaper than that is it? Unless the Xbox Ally is restricted to just Xbox games and doesn’t offer all the benefits of the other Ally models where you can download from Steam etc so therefore it should be about £100 or £200 less.

I personally wouldn’t pay more than £500 for the ROG Xbox Ally X, hence why I’ve not bought a ROG Ally before as I think they are just too expensive for what they are. The Series X was £450 on release which has much more powerful specs, yes it’s a stationary static console that you can’t take anywhere with you and play on the go but is that why the Ally X is £350 more? If so that’s ridiculous.

Like @GuyinPA75 said there was far too many anime style games. Got to be the worse Xbox Games Showcase I’ve ever seen.

There were five games I was interested in like Grounded 2, High on Life 2 and Resonance: A Plague Tale but the other two we already knew about Outer Worlds 2 and Gears Reloaded. Honestly surprised we didn’t see anything for Fable, Gears E Day, Everwild, State of Decay 3, Perfect Dark. Not one of those were shown.
