Xbox Reminds Game Pass Members To Buy Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 If They Want To Play It Day One 1

Xbox has pinged notifications to Game Pass subscribers reminding them that in order to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 day one on Xbox, they're going to have to, well...purchase the game.

Since Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard, each new Call of Duty release has been available day one with a Game Pass subscription. That was until the decision came in April to delay the inclusion of new entries until "the following holiday after launch (about a year later)".

The message reiterates Modern Warfare 4 "won't be available in Game Pass at launch" and its "Game Pass availability starts Holiday 2027" before directing your thumb downward toward a great big Microsoft Store button in order to purchase the game.

I can see the humorous side about being prodded by Xbox, not much gets me going quite like the setting of firm expectations, which is what Microsoft is trying to do with its Xbox Game Pass members.

From a PR point of view, I can see why Xbox would want to avoid any confusion heading into October, which could see CoD fans taking to social media over perceived mismanagement of expectations. It would be silly, but not improbable. Best to know what you're paying for, I suppose!

It wasn't even that long ago that we asked you, the lovely Pure Xbox community, what you thought about the decision to delay new Call of Duty titles on Game Pass and here's what you thought.
