Today marks the launch of Samson - A Tyndalston Story on consoles and we've got our first proper look at the game on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Liquid Swords' GTA-like action-adventure suffered from a rocky PC launch back in April. The team has since been hard at work implementing fixes to make the game better whilst simultaneously preparing to launch the game on modern consoles. The big update introduced a bunch of quality of life fixes, additional unlocks, and visualisations to make combat and driving easier to read throughout the game.

While we wait for console impressions, we can at least take a look at how Samson looks and performs across both Xbox Series X|S, courtesy of footage from Fuzion Xbox Testing on YouTube. So, let's get into it.

On the Xbox Series X, it's suggested that Samson attempts to output 4K resolutions in both Quality and Performance modes, however it looks as though the latter option's internals are closer to 1080p.

As for frames, Performance mode appears to hold onto 60FPS for large portions of the gameplay, with the occasional dropped frame here and there. When things gets busy during driving sequences, frames can drop as low as 49FPS. Quality mode, on the other hand, does a good job sticking to 30FPS, with the odd fluctuation between 29-31FPS.

Onto the Xbox Series S, this is where things get a bit muddy. Samson appears to only offer one performance mode which targets 1080p resolution, but internally, it seemingly comes in at around 720p instead. Frame rates are sturdy though. Instead of opting for a 30FPS lock, it seems as though Samson supports a sturdy 29-32FPS range on Xbox Series S.
