I know everyone loves Capcom but I don't think there's anything they have that I like. I enjoyed their old Resident Evil games, but not the new ones. I know, they're the best games ever, they're masterpieces, etc etc. I just don't like them.
I would be all over a new Ace Attorney, but they have us starving with that.
Honestly I'm just tempted to buy the original RE4 again which I have in most consoles.
I mean, Persona does that since the PS2 era, and even games like Lufia 2 back on the SNES did that. I agree that it's not as common though. And I agree with you in that I feel like that is a better option, but I wanted to show some love to Lufia. 🤣
A bit overhyped, but not a bad game. Combat was a mix of Shadow Hearts and Paper Mario (so it's been done before).
If you're an RPG fan they were always options. Persona 5 was part of the 360 era actually (the very end). At least on Playstation.
I tried.that one, I'm weak for open world games. I dropped it to play other things, but it wasn't the game' s fault. It was fun. I wanted to go back, but I'm not sure less than two weeks are enough to finish it now. 😅
I'll say something though. Every Dynasty Warriors gane adapts the same story. Same with Samurai Warriors. I mean they're inspired by real events (heavily romanticized) so they only can do so much. So at least it's not like you have to follow a story from 4 to 5 and then to 6 and so on. Any one ia a good place to start (except 9, you fool 🤣).
Answering your question, there's like 25 DW games counting only Xtreme Legends and Empires spin-offs along with the main ones. 💀 That's not counting Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi or the handheld games/anime games.
I think DW8 Empires is on sale right now. (DW9 Empires too, but don't buy that one).
Things to have in mind if you go for an Empires games:
They don't have much of a story. It's more like "do your thing, serve the Lord you want/create your own army and unify China recruiting any character.
You'll probably don't know who's who. 🤣
Don't be afraid to go from Normal to Easy if Normal is too hard. I'd say try both, Easy can be too easy too.
Empires games are voiced only on Japanese (I think 6 was the last one with English dub).
You can create your own character! Lots of characters, actually. You could have your own army full of created characters if you want.
Your character can get married and have children that become playable later (with varied results. Some are cool, some end up looking like Frankenstein's monsters, but that's half of the fun 🤣).
If you go for Warriors Orochi:
3 and 4 are available on Xbox.
You'll probably don't know who's who. 🤣
It does have a story but the gameplay doesn't focus on capturing bases.
It has fantasy stuff, like the name implies.
3 has guest characters from other Koei games. Some from Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive, like Ryu, Ayane, etc. Others are myth/historical figures from other Koei games, like Joan of Arc and Achilles.
4 doesn't have guest characters but adds Greek gods like Zeus and Ares thay weren't in any other Warriors game.
In 4 some specific characters get a... Kinda super transformation?
Both Orochi games are voiced only on Japanese too. I mention this in case it's not your thing.
I played only Warriors Orochi 1-3, I still have to play 4 so I can't say if it's good or not.
Sorry for the long reply. Check some gameplays though!
I haven't played the Hyrule ones sadly, haha. Don't have a Switch. By how you say it, that kinda sounds like the Empires ones. You go around capturing bases making a path to the enemy's Main Camp. Warriors Orochi is more like, you get a few objectives on the battlefield and kill everything in your way to get to it. I'd say check a gameplay first just to be sure, I would feel bad making you spend money on something you don't like. 🙏🏻🤣
I played WO3 back on the PS3 (it's originally from that gen) so be aware of that, I'm not sure how good the new-gen version looks.
And remember we're talking on an article about Free Play Days. You could always check Dynasty Warriors Origins for free. Which is a little different.
I totally get you, my man. That's why I'm so grateful for the Series S. I wouldn't be on this generation if it wasn't for that.
I remember Warriors Orochi 3 and 4 (crossover between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors with fantasy stuff) and Samurai Warriors 5 being on the Xbox store.
SW5 is kind of a reboot. Not bad but not the best either, the biggest problem is clone weapons (different characters with the same moveset).
Warriors Orochi 4 is kind of a reboot too. Warriors Orochi 3 has guest characters like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden so you might like that, but both can be a little overwhelming because they have like +90 characters that you're kinda supposed to know, haha.
I'd say 8 is one of the best. I'd say 7 is a good place to start, but that one is an oldie now (PS3/360 only).
8 is the easiest one to get, as it's on almost every platform (but I don't think Xbox is one of them) I don't remember if you also have another platform to play? Samurai Warriors 4 is also really good, but If you ever want to try, just pay attention at what edtition you're getting because there's quite a few of every game and it's a little confusing, haha. For example there's the Empires subseries that add some turn-based strategy in the mix.
Not a knockoff, my man, those are made by the same guys from Koei. They have the main series (Dynasty Warriors) and then they do collaborations with anime or other series. They made Gundam, One Piece, Fist of the North Star, Fire Emblem and those Zelda ones too. They also did two Dragon Quest ones (Playstation exclusives I think). Normally they experiment more with those.
If you tried only 9, that is literally the worst one. Universally agreed, haha. They had to reboot the series with Origins because of how bad it was.
If it was 8 which is one the best... Well, might not be for you. Wasn't trying to change your mind though. Only that I've never seen someone talk so good about DW so that it could be considered overrated. 🤣
I'm a big fan of Ninja Gaiden. Both the old ones and the "modern" ones. This one looked really good since the beginning. Ninja Gaiden tomorrow and Shinobi next month. We're eating good.

Re: Brutal Action-RPG 'Hell Is Us' Gets Free Xbox Series X|S Demo Today
This one couldn't be further from what I like about games. Not gonna even bother with the demo.
Re: Capcom Publisher Sale Now Live On Xbox, Alongside More Weekly Game Pass Discounts
@Ricky-Spanish
Nope. Enjoyed the first one but the second doesn't interest me at all.

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon About To Become Xbox's Main Forza Franchise?
Before having my first Xbox I didn't even know Forza Motorsport existed. But I did know Forza Horizon at least from name.
Re: Three New Demos Have Been Added To The Xbox Store Already In August
Shinobi looks so freaking beautiful.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Playing Assassin's Creed Mirage On Xbox Game Pass?
@TrollOfWar
Maybe you'll like it then. 🤣
Re: Talking Point: Are You Playing Assassin's Creed Mirage On Xbox Game Pass?
Already played it back around release on Ubi+. I knew I wasn't gonna like it. It was the first Assassin's Creed game I didn't buy.
After Odyssey and Valhalla, it was a complete dissapointment.
If you're one of those fans stuck in the past that only care about the Ezio games, maybe you'll like it. It was as boring as AC1 or Revelations.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 9-10)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate is amazing.
I need to continue with Jade Empire and Raidou Remastered.
And I've been trying so many indies I don't even remember all of them.
I've also been playing a little Watchdogs Legion again. Amazing game too.
Re: Pick One: What's Your Favourite Battlefield Game On Xbox?
Haven't played any and I don't think that's going to change. 😅
Re: Ninja Gaiden 4 Performance Modes Detailed Ahead Of Xbox Game Pass Launch
This is the kind of hard game I like. Rolling around and pressing RB to attack once in a while gets old really fast for me.
Re: Xbox Is Officially 'Stopping' Development On First-Party Game Contraband
Not to sound rude, but can't really care about a game I knew nothing about.

I think you said it yourself.
"For me".
A lot of people can enjoy groundbreaking AAA graphics and indie games too.
Re: Talking Point: So, Are You Buying Mafia: The Old Country On Xbox At Its $50 Price Point?
No way I'm paying full price
Doesn't look like my cup of tea. I could buy it on sale. It's pretty short, too.

@Kaloudz
Well, WO games are crossovers so it's expected you played both Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, haha.
Empires games are spin-offs of the base games so you're also expected to have played that. 🤣
It really sucks DW9 it's the only one on Xbox.
Re: Turn-Based TMNT Game Announced For Xbox, Releases Next Week
@xboxjapanfan
How is a tactical game an imitation of a beat'em up though? Completely different genres.

This one is actually the TMNT game I was more interested in! Happy is coming to Xbox.

As one of the biggest AC fans, I have to say... Nothing for me here. Mirage was so damn boring.
Re: EA Is Working On 'A Few' Unannounced Games Based On Disney IP
Finished Jedi Survivor recently and it was really good. Would 100% play a third one.
Re: Report: BioShock Remake Cancelled As Upcoming Sequel Hits Development Troubles
I only played Infinite, which I thought was incredibly overrated.

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your First Impressions Of Grounded 2 On Xbox Game Pass?

Wrong article? 🤣
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 2-3)
@Tasuki
Totally deserved one. It could have really benefited from the more modern consoles.
Honestly, even today there's nothing like it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 2-3)
Finished Terra Memoria and Fate/Extra recently.
Will be playing:
Raidou Remastered.
Sky Force Anniversary.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.
Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster.
And maybe Book of Demons.
Oh, and I wanna play Jade Empire again, such a great game.
Re: Here's Everything That Was Revealed At The THQ Nordic Showcase 2025
Better than expected to be honest.
You can choose your Horseman in Darksiders 4? That's new. Pretty cool.
Re: Opinion: This Month On Xbox Is Stacked, Including A Few First-Party Treats
I don't think I care for any one of those. Luckily I have a GIANT backlog.
Re: Rumour: Sony Is Planning To Bring More PS5 Games To Xbox

This. And Nioh 3 and Rise of the Ronin for me. Don't care about the first party stuff.

I love the series, but haven't met anyone who thinks is anything more than "good" or "fun" at best. 🤣
Re: Roundup: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Is Launching On Xbox To Very Impressive Reviews

Ninja Gaiden tomorrow and Shinobi next month. We're eating good.
Re: All New Xbox Games Coming Out In August 2025
Never heard of The Knightling but it looks good!
Re: Talking Point: Are You Still Hyped For Hollow Knight: Silksong On Xbox Game Pass?
Honestly, nope. I thought the first one was alright at best.
Probably won't play it even being on Game Pass.
Re: Xbox Announces Gamescom Livestream Schedule For August 2025
Damn, nothing here for me. Hope the surprises are good!
Re: Talking Point: So, What Other PS5 Games Do You Want To See Come To Xbox?
I've sald it a few times already but I've played most of the first party stuff to give them a chance and liked none of them.
So I would want none of the first party stuff but instead games like Nioh, Rise of the Ronin, etc.
Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (July 28-August 1)

Now that I think about it, wasn't Earthion delayed for consoles? I think I've read a tweet from Yuzo Koshiro himself, but I could be wrong.
Re: Poll: What Are Your First Impressions Of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers On Xbox Game Pass?
It's not my cup of tea, but who the hell votes 1? 🤣
Re: These 10+ Games Are Coming To Xbox Next Week (July 28-August 1)
Earthion with music from the GOAT 🐐 Yuzo Koshiro. 🙏🏻
I also want Achilles Survivor and of course Ninja Gaiden.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 26-27)
Finished Echo Generation again recently.
Terra Memoria
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Raidou Remastered
Fate/Extra on PSP
Maybe a little of Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster.
