Talking Point: How Many Consoles Have You Ever Bought At Launch, And Were They Worth It?

It's a quiet Easter Monday with not a whole lot going on right now, so let's have a little discussion! Today, we're asking you how many consoles you've ever bought at launch, and whether you ultimately decided they were worth it.

You don't have to limit yourself to just Xbox, but obviously that's what we're most interested in! Personally, I was there at the start of the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S generations, and I can't say I've regretted either of them — the Xbox One might have been marketed horribly, but the console itself was still a blast in the early days, especially as the likes of Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive started rolling out in 2014.

The Xbox Series X might not have felt essential at launch, but it was massive upgrade on the base Xbox One in terms of things like loading times and 4K support, and considering the prices have gone up instead of down over the years, being there on launch day feels like it was a great decision!

As mentioned though, you can tell us about other consoles — any version of PlayStation, for example (I bought a PSP at launch and absolutely loved it), any Nintendo system, anything retro that goes back to the Atari, Saturn, Dreamcast, NeoGeo (etc) days, and even any PC handhelds like the Steam Deck or the ROG Xbox Ally that you might own.

Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever regretted buying a console at launch, but I can totally understand why you might find yourself in that boat... hardware issues, a lack of games, newer models replacing them too quickly, etc.

So, let's hear from you! Tell us which consoles you've personally bought at launch (if any) over the years, and whether you ultimately felt they were worth it, or whether buyer's remorse ended up kicking in.

And just for fun, let us know which of those consoles you've ended up enjoying the most!
