@shoeses this a good description of how they're dealing with the games, not all of use fans want to engage in reading a bunch of different sources and play a bunch of spinoffs to understand basic plot points. Escharum was a big wtf moment for me but after reading about him, I thought, what a cool character that has nothing to do with Halo 1-5 lol

Yeah don't tell us you're making new hardware when you know generation over generation their numbers are plummeting. I absolutely love my Series X, best console I've owned with no issues 5 years in. They keep talking about "Xbox Experience" with new brand partnerships but it's like, what IS that experience anymore? Getting games everywhere else, playing games everywhere else and having the fewest physical releases and 3rd parties on the platform of any console out there right now? I love this site and I love the Xbox of 5 years ago but not really sure I'm sticking along for the confusing ride beyond this gen. The Series X will be here under my TV for a long time yet

They're going to make cuts across the board and support publishing, controllers and branding with minimal corporate management and management minimal hardware investment. They already got rid of art and discs for most games. Sign of the times and an excellent business model focused on services & digital monetization.

You can play your favorite games anywhere on any device with no support in your region and you can't work here no more . Poor team, they've had a hard time in Europe. I convinced two friend father to get a Series S though and they like it but hardly use it

I saw SF2 listed here as available and Gauntlet as not. Do I have to download it to a 360? Suppose it is just not there for Xbox Series X then

I really love Gamescom, can encourage anyone that can afford a flight to check it out. Entry is still pretty affordable and the event is huge. Super nerdy and a lot of fun.

This is cool, like a phone's game launcher. It'll be nice if you can share settings between launchers via the aggregated launcher.

I feel like they diminish their brand quality doing it, I know it is a great marketing strategy & they're making lots of cash. They're not really focused on games as much as I'd like them to be. I think they'll get rid of Xbox and pivot to MS Game Studios while retaining the X for the branding.

Shadow drops are cool for $30 games. Feel like they're not doing a good job communicating exactly what we are getting or what to expect. I am guessing it's just licensing the brand to anyone that has hardware at this point. Meta, Oculus, ASUS, PlayStation, etc. VR is cool but feel like it will remain niche for a long time. All the more power to people that do like to experience it

Don't developers want to release their games over and over again though? I like backwards compatibility and love it on XSX. Nintendo tax is high but I pay it a lot which helps developers. I own multiple titles on several platforms (MegaMan X4 I'm looking at you PS1, Xbox One, Switch, Xbox Series X)

@Krzzystuff I'll have look into the theft you're talking about , have not followed the game so closely but I'm a fan of extraction shooters and Bungie has always had excellent gunplay

Nintendo announced next gen at the right time, within a few months of launch and with clear timelines for information and then highlighting capabilities and great games. Xbox is covering a time gap with little information to go on.

Yay! I hope they change up the graphics to be more photo realistic. Another 2 years is fine rather than launching a flop

I too would lie to Xbox and release digital only games to receive fixed fees and some royalties on my tens of thousands of copy games

I'd also like Xbox to give us the promised visuals and power for THIS generation rather than saying they're making a machine that takes 10 years to develop games for. They have to release an 8K game I can't even play just to fulfill their marketing promise

So the next generation is PC and streaming from PCs where hardware can't fill the void. I'm happy with that, planned on switching to PC after this gen anyway for Xbox. Hope all my hundred+ Xbox purchases transfer over!

@omegared74 I got mine for the same reason, hand cramps from the standard controller. Plus pushing in the sticks to run a hundred times was killing my thumbs so the two back buttons are saviors for me

Oh this is awesome news. I LITERALLY just received the GameSir 7HE yesterday since I wanted hall effect sticks and the extra two buttons. @fraserg is there a wireless controller guide somewhere on the site? I was looking everywhere to shop for a good Microsoft alternative since I've had so much drift & dislike wired. I might even return this one and wait for the Xbox version to launch!

Might this be the end of Sarah Bond's career as President? She is a great marketer but the videos talking about "the Xbox experience" where immediately too corporate for me and dodged what the actual console is: a ROG Ally with an Xbox button and some OS retooling. Plus the everything is an Xbox campaign. Not sitting well with me as a hardcore Xbox fan 😭 I did just get a Switch 2 and they're pretty clear what you get there: games that run great on a handheld with many titles launching in the near future. Plays Switch games too! Pretty straightforward

I think this wasn't a game to shadow drop and Xbox players need better education on Japanese games given the vast majority are FIFA, CoD and Gamepass subscribers. Xbox isn't a great place to sell millions of games when coming from other consoles but Xbox games sell great everywhere else

They should release a virtual casino with all their slots. I'd play it for fun.

Let's see how long GPU remains a business model, I am skeptical of it long term unless people are fine dining on $30/mo subs. I have really enjoyed GPU the past 5 years but not sure how long MS can keep it up

@Odium I bet it's a 2-3 hour battery so may as well just stick to a home console with these skateboard size behemoths. I am not even joking, and I looked it up as I wrote this, the Series S height is ACTUALLY shorter than the ROG Xbox Ally X width 😂 may as well have just put a screen in the middle of it

Xbox is selling skateboards with buttons and screens on them. Thing is comically huge, very Microsoft hardware looking behemoth. Hope it's better than the ROG Ally Z1 Xtreme because that turned me off completely from PC handhelds for a while. The marketing jargon about jumping into "the Xbox experience" and beating around the bush wasn't appreciated, I just wanted to know if I can play all my console games on that thing. I'm sure it will get there if MSFT can amend their future game contracts with devs. Won't pass judgment quite yet, want to see how it does in the wild. Need a backpack to carry this bad boy.

@Millionski I think the timing of the message is to get some Switch 2 players to wait. Its a console vs console vs handheld PC comparison, think their messaging isn't quite clear. This might be a make or break moment for Sarah Bond depending how launch goes. No idea where Xbox is heading but I bet the next Xbox will have the same features and allow Steam and Epic stores on it.

Terrible trailer. I have seen the gameplay though and I cannot wait to play this! I love a good extraction shooter, high hopes for this

@Millionski I just got mine too! Hope they just drop tons of online 3rd party ports. There are a few online games I'd like to play on the go that my Xbox Gamepass + Razer Kishi just can't handle 🥲

Just ditch the Box part, they're not making substantial investments into hardware, just very niche high powered consoles with the rest coming from their mega software services and gaming revenues. Think they need to just bite the bullet and fully rebrand already. Xbox PC is a bad name and confusing. PC gamers are well aware of various storefronts including the Microsoft store and we all know the MSFT store icon as Xbox gamers. All for the change! Just keep making great games like they've been doing all year and we will all accept whatever the brand morphs into

Yeah should've waited another year to add that stuff before release. Building a game with your players to get money at first and then work to build out the features is maybe cool for project management but not in this industry. People want high quality, fun content at launch. Too many good games out there to not start out with a nice experience

The next Halo game needs to hit it out of the freaking park. Franchise has been stagnating and I am such a massive fan of the series, I've put over 20+ days into Infinite's multiplayer and I loved the campaign. They just dropped the ball with their launch so REALLY need them to make their next Halo game a smash hit for the masses, nothing I'd love more than for them to succeed in that. I hardly play the game anymore & it got super repetitive so hope they find the right rhythm and soon
