@Banjo- I think it's still a good time for us consumers as they compete for our attention and cash. As long as we get great games, I don't care the format. I do love my Series X and would've bought the Xbox handheld if it wasn't a ROG where I can watch the battery dropping in real time 😭

@eduscxbox having a gaming PC let's you avoid a lot of that with only a handful of Sony exclusives to PC's massive ecosystem and price competitive software. You also don't get the hardware lock of Xbox (play anywhere isn't very good). Most games sold on Sony are 3rd parties anyway e.g. COD, Minecraft, EA sports titles, and a ton of free to play games, this would let Sony have very minor price control as they still exist within the gaming marketplace. Microsoft could offer much more compelling offerings with just a PC and mobile strategy imo, they'll start it with Helix if it has PC capabilities and then I won't be so far off the mark here. It makes business sense for them to have developers launch games as efficiently and quickly as possible with their new hybrid console while they try to dominate as a publisher & offload hardware to a 3rd party like they did for the ROG.

@Banjo- A I still think the Series X is underutilized for its power so don't get why she doesn't further support the current base.

Let's face it, their next console is going to be the price of a gaming PC and if they don't subsidize it like they did this Gen we are looking at $800+ consoles. Its towing the line of a gaming PC so why not just ditch Xbox and call it a Microsoft Gaming PC ? Xbox has always been a "power" niche but I think now games are so good the relevance is shrinking.

Those can still be backwards compatible. I hope they still include discs. Switch 2 and PS5 are crushing it on sales and I think even current Gen, Series S was a mistake.

I'm not opposed to a new console I'm just surprised at their decision to stick with it after saying "something needs to change" & they won't "subsidize Xbox" anymore. I think they'll keep releasing on Series X until 2030-31 so I'm in no rush to see how they get it all together. Fingers crossed it's positive!

Xbox has spent 25 years trying to figure out the game's business & has many diehard fans but idk if it makes sense for Microsoft to have consoles anymore. Still thought they would pivot to Microsoft Games Studios and kill off the brand so we all have clarity they'll publish and develop software while giving space to other console manufacturers and PC to be the main point of service for gamers. Let's see what they do, idk if they can come out of it but it'll take a long time to earn my support on a new console when Steam is releasing a cool piece of kit and Nintendo & Sony make compelling platforms. Haven't been a Gears fan since high school so it's not been relevant for years, the way they butchered my boy Halo was also not reassuring. I still play Xbox 5x a week & Series X is maybe my favorite console ever for its reliability and backwards compatibility with a massive library I have. So 70/30 here (leave Xbox / stay) for the next gen, current decisions maybe made it 5% better. So moving in the right direction. I have too much Xbox swag to not be a passionate fan about their business.

She's been coached very well using copilot for these talks. Let's hope it's not all for show and the brand is not dead by 2030. I want Xbox to survive but the glory days are long gone. It's still my #1 played gaming device so current content has made me happy but that content is also for 8 year old games 🤠

Lotto system just like the Switch 2 in Japan. There are lots of examples of how to do this right. They should honestly just make this the final model until the next Xbox.

They took so long to release Xbox's answer to Zelda they had enough time to make a remake of Ocarina of Time.

I mean I'm glad they're doing it and hope they do it in a way that doesn't hurt the brand further. They need to be smart about the cuts and the way they invest once that's done. Otherwise what developer wants to work for a company with 8 years of instability?

@simondud1 doubtful, I personally randomly ordered 3 controllers that all got drift and became unusable. The Switch 1 had the same problem with their joycons but the Switch 2 has had zero issues since I got it. For Xbox , now I have a 3rd party controller now, GameSir Pro wireless and it is perfect, zero issues, solid performance and the Wuchang skin is very nice. The sticks are hall effect. I know multiple friends with OG Xbox SX controllers that are no good anymore. I'm happy your Project Scorpio controller is fine. I never had issues with my Xbone controllers if that helps either.

Not biting until they fix their brand and hardware issues for controllers. I've had 3 Xbox controllers get drift, all special editions and they really have the audacity to launch 1 TB 6 years into the lifecycle when we have MASSIVE libraries by this point. Cool they keep the trend going but I have a ton of 20 year anniversary stuff that still needs use. I like the look of the console. I hope they continue doing console wraps or make the exterior swappable in the future so we can enjoy updates without dropping $500-800

@Deadsea93 definitely agree. Go with a digital only or disc based version with all the same innards like PS5 has done. Keeps it simple for everyone. They can do a cloud / TV app version as a small underpowered streaming box if they wanna keep it affordable for others

I think we will SKUs in the range of $799 for a base weak model and $999 - $1499 for Pro and Ultimate models similar to pricing in the Asus ROG Ally setups. What do others think?

Let's see them release a first party game using their advertised 8k on us poor suckers back in 2020. I loved Halo Infininite and Doom Eternal for 120fps 4k and ray tracing. I wanted more from this console! Hope whatever they do with helix positively pushes Series X for us X owners.

It would be great if they worked with another studio to build out stories or multiplayer events within that beautiful open world

I've actually written Microsoft about this. Why the heck are we seeing ads on a PAID service?? Put that onto web browsers, not on game consoles or paid for tiers. Nintendo Switch is easy: games, game news, game sales, games

I was a big fan of the first game from Dice, didn't like the pivot to class based fighting as there were nice skins for the storm troopers and you could mix up the classes to whatever you wanted

Okay they should've capped the Game score badge at maybe 500k or a million. Those houses there tiers you're not even having fun anymore, you're straight grinding

@Balaam_ I'd like if they made it clean with a disc logo and a disc logo crossed out without a full gray bar. Agree with your approach on being clear about downloads or on disc. I feel on disc puts better expectations on developers to fix their game to be as complete as possible by launch rather than the 3-9 month big fixing period we all have to deal with when releasing too early

@bert0503 you know this comment.akes me want a Blu-ray disk but then it remind me of a floppy disk 😭 I still like physical media. It makes more sense for me on a portable console that doesn't require an Internet connection but occasionally I do like just running stuff locally when the Internet is down and Xbox can make it hard when it can't confirm your digital license without WiFi

Wait, Xbox has physical games?! I seriously had a big collection going on until about the release of Star Field with really cool Japanese game releases on the platform and Xbox "exclusives". Any return to discs for Series X owners like myself I welcome. My Nintendo library is huge (crying with Game Key cards) so anything they can do to bring more games on disc I am happy with. Designing a new box cool, as long as it's not just a code inside!

I would say they should focus on hardware and content experience then worry about services later. All we want is engaging content on hardware we love. Services can be planned alongside this. Nintendo puts out garbage graphic performance compared to PS and Xbox BUT they still look beautiful and pull you into amazing experiences. Sure they rip you off on performance but the games are GOOD

It's such a shame with these great studios shuttering. The gaming market is absolutely saturated and there's so much talent out there that want to contribute to the field. It's like Hollywood, everyone wants to make it but not everyone can survive the industry and battle for attention of the mind. What they made was good but players are all over the place gaming in different places with bigger franchises. Wishing everyone good luck in hunting for their next big project with another studio!

I'm hoping they keep cross gen long enough with SeriesX so I can maybe consider Gen 10. Bought a gaming PC so skipping Xbox unfortunately due to bad decisions. Still buying stuff on Series X though and play it nearly on a daily basis

Most people on COD are Warzone fanatics so happy Microsoft learned this the hard way after the AB acquisition, we were not going to pay to help them recoup their acquisition. I'll consider a resub at $15. I have unfortunately found out that Core has been more than enough for my play habits and library so definitely not feeling any need to upgrade

I am curious to know how many people have renewed for Ultimate after all the changes (not counting the people that stacked it for 2-3 years or people before the cutoff).

I think only one of my friends is still on there, the rest of us swapped to Core. Premium is just there as a marketing gimmick to make people decide if they are ultimate or core.

Nobody wants to deal with rules and tiers for rewards. Simple, straightforward and known in under 30 seconds should be the rule. Who the heck is going to run the math on this? They need The Points Guy for this stuff!

I'm happy the Copilot tips to save the brand are "kill old this is an Xbox campaign" and "improve the dashboard". Not a fan of the new CEO but happy for some initial changes. Still not planning reupping with Xbox given they still release on other consoles

Which program did they do aware with? I thought Xbox Insiders was gone or was it another one of the circles of the program?
